Trump Appoints Sen. Mullin to Replace Noem at DHS
President Donald Trump on Thursday announced he is tapping Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., to serve as the next secretary of Homeland Security, replacing Kristi Noem, who will move into a new role overseeing a Western Hemisphere security initiative.
Trump said Mullin will assume the position March 31, praising the Oklahoma senator as a “highly respected” lawmaker who will advance the administration’s border security and public safety agenda.
“I am pleased to announce that the Highly Respected United States Senator from the Great State of Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin, will become the United States Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), effective March 31, 2026,” Trump wrote in a post announcing the change.
Noem, who currently leads the Department of Homeland Security, will become special envoy for “The Shield of the Americas,” which Trump described as a new regional security initiative in the Western Hemisphere set to be announced Saturday in Doral, Florida.

Hegseth Partners With 17 Countries To Fight Narcoterrorists In Western Hemisphere
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth signed a joint security declaration on behalf of the United States Thursday, partnering with 17 countries in the Western Hemisphere to establish a unified front against narcoterrorists in the region using military deterrence.
Hegseth signed the document at a meeting of security and defense officials from South American, Central American, and Caribbean countries at the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) headquarters in Doral, Florida. The meeting included remarks from each delegation head, and Hegseth, White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller, SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis Donovan, and acting Assistant Secretary of War for Homeland Defense and Americas Security Affairs Joseph Humire also spoke.
“When terrorist killers and cartels capture strategic infrastructure, resources, and entire towns or cities close to U.S. borders and U.S. shores, or profit from mass illegal migration, that is a threat to the United States homeland and a threat to all of you as well — to the Americas,” Hegseth said during his remarks.

Oversight Committee chairman suggests criminal referrals are possible in Minnesota fraud probe
Chairman James Comer, who leads the House Oversight Committee, told Just the News that further criminal referrals are possible with the evidence his committee has uncovered of the rampant welfare fraud in Minnesota.
A new report from Comer’s committee, released on Wednesday, concluded that senior Minnesota government officials, including Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison, were for years aware of claims of widespread fraud in the state’s federally funded welfare programs, but failed to act, other than to retaliate against whistleblowers, Just the News reported.

Oregon Democrats Vote for Infanticide, Block Bill to Care for Abortion Survivors
Oregon Democrats voted for infanticide Thursday by blocking a bill to care for babies who survive abortions.
They are refusing to guarantee them the same medical treatment given to any other newborn.
Senator Diane Linthicum, R-Beatty, made a motion today to bring House Bill 4087, the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, to the Senate floor before the end of the 2026 legislative session. Sen. Bruce Starr, R-Dundee, affirmed the motion.
All 34 Democrats voted against bringing the measure forward, while all 22 Republicans voted in favor, killing the bill.

Wyoming Advances Heartbeat Bill to Ban Abortions on Babies With Beating Hearts
Wyoming lawmakers advanced a bill Tuesday that would ban abortions on unborn babies once a heartbeat is detectable, providing legal protection for unborn life at one of its earliest stages in the wake of the state Supreme Court striking down two pro-life laws passed in 2023.
House Bill 126, the heartbeat bill, prohibits abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which medical experts say can occur as early as six weeks of pregnancy.
The measure passed the House 51-7 on Feb. 24 and cleared the Senate on second reading Tuesday, leaving it one vote away from advancing to Gov. Mark Gordon’s desk.

Spanish father credits Sacred Heart devotion for ‘miracle’ of family surviving severe car wreck
A Spanish father is praising the protection of the Sacred Heart of Jesus — whom his family has been cultivating a special devotion to on the first Friday of every month — after he and his family survived a horrific car wreck with no injuries.
“For our family, what happened was a confirmation that our trust was well placed. The Sacred Heart of Jesus had protected us,” José María Mayoral told ACI Prensa in early February.
Mayoral said the accident occurred “in a matter of seconds” on Jan. 27, when he, his wife, and their four children were together in the car and he lost control of the wheel.
The car crashed into the median and then into a guardrail, sending the car into a flip.
But after the forceful contact with the ground followed, the family found that they were completely unharmed, according to the father.

Holy See [to UN]: Christians are most persecuted religious community in world
Nations bear the responsibility to protect, respect, and guarantee freedom of religion, said Archbishop Ettore Balestrero, the Holy See’s Permanent Observer to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, at the event “Standing with Persecuted Christians: Defending the Faith and Christian Values” on March 3.
“Almost 400 million Christians worldwide face persecution or violence, making them the most persecuted religious community in the world. This means that one in seven Christians is affected,” Archbishop Balestrero said.
“Even worse, almost 5,000 Christians were killed for their faith in 2025, which equates to an average of 13 per day,” he said.
The Archbishop explained that for Christians, those who are killed for their faith are “martyrs,” so “’witnesses’ to their creed who embody values that challenge the logic of power,” while from the perspective of international law, “they are victims of outrageous human rights violations.”

Fire guts Catholic cathedral in Taraba [Nigeria]
A late-evening inferno on Wednesday night has razed St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, Taraba State, leaving the multi-million-naira structure in ruins.
Rev Fr John Laikei, Director of Communications for the diocese, told journalists on the phone that the fire broke out on Wednesday night, shortly after power was restored in the area.
He said that the cathedral, which is a prominent landmark in Wukari, was completely destroyed, but added that no casualty was recorded.
Fr Laikei described the incident as a “total setback” for the diocese, stating that they were still in shock.
