Chip Roy Lays Out How Senate Can Vote On SAVE Act Without Nuking Filibuster
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) sent a letter Monday to senators laying out a simple way the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act can be brought to the floor for a vote without “nuking” the filibuster.
The SAVE Act would require both documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote and voter ID to cast a ballot. The legislation passed the House, but is stalling in the Senate, despite 50 Republican senators who co-sponsor or support the SAVE America Act, according to Roy’s letter, which was exclusively obtained by The Federalist. As Roy pointed out, Senator Majority Leader John Thune can “put the bill on the floor any time.”

Notre Dame Pro-Life Medal Recipients Call on University to Rescind Appointment of Abortion Advocate
Six past recipients of a pro-life award at the University of Notre Dame and the widow of this year’s honoree are calling on the university’s president to rescind the appointment of an abortion supporter as head of Notre Dame’s Asian studies institute, expressing “profound sadness” and saying they feel betrayed.
“Nothing stings more than betrayal by one’s community — especially by an institution with such an admirable and urgently needed mission,” states the letter, published Monday by The Observer, a student newspaper.
In January, Notre Dame announced the appointment of Susan Ostermann, a professor of global affairs and political science at Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs, as the next director of the university’s Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies. Ostermann, a consultant for the Population Council, which supports contraception and abortion worldwide, co-authored 11 columns between May 2022 and May 2024 for newspapers and opinion websites arguing for legal abortion and against attempts to prohibit it.

Parents say school district circumvented them by inviting kids to LGBTQ discussion with teacher
In the eight months since the Supreme Court ruled that school districts must notify parents about LGBTQ-themed curricula and let them opt out their children, in the precedent Mahmoud, districts, elected officials and even judges have gone hunting for loopholes.
Suburban Boston’s Lexington Public Schools refused to show parents curricula in advance while demanding they identify specific lessons for opting out, and claimed books that simply promote “tolerance” are exempt, according to a “Catch-22” lawsuit.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta convinced a federal appeals court that forcing school districts to actively mislead parents about their children’s gender identity was not covered by Mahmoud at all because it doesn’t involve “curricular decisions.” …
