Bongino Announces Major Arrest In Attack Against U.S. Border Agents
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has announced a major arrest in a case involving rock attacks against federal immigration authorities that left one agent wounded.

At least 10 children — as young as 2 years old — were held captive in an Alabama storm bunker for three years and sexually tortured through the use of tools like animal shock collars as part of a horrific sex trafficking ring organized by some of the victims’ own parents, police said.
So far, seven suspects have been arrested as part of the ring’s roundup, including three family members and two mothers whose children were also trapped and abused in the basement, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department said.
“I know God’s forgiveness is boundless, but if there is a limit, we’ve reached it,” Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade said at a press conference Wednesday.

Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys representing Jessica Bates filed a lawsuit in April 2023 challenging an Oregon Department of Human Services rule that categorically excluded her from adopting any child—no matter their age or beliefs—because she would not lie to children and tell them that girls can be boys and vice versa.

In a historic first, Italy’s government and the Catholic hierarchy have opened the doors for Muslim chaplains to serve officially in Italian prisons, despite fears that an Islamic chaplaincy could fuel increased radicalization of Muslim prisoners.
Imam Dahmane Abdullah Tchina, who was appointed to the Beccaria Juvenile Penal Institute in Milan last week, has become the first Muslim chaplain to minister in Italy’s prison system. The imam will work alongside Catholic chaplains Fr. Claudio Burgio and Fr. Gino Rigoldi. On July 7, the Milan archdiocese announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Public Prosecutor and the President of the Juvenile Court of Milan, permitting the imam to work in the prison system.

Shake-Up in Detroit: New Archbishop Fires Ralph Martin and Eduardo Echeverria
Two prominent theologians who critiqued what they saw as doctrinal ambiguity under the late Pope Francis have been fired from their longtime posts at the Archdiocese of Detroit’s major seminary by the local archbishop, the Register has confirmed.
Archbishop Edward Weisenburger removed Ralph Martin and Eduardo Echeverria from their positions at Sacred Heart Major Seminary on July 23, both theologians told the Register separately.
Echeverria said that no reason had been provided to him for his termination, and that he could not say more due to signing a non-disclosure agreement. Martin said that he would soon be issuing a statement.

A lineup of Los Angeles business leaders joined Archbishop José H. Gomez on Wednesday to unveil a new fund aimed at helping families affected by recent immigration raids.
“This program will provide direct support to families who are suffering financial hardships because of the current climate of uncertainty and fear,” said Archbishop Gomez at the July 23 press conference at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church near downtown LA.
Funds raised by the Archdiocese of LA’s “Family Assistance Program” — believed to be the first of its kind in a U.S. Catholic diocese — will support parish-based outreach ministries that have been delivering groceries, meals, medicine, and other essential supplies. Auxiliary Bishop Ramón Bejarano recently celebrated St. John the Evangelist Church’s annual “All are Welcome” LGBT “Pride” Mass and allowed “Nicole” Murray-Ramirez, an LGBT “drag queen” activist and longtime San Diego City Commissioner, to speak during the Mass.
Bejarano was the celebrant of the July 13 Sunday Mass, which was organized by St. John’s “LGBTQ Ministry” and had the full backing of the Diocese of San Diego under Bishop Michael Pham, one of Pope Leo XIV’s first bishop’s appointments. During his speech, Murray-Ramirez, a former board member of the pro-LGBT group Human Rights Campaign, thanked Bishop Bejarano for his work “standing up” for the “LGBTQ community.”

Originally from China, Shushu arrived in Spain in 2016 at just 23 years of age with the sole purpose of studying the history of the Spanish language. What she didn’t imagine was that she would have a transformative encounter with Christ Crucified, which would lead her to embrace the Catholic faith.
“We have no merit; it’s all because the Lord guides us. His mercy is immense,” said Shushu in an interview with ACI Prensa, CNA’s Spanish-language news partner, at the shrine of Our Lady of Covadonga in Spain. She related that her childhood was spent in a profoundly atheistic environment, typical of communist China, where neither her family nor her closest friends believed in or spoke of God.
Despite this, when she looked at the cross, she thought: “There is a person on the cross. And by supernatural intuition, I thought it was God, that God himself was on the cross, and it couldn’t be anyone else,” she said.
