Cory Booker calls LA riots 'peaceful' as violence escalates
Sen. Cory Booker described the riots in Los Angeles as "peaceful protests" during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, while also accusing President Donald Trump of fueling the chaos with his policies opposing illegal immigration. "The reality is, we see peaceful protests launching in Los Angeles," Booker said.
"A lot of these peaceful protests are being generated because the president of the United States is sowing chaos and confusion by arresting people who are showing up for their immigration hearings."

ICE is enforcing the law. Trump is right to send National Guard to protect them -- Opinion
The images of fires burning and smoking rising above the streets of Los Angeles make America's second-largest city look like a war zone.
But it's not war. It's what happens when a Republican president enforces the law in a state as far left and as lost as California.
President Donald Trump ordered 2,000 National Guard troops to restore peace in Los Angeles after protesters set fires, defaced buildings, slashed vehicle tires and hurled pieces of concrete at local police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

The Left Loves Riots Because It Hates Civilization
A lot of people are upset about these images of violent protesters in Los Angeles waving the Mexican flag. If they love Mexico so much, why are they so upset at enforcing our laws against illegal entry?
To fully appreciate their significance, it’s important to understand that, over the last several decades, the people who run California and its major cities came to a new consensus: a large number of our laws were racist and oppressive.

Republicans Have No Good Reason To Vote Against Funding Mass Deportations
The Republican-led House narrowly passed the “big, beautiful bill” in May following intense debate within the Republican caucus. Still, the legislation faces hurdles in the Senate, where some Republicans oppose the bill, including Sen. Rand Paul, who says he is a “no” because it will raise the debt ceiling.
But no concern — not even national debt — outweighs the most vital effect of this legislation — funding mass deportations.

Democrats Blocking Brian Burch for Vatican Ambassador
Continuing their commitment to obstructing much of what President Trump has attempted to do to strengthen relationships with global leaders, the Democrats have now insulted millions of faithful Catholics by blocking the confirmation of Brian Burch, the President’s choice to serve as the Ambassador to the Vatican.
It was a strategic move on the part of the Democratic Senators to demand an unprecedented cloture vote on Burch, requiring three-fifths of the Senate to vote in favor of the nominee. The denial by the Senate prevented Burch from participating in Pope Leo XVI’s installation as pontiff on Sunday, May 18, and has significantly impeded his ability to begin to establish a working relationship with the new pope.

Pope Leo XIV on Pentecost: the Holy Spirit challenges our digital isolation
Pope Leo XIV has marked Pentecost Sunday by describing how the Holy Spirit “is the Gift that opens our lives to love” and opens borders in people’s hearts. This is in sharp contrast to what he discussed as the isolating impact of social media and modern communication platforms that leave people “confused and solitary travellers” overwhelmed by the crowd.
“The Spirit accomplished something extraordinary in the lives of the Apostles,” said the Pope, speaking on the Solemnity of Pentecost that marks the day when the Holy Spirit came down on the 12 Apostles, ten days after the Ascension of Jesus.

The spectacular tradition of red rose petals fluttering down through the oculus of the Pantheon
On Pentecost Sunday, the Pantheon in Rome hosts a unique tradition where red rose petals are released from an opening at the top of the dome during Mass. This symbolic gesture is a powerful reminder of the tongues of fire that appeared above the Apostles when the Holy Spirit descended upon them.
