Trump Hails Year 1 Wins: ’26 Is Even Going to Be Better’

President Donald Trump said Sunday that the U.S. is already in the “Trump economy,” telling NBC News he is “very proud” to take ownership of current economic conditions and predicting 2026 is going to be even better.

“I think ’26 is even going to be better,” Trump told “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Llamas in the annual presidential interview with the Super Bowl host network – a commitment former President Joe Biden did not keep in 2023 or 2024 but Trump restored in 2025 and 2026.

“You know, we have hundreds of billions of dollars pouring into our country. Actually, trillions: $18 trillion is being invested in our country as we speak. And there are factories and plants and thousands of businesses being built all over the country.

Trump’s Aim is Set on Pressing Republicans to Pass SAVE America Act

Trying to rally support for his cause, President Donald Trump once more promoted legislation that would require voters to show proof of citizenship and photo identification to be able to vote.

Trump took to Truth Social, where he beseeched Republicans to pass the SAVE America Act, which includes a provision compelling states to withdraw noncitizens from existing voter rolls. The bill is an updated version of the SAVE Act, which the House passed in April, according to a story by Newsmax.

“America’s Elections are Rigged, Stolen, and a Laughingstock all over the World,” Trump wrote. “We are either going to fix them, or we won’t have a country any longer. I am asking all Republicans to fight for the following: SAVE AMERICA ACT! 1. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW VOTER ID (IDENTIFICATION!). 2. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP TO REGISTER FOR VOTING. NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS (EXCEPT FOR ILLNESS, DISABILITY, MILITARY, OR TRAVEL!).”

President Trump Excoriates ‘Real Loser’ U.S. Olympian Hunter Hess for Criticizing USA

President Donald Trump had a few choice words for U.S. Olympic skier Hunter Hess, who said it was hard for him to represent his country amid U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.

In a Truth Social post Sunday morning, Trump zeroed in on the Olympian, writing, “U.S. Olympic Skier, Hunter Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics. If that’s the case, he shouldn’t have tried out for the Team, and it’s too bad he’s on it. Very hard to root for someone like this. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Is Cardinal Fernández the real source of tensions in the SSPX and Vatican standoff?

The past few days, replete with revelations and drama around the Society of Saint Pius X, have emphasised something that many have not yet fully noticed. At the risk of being reductionist, one overlooked aspect is the influence that Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández is having on the Catholic Church.

Catholic Herald readers will by now be well acquainted with the February 2 statement from the SSPX announcing episcopal consecrations for July 1. For Fr Davide Pagliarani, SSPX Superior General, the decision was a natural one in light of what he interpreted as a breakdown in negotiations between the Society and the Holy See.

His request for a papal audience last summer was disregarded, and a subsequent detailed letter to the Pope was answered in recent days by Cardinal Fernández. Don Davide wrote that it “does not in any way respond to our requests”.
