MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell filed paperwork Wednesday to run for Minnesota governor.
While the paperwork doesn’t certainly mean he is running, Lindell said he is 98% sure he is. The CEO filed with the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Disclosure Board to run as a Republican against Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). …
Lindell is a conservative personality also known for his efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election. He owns Lindell TV, which has Pentagon press credentials alongside other conservative outlets and influencers. …
The pillow merchant joins a menagerie of Republicans looking to unseat Walz, a popular target for Republicans after being chosen as then-Vice President Kamala Harris’s vice president pick in the 2024 election.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar says she wants to “dismantle the whole system,” of the United States, including and not limited to the “economy and political systems.”
These are the same systems that let Ilhan Omar (D-MN) seek refuge from war torn Somalia and become a sitting U.S. Congresswoman, of course. But never mind that.
Fox News’s Tucker Carlson noted of Omar last year: “Ilhan Omar is living proof that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to this country. A system designed to strengthen America is instead undermining it. Some of the very people we try hardest to help have come to hate us passionately. Maybe that’s our fault for asking too little of our immigrants. We aren’t self-confident enough to make them assimilate so they never feel fully American.
“Or maybe the problem is deeper than that. Maybe we’re importing people from places whose values are simply antithetical to ours. Who knows what the problem is? But there is a problem”.
He was right. There is a problem. And Ilhan Omar is the embodiment of it.

Catholic Charities affiliates fear SNAP disruptions amid Trump administration warning
President Donald Trump’s administration intends to cut off federal food assistance for 21 states amid a dispute over reporting data about recipients, which has caused concern for some local Catholic Charities affiliates whose areas may be affected.
In May, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins ordered states to share certain records with the federal government about people who receive food stamps through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). She said this was to ensure benefits only went to eligible people.
Although 29 states complied, 21 Democratic-led states refused to provide the information and sued the administration. The lawsuit alleges that providing the information — which includes immigration status, income, and identifying information — would be a privacy violation. …
For many of the states that will be impacted, Catholic Charities is the largest provider of food assistance after SNAP, and some affiliate leaders fear that the disruption will cause problems.

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division announced Tuesday that it has filed federal lawsuits against six additional states, Delaware, Maryland, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, for refusing to hand over their statewide voter registration lists, as required under federal law.
Attorney General Pamela Bondi, who has taken a dramatically tougher posture on election transparency than her predecessors, called the states’ stonewalling a direct threat to clean elections.
“Accurate voter rolls are the cornerstone of fair and free elections, and too many states have fallen into a pattern of noncompliance with basic voter roll maintenance,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
“The Department of Justice will continue filing proactive election integrity litigation until states comply with basic election safeguards.”

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani, an Obama appointee in Massachusetts, issued a preliminary injunction against a provision in the Republican-led Congress’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The measure bars Medicaid reimbursements to tax-exempt organizations that kill babies in abortions and received more than $800,000 in such funds during fiscal year 2023.

The pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) announced the sudden death of Bishop Simon Kulli of Sapë in northern Albania on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the age of 52.
The prelate, a close collaborator of ACN and one of the most prominent voices in the Albanian Church, belonged to the first generation of priests formed after the fall of the communist regime, considered the most atheist and repressive of the 20th century. …
During a visit to the international headquarters of ACN earlier this year, Kulli recounted the origin of his priestly vocation, which was inspired by “seeing one of those old priests [who had been in prison for 28 years] celebrating Mass in Latin in my parish for the first time” after the fall of communism and the restoration of religious freedom in Albania.
“That was the exact moment I felt my vocation. Seeing that suffering priest, who found it so difficult to celebrate Mass, who was bent over at the altar because of the years in prison, I thought I could replace him,” the bishop recalled.

Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem’s Visit to U.S. Will Spotlight Plight of Holy Land Christians
The Archdiocese of Detroit will welcome Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, for a pastoral visit Dec. 4–7. In an interview with CNA, Father Adam Nowak, vice chancellor of the archdiocese, said the patriarch was invited after consultations with local Arab Christians.
“The goals for this event are spiritual and to express our closeness to our suffering Christian brothers and sisters of the Holy Land,” Nowak said. On Dec. 5, Cardinal Pizzaballa will speak at a dinner hosted by Detroit Archbishop Edward Weisenburger that aims to raise funds for the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and its charitable works. The patriarchate has jurisdiction over Latin and Melkite Catholics in Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, and Palestine.
Father Nowak said Archbishop Weisenburger hopes that as a result of the pastoral visit, people will “understand on a more personal level, by hearing stories and listening to the patriarch and his experiences, what it is like there now, the difficulties they face, but also the enduring hope they have.”

Don’t Be Fooled: Notre Dame’s About-Face Isn’t a Return to Faith
In 1842, when Fr. Edward Sorin stepped onto the cold Indiana prairie, he set out to build a Catholic university that would shape saints, sharpen minds, and send out citizens anchored in faith. The place was small, the winters brutal, and the resources thin. But Sorin insisted that Notre Dame would shine as a “powerful means for good,” a clear expression of Catholic identity in a country that often misunderstood the Church.
For generations, that promise held. Parents sent their children there expecting more than lectures and degrees. They expected a formation, a moral compass, and an encounter with something higher than ambition.
Walk the campus today and that founding spirit feels more like a memory guarded by the Golden Dome than a mission alive in the classrooms. Notre Dame still looks Catholic. The crosses shine and the basilica stands tall. Meanwhile, “Touchdown Jesus” surveys the stadium with a look that, after recent events, seems less triumphant than quietly exasperated.

Nativity Display at Left-Wing Church Includes Zip-Tied Baby Jesus, Roman Soldiers as ICE Agents
A left-wing church in Illinois put out a Nativity scene with a zip-tied baby Jesus, Roman soldiers depicted as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, and Mary and Joseph wearing gas masks.
Lake Street Church of Evanston said in a post to Facebook last week that the display “reimagines the nativity as a scene of forced family separation, drawing direct parallels between the Holy Family’s refugee experience and contemporary immigration detention practices.”
“By placing the Christmas story (Christianity’s central narrative of refuge, sanctuary, and sacred family) within the visual language of immigration enforcement and detention, this work asks viewers to confront the disconnect between professed religious or moral values and immigration policies,” the church explains in its post.
