European Union Offers ‘Associate Membership’ to Canada
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen offered Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney a special “associate member” status in the European Union (EU) on Wednesday as Canada’s rift with the United States widens.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Saturday that Carney was making an “audacious bid” for Canada to take its relationship with the EU to the “next level.” According to this report, Carney began lighting up the phones of leaders across Europe months ago when Canada’s trade dispute with the United States grew more serious …
The terms of this “associate membership” were vague, but would ostensibly include “frictionless” movement of Canadian goods, services, and workers into European markets, possibly with visa-free travel and residence for Canadians in Europe.

Trump Calls Canada-EU Proposal ‘Laughable,’ Threatens More Tariffs
President Donald Trump has threatened to take action against the EU if it moves forward with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s proposal to make Canada the bloc’s first associate member.
“If they do that, if I think it’s at all a hostile act, I will put very serious tariffs or stop trading with Europe on many things,” Trump told reporters en route to an event in North Carolina, calling the proposal “laughable.”
“If it’s a good intention, that’s fine. If it’s a bad intention, we’ll put very heavy tariffs on Europe,” he added.

Elon Musk PAC Steps Up with Big Bucks to Fund Key Swing-State Races
With the midterm elections less than two months away, Elon Musk’s America PAC is funneling money into Maine congressional races to help maintain GOP control.
Musk’s PAC has dedicated $170,000 to ads, phone calls, mailers, and text messages supporting GOP Sen. Susan Collins, who is running against Democrat Troy Jackson, according to The Center Square.
Collins’ seat is crucial for Republicans and could determine which party controls the upper chamber for the final two years of Trump’s presidency. Republicans currently hold a 53-47 seat majority but have little room for error, given the Senate map.
Initially, Collins’ seat was thought to be safe after her original challenger Graham Platner was marred by scandal.
When he dropped out of the race in July, however, Jackson took his place and gave Democrats a fighting chance.

Lambeth Palace reversed course after reports surfaced of Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi’s past remarks about Osama bin Laden and his support for Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has withdrawn an interfaith award she presented to a Pakistani Muslim cleric after reports revealed that he had previously praised Osama bin Laden, an honor made all the more controversial because it was presented on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Dame Sarah Mullally, the leader of the Church of England, presented Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi with the Hubert Walter Award for Reconciliation and Interfaith Cooperation during a Sept. 11 ceremony at Lambeth Palace.
The award recognized Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, for what Lambeth Palace described as his work “promoting interfaith harmony” and supporting religious minorities in Pakistan.
But a report Thursday by The Telegraph revealed a considerably more complicated record, including Ashrafi’s past remarks about Osama bin Laden and his support for Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy laws.

Britain’s universities have started the new term the only way the education establishment knows how: by sitting 18-year-olds down and asking them to confess their “White privilege” before they are even allowed to unpack in halls.
The same system that cannot keep White British children in grammar schools, and that now puts seven-year-old girls into taxpayer-funded mandatory hijabs, has decided the urgent problem on campus is that freshers have not yet internalised enough racial guilt.
New students at the University of Northampton have been told to complete an “Introduction to Race Equity” course as part of Freshers’ Week induction.

Gaza Catholic school reopens for 1,000 pupils after nearly three years of war
THE school attached to the Gaza’s only Roman Catholic Church proudly opened its doors again this morning (Tuesday, 15th September) – a sign of hope as the death toll in the strip rose to 73,789.
Father Gabriel Romanelli said he hoped the re-opening of the school after almost three years of war, since the Hamas attacks on 7th October 2023, will be “like a light in the darkness for the local community that has experienced so much suffering.”
Fr Romanelli told a delegation from Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), that was visiting the Holy Land to assess the needs of the local Church and hear first-hand about their situation, that “the needs in Gaza are enormous”.
The parish priest of Holy Family Catholic Church told the ACN delegation: “For the students and the families, re-opening the school will bring some sense of normality. We have worked hard to ensure that it is a safe environment.

Illinois legislator pays homage to favorite son Venerable Sheen on House floor
Rep. Darin LaHood, representing Illinois’ 16th District including Peoria, spoke on the House floor to honor Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen’s legacy ahead of his September 24, 2026 beatification in St. Louis.
Sheen, born in El Paso, IL and ordained in Peoria, pioneered Catholic radio and TV ministry with shows like “Life is Worth Living” that reached up to 30 million viewers weekly in the 1950s.
As the first American-born bishop beatified, Sheen is a point of pride for Central Illinois, with LaHood expressing hope for his future canonization as Saint Fulton Sheen of Peoria.

When the great conservative website The Daily Wire expanded into film production five years ago, I cheered. My own traditional fiction writing had become politically incorrect for about a decade, due to such suddenly undesirable elements as strong masculine heroes, sexy women, romance, patriotism, foreign villains, and leftist fanatics. My first article for American Spectator in 2018 posited why a blockbuster action film like Taken would never be made by Hollywood just 10 years later. And things only got worse after that.
But here was The Daily Wire, promising to make the right kind of pictures and serve the audience that Hollywood snubbed. The much lower budget wasn’t a problem. There were enough good conservative writers like me to tell appealing stories without destroying Metropolis, and absent the “strong” women dulling every mainstream movie. The top DW producer even pushed for a film version of my Great American Novel, Paper Tigers, project ultimately nixed. …
Run Hide Fight: Infidels is the most fun conservative fiction movie of the decade. Not the best, which may be The Sound of Freedom, but a thoroughly enjoyable — though quite brutal — action romp from start to end. Writer-director Kyle Rankin’s far superior sequel to his somber 2020 Run Hide Fight delivers the perfect update on John Milius’s classic Red Dawn, with college boys counterattacking unabashedly repulsive Muslim terrorists who have seized their university.
