Kristen Welker’s Delusional Defense Of Brazen California Election Is Why Everyone Hates The Media by Brianna Lyman

California’s own election rules raise skepticism by design.

Socialist Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nithya Raman appeared to concede defeat Tuesday night after it looked like Spencer Pratt would advance to the November runoff election against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. But then votes kept pouring in days after the Tuesday election, and by Sunday evening, Raman had taken the lead over Pratt.

The 180-degree-turn has left many scratching their heads: How does a candidate who was down by roughly 40,000 votes suddenly jump to second place after she herself publicly signaled her path to victory had all but disappeared? (Raman currently leads Pratt by more than 20,000 votes, after post-election ballot dumps have gone overwhelmingly in her favor.)

For NBC’s Meet the Press host Kristen Welker, however, questions about such outcomes are apparently evidence of nothing more than public ignorance. During a Sunday interview, President Donald Trump said the 2020 election was “rigged” (and he’s right — but more on that later) and that the same rigging is happening in California.

“Where’s the evidence to that?” Welker asked, repeatedly claiming the days-long vote counting is just how California does elections. But in Welker’s eager dismissal she glossed over some glaring flaws in California’s electoral system that raise the concerns of any American capable of critical thinking.

As of Sunday, Raman had seen a swing of roughly 43,000 votes since election night. Pratt questioned the ballot dump on X: “43,000, huh? Where have I seen that number before…? Probably nothing.” Below that message, he included a screenshot from a March article stating there are roughly 43,000 homeless people in Los Angeles.

Lublin Attack Sparks Political Storm over Student Visa Migration in Poland

Once a symbol of Poland’s statehood, the eastern city of Lublin has increasingly become a textbook example of how the student visa system can serve as a backdoor to uncontrolled migration and the negative consequences that may accompany it.

Lublin has made headlines in recent weeks as growing numbers of African and Asian international students—including those from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, India, and Bangladesh—have become the focus of an increasingly heated public debate. Concerns about the scale and nature of this influx intensified following a series of recent incidents.

At the end of May, a 41-year-old Zimbabwean man was arrested after attacking a Polish resident outside a bar, striking him in the head with a glass mug and causing serious injuries. The violent incident occurred during Lublin’s controversial Africa Day celebrations, during which the local progressive administration led by Mayor Krzysztof Żuk, a politician from Donald Tusk’s Civic Platform party, promoted the city’s growing ties with African countries and highlighted the increasing number of students arriving from the continent.

Speaking about Lublin’s internationalization strategy, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs and Economic Promotion Wiktoria Herun noted that over the past six years Lublin had attracted large numbers of students from countries such as Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and South Africa. She also acknowledged that the profile of foreign arrivals had changed significantly, stating that students from Africa, India, and Bangladesh were increasingly arriving not alone but together with their spouses and children.

Victim of the Lublin Africa Days

This man [pictured below] is lying in the hospital and may have a damaged spine. Has the Black man who did this been arrested or has he already been released from detention and is freely moving around our country, @PolicjaLubelska?

Yesterday [June1] around 2:30 in one of the venues on the pedestrian street in the very heart of Lublin, a 41-year-old citizen of Zimbabwe attacked a 40-year-old man. First he shoved him, and a moment later struck him on the back of the head with a beer glass.

More Than a Million People Visit Serbian Church to Witness Holy Relic of Virgin Mary

More than a million people traveled to the Church of Saint Sava over the past several weeks to witness a holy relic of the Virgin Mary, a piece of a belt she wore when pregnant with Jesus Christ.

The belt, on display for 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the last couple of weeks, was flown in from Mount Athos in Greece, where it is normally kept — the first time in centuries the relic had been returned to Serbia.

Orthodox Church officials, per a Serbian government official, formally estimated that more than 1.1 million people visited the Church of Saint Sava during the display of the relic, considered one of the holiest in Christianity.

“She made it by hand and wore it when she was pregnant with the baby Jesus,” Nemanja Stavorich, the Serbian Minister of European Integration, told Breitbart News during a tour of the Church of Saint Sava.

“It’s a very special occasion for us because for 650 years, this belt wasn’t in Serbia,” Bozidar Lijeskic, a Church official who gave Breitbart News a tour of the Church of Saint Sava, said. “It’s actually one of the holiest and most prized and venerated possessions of the whole of Mount Athos.”

Breitbart News visited the church as well during our trip to Belgrade to interview President Aleksandar Vucic — an interview that caught the attention of U.S. President Donald Trump. Vucic praised Trump during the interview, saying that because he is “pragmatic” and “rational,” Trump is the most popular American politician by far in Serbia — and the president posted that article on Truth Social.

Bishop of Toledo, Ohio, Calls Shooting of 12 at Local Festival a ‘Tragic Act’

“While these tragic acts have shaken our neighborhood, they have not shaken our faith in humanity, nor have they shaken our faith in the Lord of Life,” Bishop Daniel Thomas said.

The day after 12 people were wounded by gunfire at a festival in Toledo, Ohio, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas lamented that one of the city’s “most beloved community traditions was suddenly shattered by senseless violence.”

On the evening of Saturday, June 6, at the 53rd annual Old West End Festival, 12 people were wounded in an apparent dispute between two shooters who have yet to be identified, according to local police.

Police said all 12 injured were in “stable condition” as of Sunday afternoon. Organizers canceled the festival, which was to continue through Sunday.

The shooting took place just a few blocks from Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral during the vigil Mass on the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

Bishop Thomas issued a statement on June 7, saying: “For those of us who live in the Old West End, this tragedy is literally close to home.”

Despite the “eerie quiet” in the neighborhood Sunday morning following the festival’s cancellation, Thomas said the faithful gathered and “carried Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of the Old West End in the annual Eucharistic procession.”
