Democrats insist that “Black Lives Matter,” yet many increasingly embrace policies that protect violent criminals at the expense of black victims.
What these Democrats ignore is that criminals overwhelmingly prey on people like themselves. About 90 percent of black homicide victims are killed by other people, and 70 percent of black violent crime victims are victimized by a black offender.
Abdul El-Sayed, the projected Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, has argued that systemic racism shapes the criminal justice system and has advocated defunding the police and reducing imprisonment. In tweets and interviews in 2020 and 2021, he made comments such as, “I believe that we do need to defund the police,” and “The police have become standing armies we deploy against our own people.”
Darializa Avila Chevalier, who won the Democratic nomination for Congress in New York City and appears likely to win the general election, campaigns on abolishing prisons and would not even say that murderers belong in prison. When asked why he supported Chevalier, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani replied that she represented the “politics of life.”

El Sayed hails ‘inspiring’ call with Obama, hopes former president hits campaign trail
Progressive Democrat Abdul el Sayed revealed he spoke with former President Barack Obama after his Senate primary victory against Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) in Michigan last week.
The Democratic nominee described his conversation with the former president as “warm and inspiring” while the candidate turns his attention toward the general election.
“I really enjoyed the conversation,” el Sayed said on NBC News’s Sunday morning program Meet the Press. “I was grateful for his advice. It was very warm, very inviting, and I know that he knows the critical role that Michigan is going to play in holding Trump accountable, in winning back the Senate, and in building forward the future that we need.”

Today, an increasing number of Americans across the political spectrum – from Make America Healthy Again activists to everyday shoppers – are voicing concern about the health impact of ultraprocessed foods – those boxed and wrapped in plastic, ready-to-eat items lining grocery store shelves.
Leading the charge are two men who disagree on pretty much everything else about public health – Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. David Kessler, the former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
As we first reported in February, the two men have found common ground over a common culprit: a 67-year-old government classification for substances in our food. It’s called GRAS, or generally recognized as safe. Kennedy and Kessler say it has allowed big food companies to use ingredients without a full government safety review and flood the market with ultraprocessed foods that now make up 50% of our calories and 60% of our children’s diets.

Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham was knocked to the floor by Chicago Sky’s DiJonai Carrington on Saturday, escalating a dispute that had so far remained verbal and online. The row was sparked by Cunningham’s criticism of transgender participation in women’s sports and was even joined by former NBA players who ridiculed the debate by announcing plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft as women.
Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham was knocked to the floor by a blow to the head and neck from Chicago Sky’s DiJonai Carrington on Saturday, adding another episode to the growing series of, until now, verbal confrontations over transgender players in women’s basketball.
Carrington caught Cunningham from behind as she drove for a layup, and officials upgraded the foul to a Flagrant 2 after finding ‘windup, impact and follow-through’, automatically ejecting her. Cunningham later said she ‘absolutely’ believed the hit was intentional.
Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines, one of the most prominent supporters of Cunningham since she spoke out against biological males competing against women in July, posted a photograph of the foul shortly afterwards. ‘The price of standing for girls and women,’ Gaines wrote. Cunningham said she had barely spoken to Carrington before the incident and had no personal feud with her. ‘I guess she has some pent-up stuff,’ she said after Indiana’s 90–86 victory.

Spain Fears New Ceuta Mass Crossing as August 15 Threat Grows
Spanish ministers face parliamentary scrutiny over the handling of the crisis as Brussels considers using trade and visa pressure against Morocco.
Spain is bracing for a possible second mass migrant crossing into Ceuta as the political fallout from last week’s unprecedented border breach spreads from Madrid to Brussels.
The Guardia Civil is closely monitoring social media messages calling on migrants to gather in the Moroccan border town of Castillejos on August 15 before attempting to enter the Spanish enclave.
Sources within the force told 20 minutos that the threat was “more than a rumour,” with mobilisation messages circulating through WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook groups with as many as 400,000 members.
Officials believe another influx on the scale of July 30—when Spanish authorities say more than 72,000 migrants crossed from Morocco—is unlikely because security has since been dramatically reinforced. But Interior Ministry sources acknowledged that another attempted mass entry was a real possibility, saying authorities would be prepared.
