Trump rallies for Nebraska Republicans in Grand Island, signs diesel order
President Donald Trump came to Grand Island on Monday to rally support for U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts, Gov. Jim Pillen and Nebraska’s Republican ticket. He also signed an executive order onstage that he said will lower diesel costs for truckers and farmers.
It was Trump’s first campaign stop in Nebraska since 2022 and part of a midterm swing through Republican-leaning states. Ricketts faces a challenge from independent Dan Osborn, who is backed by the Nebraska Democratic Party, while Pillen faces Democrat Lynne Walz.
“With your support, just 29 days from now, Nebraska is going to defeat the radical left Democrats once again,” Trump told the crowd at the Nebraska State Fair’s Pinnacle Bank Expo Center.
Trump praised Ricketts, Pillen and U.S. Rep. Adrian Smith and urged the crowd to turn out for the midterms.

Abdul El-Sayed confronted on Soros ties after ridiculing politicians for taking corporate money
The Michigan Democratic Senate nominee says accepting from wealthy individual donors differs from soliciting corporate cash
Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed was challenged over his ties to billionaire Democratic mega-donor George Soros after criticizing his Republican opponent Mike Rogers for accepting money from corporations.
“There’s a big difference there,” El-Sayed said during an exclusive interview with “The Story” Monday.
El-Sayed’s graduate education was partially funded by the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans and George Soros’ wealthy nephew, Jeffrey Soros, hosted El-Sayed at a Los Angeles fundraiser last month, according to footage reviewed by Fox News Digital.
As El-Sayed campaigns on a pledge to get “money out of politics,” he was pressed by anchor Martha MacCallum on Monday about whether his relationships with wealthy donors undercut that message.

British Police Clamp Down on Locals as 120 Migrants Are Brought into [coastal town of] Gosport
British police imposed restrictions across Gosport on Sunday night as around 120 migrants were brought ashore, while locals protesting were confined to a designated area. Matt Goodwin [British political commendator] accused Labour of ‘locking down’ UK territory to facilitate illegal immigration, while Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage demanded that future migrant boats be sent to Dover.
British police imposed sweeping lockdown-style restrictions across the coastal town of Gosport on Sunday night as around 120 illegal migrants were brought ashore by authorities, while anti-immigration protesters and locals gathered to oppose their arrival.
The migrants reached Gosport aboard two RNLI lifeboats after their dinghy, which had launched from near Utah Beach in Normandy, was met in British waters. As soon as speculation emerged about the planned arrival of illegal migrants, around a hundred people gathered near Haslar Marina to express their resistance and outrage, chanting ‘send them back’, ‘deport the lot’ and ‘shame on you’ as police blocked access around the dock.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary placed virtually the entire town under a Section 34 dispersal order until 7 am on Tuesday, empowering officers to direct individuals to leave an area and prevent their return for a specified period. While not formally a lockdown, police also confined protests to a designated section of Walpole car park and activated powers against face coverings across Gosport and Portsmouth.
Reform UK councillor George Madgwick, who recorded and posted footage from the scene of the boats entering Portsmouth Harbour, said he could not believe the government had allowed illegal migrants to dock in the ‘home of the Royal Navy’, adding that ordinary local families were ‘horrified at what they are witnessing’.

POPE LEO RECEIVES A RELIC OF BLESSED FULTON SHEEN FROM PEORIA’S BISHOP
Bishop Louis Tylka of Peoria, Illinois, presented Pope Leo XIV with a relic of the recently beatified Blessed Fulton Sheen during a private audience at the Vatican Oct. 5.
Bishop Tylka was one of four U.S. bishops who met the pope on Monday. The pope also received 75-year-old Archbishop Thomas G. Wenski of Miami for an individual private audience, as well as the leadership of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
For the bishop of Peoria, the opportunity to give the Chicago-born pope the relic was “a profound joy and privilege,” especially because of Pope Leo’s personal interest in Blessed Fulton Sheen, who was beatified in St. Louis on Sept. 24 with about 50,000 people in attendance.
“To place a relic of this son of the Diocese of Peoria into the hands of the first American pope, both of whom are from Illinois, was an especially moving moment,” Bishop Tylka said in a statement following the papal audience.

Pope writes to Gaza priest after strike kills 5, including Christian mother, daughter
The pastor of Gaza’s only Catholic parish revealed that Pope Leo XIV sent a personal condolence message following an Israeli missile strike that killed five people, including a Christian mother and daughter.
In his daily video update posted to YouTube Oct. 4, Father Gabriel Romanelli, pastor of Holy Family Parish, read the pope’s ”beautiful message” he received earlier, just one day after the missile strike that killed Maysa Khader Ibrahim Abu Daoud and her daughter, Mary Hafez Michel Najjar.
“Good morning, Father Gabriele. Ever since hearing the painful news about Maysa and Mary, I’ve been praying for them, their families, and everyone in Gaza. ‘How long, Lord?’” Pope Leo wrote, echoing a lament from Psalm 13.
