Pope Leo diagnosed with lung cancer after successful surgery, press office announces

The press office said the diagnosis was suspected after pre-operative examinations of the Pontiff. The update comes on the anniversary of the day of the final apparition at Fatima, Portugal, where thousands had gathered the evening before to pray for the Holy Father’s successful operation.

Pope Leo XIV has been diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma, a common type of lung cancer, the Holy See Press Office announced Oct. 13. The diagnosis was confirmed following a successful operation earlier that day to remove a small, localized nodule from the Pontiff’s lung.

The office initially said on X that the surgery was completed “within the expected timeframe and as planned, and the Holy Father has returned to his room.” The second update, which included the cancer diagnosis, stated that Pope Leo underwent thoracic surgery and that the operation lasted about 90 minutes.

“To ensure a radical resection, the lower lobe of his right lung was removed using a video-assisted technique,” the office stated. “An intraoperative histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma, as suspected from the preoperative examinations.”

Chicago Catholics Pray Outside Pope Leo XIV’s Childhood Home

Catholic residents of Chicago on Tuesday held a prayer vigil at Pope Leo XIV’s childhood home in Dolton, Illinois, while the Pontiff – who hails from the city – underwent surgery in Rome.

Pope Leo XIV, Chicago-born Robert Francis Prevost, underwent surgery at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The Vatican later confirmed the Pope has lung cancer after surgeons removed the lower lobe of his right lung.

Tissue examined during the operation confirmed the diagnosis of “lung adenocarcinoma,” confirming suspicions from pre-operative tests.

At Dolton, just a few miles away from Chicago, a group of Catholic Faithful gathered outside the Pope’s childhood home to unite in prayer for the pontiff’s health alongside Vatican officials visiting Chicago. Some of the Faithful gathered told ABC7 that the news of the Pope’s cancer diagnosis “hit them like that of a family member.”

Trump rally puts Wasilla [Alaska] in national campaign spotlight

The president’s rally in the bedroom community north of Anchorage is a sign of Alaska’s importance in the fight for U.S. Senate control
The bedroom community made famous during former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s 2008 vice presidential run took center stage on Monday in the national fight for control of Congress.

President Donald Trump came to Wasilla to campaign for U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan, a Republican facing a stiff challenge from former U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola, a Democrat. The outcome could determine which party controls the U.S. Senate.

The venue for Trump’s campaign rally, which followed a similar rally last week in Fairbanks that was headlined by Vice President JD Vance, was the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center. The facility can hold up to 3,500 people. …

Particularly happy with Trump’s visit was Republican gubernatorial candidate Bernadette Wilson, who won the president’s endorsement on Tuesday.

“Thank you President President Donald J. Trump! I am incredibly honored to have your support and look forward to partnering with your Administration to bring lasting prosperity to Alaska! Alaska conservatives are united to win this race!” she said on her Facebook page.

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s staff got her birthdate changed officially after being elected to Congress: records

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s staff helped get her birthdate changed in public records once the Minnesota Democrat was elected to Congress in 2018, a switch that has since spurred frenzied accusations that she misrepresented her age to secure US citizenship.

The alteration could offer a big clue as to what federal immigration agents were searching for when they raided her DC home Monday: If the congresswoman is actually one year older than she’s claimed to be, that would mean she couldn’t have legally become a US citizen in 2000, critics contend.

Omar’s birthdate had been listed in the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library as Oct. 4, 1981, as well as on reference sites such as Wikipedia and in media outlets like the BBC, for the entire time she served in the state House and for several months into her congressional term.

By The Past Standards Of The U.S. Military, Nidal Hasan’s Scheduled Execution Is Remarkably Polite by Chris Bray

Betrayal, dishonor, cowardly violence, willful cruelty to defenseless victims: rapid and certain execution upon discovery. This is the American military norm, though it began to shift after World War II as the military justice system was steadily reformed to look more like civilian justice.

To understand the upcoming execution of Nidal Hasan, understand Plot E at Oise-Aisne.

At the beginning of June 1943, American soldiers searching for a missing nine-year-old girl in Algeria found her body face down in a field. An army doctor examined the body and concluded that the child had been sexually assaulted and suffocated, probably several days earlier.

A soldier, Pvt. James Kendrick, had been seen with the girl. He told a series of shifting stories that ended with the claim that the sexually aggressive child had come on to him and asked to have sex, after which she suddenly and inexplicably just started to choke. Kendrick’s court-martial opened on June 12, quickly convicting him and sentencing him to death. He was executed by hanging on July 17.

Pay close attention to the timeline: crime in very late May, discovery in early June, trial in mid-June, execution in mid-July. …

Victor Davis Hanson weighs in on public execution of Nidal Hasan

Fort Hood in 2009, is scheduled to be publicly executed Dec. 3, 2026. While Americans are still conflicted on a public execution, the Left rushed to downplay the severity of Hasan’s murders. Obama famously called it “workplace violence” and the former Secretary of the Army George Casey said that “diversity” could never become “a casualty.” – @DailySignal

“Thirteen years later, he’s appealed, and he’s appealed the appeals, and he’s taken every civilian and military avenue at government expense with legal counsel to get out of this, and now it’s run out and the sentence will be carried out,” @VDHanson said.
