Trump announces peace deal with Iran, ending hostilities

Israel is not a party to the deal, however, and launched airstrikes on Beirut after Hezbollah launched projectiles into Israel Sunday.

President Donald Trump announced on June 14 that the United States and Iran had reached a deal to end months of hostilities that have claimed thousands of lives.

In a Truth Social post, Trump declared: “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!”

He added: “I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” A formal signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.

Trump mixes sports and patriotism with UFC Freedom 250 ‘spectacle’

It was a night of pageantry and mixed martial arts brutality at the White House as President Donald Trump brought fight night to the South Lawn for America’s 250th birthday and his 80th.

A relaxed Trump, hours after announcing a peace deal with Iran is expected to be signed on Friday, received a hero’s welcome at UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday.

Cameras followed Trump and UFC President and CEO Dana White from the Oval Office to the South Portico, where they were greeted with Hail to the Chief, a national anthem rendition by the Zac Brown Band, and a building-rattling 12-plane military flyover from the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds before they found their Octagon ringside seats near the president’s family.

The White House promised the Washington Examiner last week that having the UFC Freedom 250 “spectacle take place at the People’s House on Flag Day during our nation’s semiquincentennial anniversary” would be “a fitting tribute.”

And Trump, a former reality TV star known for expressing his lighting and other production preferences to staff, and even news outlets, delivered in terms of theatrics.

Vance: Trump “very supportive” as vice president moves closer to 2028 decision

Vice President JD Vance says that he and his wife, second lady Usha Vance, will discuss whether he should seek the 2028 Republican presidential nomination later this year, following the 2026 midterms. While he has not yet decided about entering the GOP race, Vance told “CBS Sunday Morning” that he expects President Donald Trump to be “very supportive” of whatever Vance decides to do regarding the next campaign for the White House.

“I have no doubt that the president of the United States is going to be very supportive of anything that I ultimately decide to do,” Vance said. “But we really just haven’t talked about what that thing will be.”

For now, Vance said his political future is not top of mind, remarking he is not “sitting around figuring out whether I’m going to run for president.

“Usha and I will absolutely sit down and talk about what comes next for our family,” he said, adding that it will be after the results of the 2026 midterms elections. “The way I make decisions is, I try not to make them until I absolutely must.”

Postal Service won’t deliver mail ballots for states that don’t hand over voter lists, under plan for Trump directive

State election officials could soon face a stark choice: Hand over voter lists to the Trump administration or risk losing Postal Service delivery for mail-in ballots.

That dilemma stems from newly proposed USPS rules that seek to comply with an executive order President Donald Trump signed this spring to crack down on mail-in voting. If courts let the order stand, it would give the federal government an unprecedented role in elections — and could put even more voter data in the hands of Trump officials searching for supposed election fraud.

The proposed rules lay out new conditions that states would have to meet to send ballots through the mail, including giving the agency lists of all voters set to receive mail ballots.

So far, 23 Democratic-led states and the District of Columbia are suing, as are Democratic Party leaders and non-partisan voter advocacy groups, setting up a potentially active summer of high-stakes judicial rulings.

The Trump administration cleared an initial legal hurdle last month, when a federal judge in Washington, DC, who is overseeing one set of the cases, declined to block Trump’s executive order, allowing the Postal Service to begin implementing it.

Zeale For America 250 Rally highlights Cardinal Burke, Knowles, Reinhardt in day of prayer and patriotism

More than 700 people gathered at the La Crosse Center in Wisconsin June 13 for a patriotic prayer rally as the U.S. celebrates its 250th anniversary, hearing from Cardinal Raymond Burke, Michael Knowles, Kelsey Reinhardt, and others who called for a renewed sense of love of country that flows from love of God.

Organized by CatholicVote, the Zeale for America 250 Rally marked a day of joyful celebration of the country’s heritage, while aiming to inspire the faithful to commit to regular prayer for the nation going forward.

“We are celebrating America’s first 250 years with our eyes focused on her future,” CatholicVote President and CEO Kelsey Reinhardt told Zeale News. “John Adams once said: ‘Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.’ His words are no less true today. We need Americans committed to pray daily for the sincere renewal of our country that only God can bring.”
