Trump calls Supreme Court’s birthright decision ‘too bad’ and urges Congress to act
President Donald Trump has called on Congress to act after the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship, striking down an executive order that tried to limit protections.
Trump had declared that children born to parents who are in the United States illegally or temporarily are not American citizens.
“The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, that has now been determined during this process,” Trump wrote on Truth Social a few hours after the Supreme Court ruling.
He continued, “No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary! Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship. They will have my Complete and Total Support!”
In the court’s opinion, Chief Justice Roberts said there is “scant evidence” for the Trump administration’s “dramatically revisionist view” of the 14th Amendment and limits on citizenship at birth.

DOJ Launches New Crackdown on Birth Tourism After Supreme Court Blocks Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Order
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announces on Wednesday DOJ will prioritize prosecutions of birth tourism schemes involving visa fraud as foreign nationals continue exploiting U.S. citizenship loopholes despite yesterday’s 5-4 Supreme Court ruling striking down President Trump’s executive order.
On Tuesday, the Trump Department of Justice directed federal prosecutors across the country to prioritize investigations and prosecutions of birth tourism schemes.
The move, announced just hours after the high court struck down President Trump’s executive order protecting the meaning and value of American citizenship, shows the administration is not backing down. Instead, it is weaponizing existing criminal law against the fraudsters who exploit the loophole.
Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald issued a department-wide memo Tuesday directing every U.S. Attorney’s office to work closely with DHS on these cases.

Trump visits newly built Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota’s Badlands
President Donald Trump visited North Dakota on Wednesday to see the newly built Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, a massive facility exploring the life of America’s 26th president, built in the rugged, lonely landscape where Roosevelt built his conservation values in the 1880s.
During a tour of the 96,000-square-foot library and in a speech afterward, Trump spoke admiringly of Roosevelt and compared himself favorably to the former president, who he described as the embodiment of the American spirit, praising his toughness as a leader and outdoorsman.
“He had a freakin’ wild life,” Trump told an audience at a Western-themed amphitheater. “He didn’t want to be quiet. He wanted to be great.”
The official opening of the library on Saturday coincides with July 4th celebrations honoring the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

USMNT overcomes red card, advances to World Cup Round of 16 with impressive win over Bosnia-Herzegovina
Mauricio Pochettino wants his team to touch the moon, and they are getting ever closer to the stars.
Twenty-four years after USA 2, Mexico 0 in Jeonju came USA 2, Bosnia-Herzegovina 0 on a sun-splashed Wednesday in Santa Clara. Of course it had to be dos a cero again. The U.S. waited a generation and the long-lasting 36 minutes that followed Folarin Balogun’s red card between knockout round victories at a World Cup. Every second was worth it.
“Game by game, we’ve started to prove people wrong,” Chris Richards said, “and prove ourselves right.”
The losing streak against UEFA is over, with wins against Bosnia sandwiching a nearly five-year drought. So too is the knockout stage losing streak and so too, just maybe, is the inferiority complex that’s plagued American soccer when it comes up against so-called soccer nations. The true test of that will come next week in Seattle when the USMNT faces Belgium, which knocked them out in Brazil 12 years ago and which beat them 5-2 in a friendly back in March.
Balogun being sent off 61 minutes in for landing on Tarik Muhamerovic’s ankle — a call decided after a lengthy VAR review — changed the tenor of a Round of 32 match the USMNT had been, if not dominating, then certainly in control of.

At its heart is a simple belief: what makes America work isn’t an aesthetic or an ideology. It’s the people. It’s neighbors, families, workers, veterans, dreamers, and everyday citizens choosing to love this beautiful republic and one another, even when they disagree.

Citizen Vigilante, Europe’s First Migrant Backlash Movie by Robert S. Cairns
Uwe Boll and Armie Hammer have little left to lose — and it shows in the year’s most incendiary film about Europe’s migrant crisis.
For all its B-movie trappings, Citizen Vigilante is the first of its kind: a film that sees the migrant crisis in Europe as a crisis for Europeans. It is politically incorrect in the most provocative sense, and as such, was probably destined to be made by two people (director Uwe Boll and actor Armie Hammer) who have been routinely dragged through the mud and probably feel like they have nothing left to lose.
If the oft-ridiculed Boll and the scandal-plagued Hammer are both at a point where they have stopped caring what people think of them, then the strident tone of Citizen Vigilantereflects a growing outrage many people are feeling with regard to the migrant situation in Europe. The film is unambiguous in the way it opens with the superimposed location title “EUROPE” and closes with the stark dedication: “To the thousands of rape and murder victims in Europe who were betrayed by our legal system.” This is an exploitation film with its blood boiling. Europe is presented as being in a state of anarcho-tyranny, with Hammer’s stock vigilante the embodiment of the right-wing id, cleaning things up from the street to the institutional level. Eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth, it is a civilizational wake-up call that is neither subtle nor especially well made, but this is beside the point. The question that needs to be asked is whether or not the film is dishonest or irresponsible.

‘Peter’s Pence’: Supreme Court stays out of challenge to Catholic fundraising
The Catholic Church argued courts should dismiss the lawsuit to preserve the church’s independence from government interference.
The Supreme Court is staying out of a case about whether the Catholic Church misled parishioners about the purpose of an annual collection, passing up a chance to probe the independence churches have from government interference.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops says that autonomy means courts should dismiss a lawsuit from a Rhode Island churchgoer who claims that funds raised by the “Peter’s Pence” collection went not for humanitarian work but were spent on luxury condominium developments and other investments.
“Such disputes are beyond the ken of civil courts,” lawyers for the church wrote in the appeal the court rejected on May 26. “The Religion Clauses of the First Amendment ensure churches can decide for themselves, free from state interference, matters of church governance.”

Vatican declares Society of St. Pius X in schism, excommunicates bishops and invalidates sacraments
The Vatican responded aggressively Thursday to a traditionalist society that consecrated bishops without the pope’s consent, declaring the Society of St. Pius X in schism, excommunicating its bishops and priests and warning its faithful they too face the harshest sanctions in the Catholic Church.
The Vatican’s doctrine office went above and beyond the minimal sanctions foreseen by the church’s canon law to respond to the consecrations Wednesday of four new bishops at the society’s Econe, Switzerland, seminary.
The society, known by its acronym SSPX, celebrates the ancient Latin Mass and opposes the modernizing reforms of the Catholic Church, which it considers to be rife with heresies and errors and has accused of straying from the Catholic faith.

After 150 years, Norway’s largest Catholic church is finally consecrated
More than 150 years after it first opened, St. Paulʼs in Bergen — now Norwayʼs largest Catholic parish, with faithful from over 120 nations — has finally been consecrated.
“Every holy Mass, when I look into the church from the altar, I see the whole world in front of me.”
For Dom Alois Brodersen, an Augustinian canon regular and parish priest of St. Paulʼs Catholic Church in Bergen, Norway, those words capture the reality of parish life.
Standing before a congregation representing more than 120 nationalities, he sees the fulfillment of a vision first imagined by the parishʼs founders nearly 150 years ago.
When St. Paulʼs was built in the 1870s, it seated more than 300 people despite serving a Catholic community of only a few dozen faithful. …
Today, the parish is home to almost 20,000 Catholics from more than 120 nations. …
Designed by Italian architect Edoardo A. Mella, the church took 12 years to complete. Its construction was financed through an international fundraising effort led by parish priest Father Daniel Stub, who secured support from Pope Pius IX, Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria, Queen Josephine of Norway and Sweden, and Catholics across Europe.
