Trump boosts GOP war chest as House Republicans gear up for high-stakes midterm fight
House Republicans got a major boost from President Donald Trump on Wednesday as they build resources to defend their razor-thin congressional majority in November’s midterm elections.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) chair, Rep. Richard Hudson, and House Speaker Mike Johnson announced at their annual fundraising dinner in the nation’s capital, which was headlined by Trump, that they hauled in a record $36.8 million.
The fundraising is much needed, with Republicans aiming to not only defend but expand their current 218-214 House majority in the midterms.

NY AG Letitia James referred again for criminal prosecution for alleged homeowner insurance fraud
The director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has again referred New York Attorney General Letitia James to the U.S. Department of Justice for criminal prosecution, proffering allegations that New York’s top cop may have falsified information on her homeowner’s insurance application.
The FHFA Director William Pulte, who oversees Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and the Federal Home Loan Banks, asked U.S. Attorneys in Florida and Illinois on Wednesday to “authenticate and investigate” the information, according to two letters reviewed by Just the News.
Pulte cites a series of social media posts by attorney and President of The Article III Project, Mike Davis, who explained how he believes the evidence laid out in previously published court documents demonstrate that James misled her home insurer when applying for coverage.

As a first-time mom expecting a baby this September, my social media feed has completely changed. What used to be filled with news and politics is now full of pregnancy advice, nursery ideas, and – of course – ads for diapers.
However, I didn’t expect that preparing for my baby would lead me to discover something deeply disturbing about the diaper industry.
Like most parents, I assumed choosing a diaper brand would come down to comfort, quality, and price. The last thing I expected was to learn that many of the most recognizable diaper brands in America have publicly aligned themselves with the abortion industry.
But the more I looked into it, the worse it got.
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Procter & Gamble – the company behind Pampers and Luvs – expanded employee healthcare coverage to include travel for abortions. Meanwhile, Kimberly-Clark, the manufacturer of Huggies, has been matching employee contributions to Planned Parenthood for two decades.
Other companies have taken similar positions. The Honest Company has also pledged to ensure employees can access an abortion “regardless of where they live,” including transportation to another state. Hello Bello has promised to help cover costs and provide paid time off for employees travelling for an abortion.

Republican senators push bill to block visas for religious persecutors abroad
A group of Republican senators is backing legislation that would bar foreign individuals involved in religious persecution from obtaining U.S. visas.
The Banning Perpetrators of Religious Persecution Act of 2026 (S.3679), introduced Jan. 15 by Republican Sen. Ted Budd of North Carolina, would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to deny visas to individuals who have “directed, authorized, significantly supported, participated in, or carried out violations of religious freedom.”
Under the bill, an individual would be deemed inadmissible to the U.S. if he or she meets one of two criteria: while serving as a foreign government official, the person was responsible for particularly severe violations of religious freedom; or, at any time while outside the U.S., the person directed, authorized, significantly supported, or participated in violations of religious freedom.

In an ecclesial context marked by growing doctrinal confusion, Bishop Fredrik Hansen of Oslo has chosen to intervene with a pastoral letter devoted to the Sacrament of Penance. It is a clear, straightforward text, one that introduces nothing new but places back at the centre something that risks being forgotten in Christian life. The letter arises during Lent, but it is framed on a broader level. Hansen firmly invites the faithful to rediscover confession as an ordinary practice, recalling that it is one of the sacraments instituted by Christ and therefore a constitutive part of the life of the Church. The bishop insists on one point in particular: through confession we truly receive forgiveness for our sins and are restored to communion with God and with the Church.
The text also addresses the question of sin, avoiding reductive readings. Sin, the prelate recalls, is a concrete rupture of the fundamental relationships — with God, with the ecclesial community, and with other human beings — rather than a mere individual weakness. Within this framework, confession appears as the place where that fracture is healed. Alongside the theological dimension, Hansen also offers practical guidance: he encourages the faithful to go to confession regularly, at least three times a year, and reminds them that anyone conscious of having committed a grave sin must refrain from approaching the Eucharist. At the same time, he acknowledges the widespread difficulties — fear, embarrassment, distance — and asks priests to make the sacrament more accessible.

A 22-year-old Christian influencer says more young Americans are rediscovering faith as frustration with “fake stuff” and social media culture drives a search for deeper meaning.
“We’re tired of fake stuff. We’re tired of fluff,” Bryce Crawford said Monday on “Fox & Friends.”
“We’re fed fluff through our phones, through desires, through whatever we think is going to satisfy. Every human being is on a quest for love, and we try to fill that void with different things, and I think people are naturally understanding, ‘Wait, this thing isn’t working anymore. This isn’t going how I thought it was going to go,’ so ultimately, people don’t just want a truth, they want the truth and that would be Jesus.”
Crawford is helping trailblaze a faith revival among young adults by spreading the gospel in the streets and to millions of followers on his social media accounts.
