White House: Targeting of President Trump Stems from 11 Years of Left-Wing and Media Demonization

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday that the latest attempted assassination of President Donald Trump stems from 11 years of the left, commentators, and media demonizing him.

Leavitt ripped Democrats and the media during what is likely her last White House press briefing before she gives birth to her second child, just days after a gunman, whom authorities have identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, allegedly attempted to storm the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton.

“Nobody in recent years has faced more bullets and more violence than President Trump,” Leavitt said. “This political violence stems from a systemic demonization of him and his supporters, by commentators; yes, by elected members of the Democrat Party; and even some in the media.”

“This hateful and constant and violent rhetoric directed at President Trump, day after day after day for 11 years, has helped to legitimize this violence and bring us to this dark moment,” she added.

Media Once Again Blame Trump For Nearly Being Assassinated – by Eddie Scarry

Here’s an important mental exercise: If the shooter at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday had intended to kill journalists instead of the president, what would the media be talking about nonstop for the next 100 years?

Everyone knows the answer. But 31-year-old Cole Allen, the suspected would-be assassin, explicitly wrote in his widely-reported “manifesto” that he wasn’t targeting guests at the annual event, but instead U.S. “representatives,” specifically “administration officials … prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest.” And when it’s Donald Trump or his supporters being targeted, well, those stories don’t tend to stick around for long.

National Religious Broadcasters files FCC complaint over Jimmy Kimmel Live monologue

The National Religious Broadcasters organization told the FCC that the remarks when viewed in context “raise serious concerns about the normalization and potential incitement of political violence.”

Christian nonprofit filed a complaint Monday with the Federal Communications Commission, requesting it investigate Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks last week that called first lady Melania Trump “an expectant widow.”

Kimmel’s sketch last Thursday mocked President Donald Trump and his wife in a parody of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, but it aired just two days before an attempted assassin allegedly fired his weapon right outside the ballroom during the real dinner on Saturday, which the president and first lady attended.

“Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” Kimmel said in the sketch.

Rubio: Iran wants to do to world ‘with a nuclear weapon what they are doing now with oil’

Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized the Iranian regime, blasting the leaders of the country for using force to control shipping through an “international waterway.” Rubio said the regime is trying to hold the world hostage by controlling the Strait of Hormuz, through which over 80% of the world’s oil is transported. He said their attempt to regulate shipping through the straits was the “equivalent of an economic nuclear weapon.” Rubio made the comments on Monday in an interview with Trey Yingst on Fox News.

“Look what they’ve done with the straits – great example,” said Rubio. “The straits is basically the equivalent of an economic nuclear weapon that they’re trying to use against the world, and they’re bragging about it.”

“They’re putting up billboards in Tehran bragging about how they can hold 25 percent or 20 percent of the world’s energy hostage,” Rubio added. “Imagine if those same people had access to a nuclear weapon. They would hold the whole region hostage.”

Rubio also justified the U.S. taking military action against Iran, explaining that if the U.S. had not done so, it would impair the country from taking effective measures against geopolitical foes in the future in the region, specifically Hezbollah and Hamas, two paramilitary groups that have caused havoc in the Middle East for years. Moreover, Rubio said such measures would be drastically complicated if Iran obtained a nuclear weapon.

“We wouldn’t be able to do anything about Hezbollah, we wouldn’t be able to do anything about Hamas, we wouldn’t be able to do anything about the Shia militias in Iraq, because they’d be sitting there with a nuclear weapon saying we are untouchable,” said Rubio.

King Charles Meets Trump in Bid to Salvage US-UK Ties

Britain’s King Charles III met Donald Trump at the White House Monday, kicking off a high-stakes state visit shadowed by transatlantic tensions and a new alleged attempt to assassinate the U.S. president.

Behind the warm welcome for Charles and Queen Camilla in front of the cameras lay a deepening rift in the so-called “special relationship” between Washington and London over Trump’s war in Iran.

With such tensions simmering, Charles will address a joint meeting of Congress on Tuesday, when he will tell U.S. lawmakers that the long history between the two countries is one of “reconciliation and renewal,” according to a released excerpt from the king’s speech.
