Trump-Musk feud over budget bill intensifies

Tensions between President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk escalated Thursday as the two clashed online over Trump’s new budget bill.

At the center of the dispute is Trump’s sweeping “Big, Beautiful Bill,” a budget reconciliation package that includes significant tax cuts, defunds Planned Parenthood, bans Medicaid funding for “gender transition” procedures, and expands school choice programs.

“No, Elon, you did not elect President Trump. The American people did.”

In this tussle between the president and Elon Musk … [a]t first, I was set to say “No big deal. These disagreements over legislation happen — now and all throughout history. ...

Yet there, out of the blue, is Elon Musk saying this on X: “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude.” …

But this is a moment to stand up for President Trump and say the obvious. Which is, plainly put: “No, Elon, you did not elect President Trump. The American people did.”

Gutfeld to Trump, Musk: Knock It Off, Don't Sabotage The Golden Age With A Self-Inflicted Feud

I think what you're seeing is a battle between the purist and the pragmatist. I don't like it. I want it to stop. I want to tell them if they're both watching, knock it off. We're done with this.

This is an incredible moment for our country. It's awake. It's optimistic. It's on board with the golden age. Don't sabotage it with the self-inflicted feud. Don't let the Dems get back up from the floor where they belong.

Catholics For Catholics Demands Accountability From The FBI For Large-Scale Anti-Catholic Surveillance Program

Catholics for Catholics President, John C. Yep, is outraged that the FBI under former President Joe Biden had the audacity to do a nationwide investigation of traditional Catholic groups.

New information just released indicates that the FBI was doing far more than using a single office to probe Catholics, said Yep. In fact, the newly revealed files that were acquired by Charles E. Grassley, Senate Judiciary Chairman, show that the Bureau was conducting a national investigation on traditional believers.

A Nigerian-born priest who served in the Diocese of Fairbanks, Alaska for more than half a decade has been captured by the terrorist group Boko Haram after returning to his home country.

Afina served in the Alaskan diocese for six and a half years before returning to Nigeria last April, the bishop said.

America’s DEI colleges get an ‘F’ on free expression

Another chaotic school year has ended at universities, and the graduates have danced across the stage waving diplomas that are shrinking in significance. Here’s hoping college administrators find time during their leisurely summer breaks to recognize their roles in diminishing the academy, largely because they have lost a commitment to rigorous truth-seeking that can only happen when ideas are freely debated.

Americans should all be concerned about the sad condition of higher education. Confidence in these previously esteemed institutions has cratered. Perhaps the saddest aspect of this decline is that the supposed intellectuals in charge of these colleges and universities have created this crisis themselves.

Supreme Court sides 9-0 with woman discriminated against in favor of homosexual co-workers

The U.S. Supreme Court issued a unanimous opinion today siding with an Ohio woman who had asserted in a lower court case that she suffered discrimination when a state agency passed over her for a promotion because she does not identify as “LGBTQ+.”

According to court documents, Marlean Ames had worked for the Ohio Department of Youth Services since 2004. In 2019, the agency interviewed Ames for a new management position, but ultimately chose to hire a lesbian.

Swiss Suicide Pod Case Takes Another Deadly Turn

On Sept. 23, 2024, a 64-year-old unidentified American woman, said to be suffering from a severely compromised immune system, climbed into the device — a 3D-printed, coffin-sized capsule called the Sarco (short for sarcophagus) — and pressed a button to release nitrogen gas and remove all oxygen from the chamber, causing her to asphyxiate. ...

The controversial case has taken several dramatic turns since then, culminating on May 5 with another suicide: this time, of the activist “guide” who witnessed the woman’s suicide outside a cabin in the mountains and was initially accused of strangling her — an allegation that was later dismissed.

Five Quick Things: Is Katie Hobbs a Traitor?

She keeps protecting CCP interests — at the expense of national security.

Around the country, states are implementing bans on landowning by Chinese entities around sensitive areas. Arizona has lots of those, not to mention it’s a border state, and it’s really not a good idea to have foreign adversaries owning land along the Mexican border.

Tell that to Hobbs, though, and you won’t get anywhere. ...

How Democrats Can Stop Alienating Young Men: Some Unsolicited Advice

Last November, Donald Trump soundly defeated Kamala Harris among young men 18 to 29 years old, racking up about 56 percent of their votes according to the Associated Press. That represents a huge decline from 2008, the climax of the Barack Obama coalition, when the Democratic candidate won 62 percent of the young male vote against GOP challenger John McCain.

Accordingly, the party is spending $20 million on a special multiyear effort called “Speaking With American Men: A Strategic Plan.” The project, the New York Times recently reported, will “study the syntax, language, and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces.”

The Quest to Bring Young Men Back to the Democrats

In the months leading up to the 2024 election, and particularly after the ascension of Vice President Kamala Harris to the top of the presidential ticket, Democrats found themselves particularly vexed about the best way to reach young men and bring them into their coalition.

Their fears that they were falling short in this regard were borne out in November, when the majority of young men between ages 18 and 29 voted Republican. That trend cut across racial lines: Young white men supported President Donald Trump overwhelmingly but young Black and Latino men swung toward Trump by an even larger margin than their white counterparts from 2020 to 2024 — even as majorities supported Harris.

Under The Guise Of ‘Preventative Medicine’ For IVF, Eugenics Is Back

Most people are familiar with eugenics as a disturbing and morally repugnant artifact from the past, something we associate with Nazi experiments and racial pseudo-science. But it’s making a comeback in our time thanks to new branding and new technology. Call it neo-eugenics, coming soon to an IVF clinic near you. …

[N]ow eugenics is making a comeback thanks to Peter Thiel-inspired libertarian tech-bros who have, no kidding, rebranded it “preventative medicine.” This week, a company called Nucleus Genomics, a genetics testing startup founded by a 25-year-old named Kian Sadeghi, unveiled a new product called Nucleus Embryo that allows parents to screen embryos created through IVF by projected IQ, height, eye color, and hundreds of other traits before deciding which to implant and which to discard.

Pope Leo, Mathematician: Math-Minded Catholics Claim Pope as One of Their Own

“The first American pope” is not the first thing that occurred to mathematician Martin Nowak when the former Cardinal Robert Prevost appeared on the balcony overlooking St. Peter’s Square last month. Instead, he fixed on the Pope’s new name.

“Leo” has three letters. And his regnal number — XIV, or 14 — comes after that. Put them together and what do you get? 3 … 1 … 4 — 3.14.

“So it’s Pope Pi. ... the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — is an infinite number, and one of many concepts that Bob Prevost, as he was known before entering religious life, likely studied as a math major at Villanova University from 1973 to 1977 Read more at EWTN Vatican

“A Pure Miracle”: D-Day Prayers

On June 6, 1944, Americans awakened to electrifying news: Allied forces had landed on the beaches of Normandy, beginning the invasion of Nazi-occupied France. Code-named Operation Overlord, the Battle of Normandy involved the largest armada in the history of the world. Some 5,333 ships and landing craft carrying 175,000 men, including 57,500 Americans, took part.

The Second World War had raged in Europe for five years, with Nazi Germany invading and destroying one country after another, slaughtering tens of millions, soldiers and civilians alike. When news of the long-awaited invasion came over the radios of American parents, wives, siblings, and children, they immediately began to pray.
