RUBIO URGES CUBANS TO WORK WITH CIA, BUT WARNS: BE DISCREET [ARTICLE]
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday called for Cubans to make “discreet” contact with the American intelligence services as Washington seeks to force an end to the island’s communist government.
For months, President Donald Trump and other senior US officials have openly hinted at a military intervention or takeover of Cuba, ramping up economic, political and legal pressure on the country.
“To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba — now is the time,” Rubio said on social media.
“The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA.”
The unusual post appeared to confirm that the CIA is currently active in Cuba after a long history of covert operations including backing the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961.

AT LEAST 6 KILLED, DOZENS WOUNDED IN JORDAN AS GUNMEN OPEN FIRE IN CHURCH DURING FUNERAL [ARTICLE]
Jordan’s Public Security Directorate said unidentified gunmen opened fire inside a church in Karak province.
At least six people were killed and 28 others injured, some seriously, when gunmen opened fire Friday during a funeral at a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hamoud in Karak province, southern Jordan.
Jordan’s Public Security Directorate said unidentified gunmen opened fire inside a church in Karak province, causing deaths and injuries. It said security forces were pursuing those involved. Its initial statement did not specify the number of casualties or identify the shooters.
Jordan’s Al-Mamlaka television channel, citing a source, reported that two gunmen got out of a vehicle and opened fire during a funeral at the church in Hamoud.
Reuters quoted a funeral attendee as saying that one gunman carried a rifle and the other a handgun. The witness said the shooting lasted several minutes and targeted a gathering of dozens of mourners. The news agency also reported that security forces had deployed around the church and begun searching for the two suspects.

VATICAN BARS ANNUAL TLM PILGRIMAGE FROM ENTERING ST. PETER’S BASILICA [ARTICLE]
According to organizers, the decision was communicated in a letter from the Vatican Secretariat of State
The Vatican will bar priests, religious and lay faithful participating in the annual Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage from entering St. Peter’s Basilica on Saturday, Oct. 24, extending restrictions beyond the celebration of the traditional Latin Mass to the pilgrims’ customary gathering for prayer at the tomb of St. Peter.
According to the organizers, the decision was communicated in recent days in a letter from the Vatican Secretariat of State. “Your procession is not allowed to enter into St. Peter’s Basilica,” the letter stated, according to Christian Marquant, the pilgrimage’s chief organizer.
Speaking on Friday afternoon at the conclusion of a conference at the Augustinianum, Marquant, President of Paix Liturgique, announced the Secretariat of State’s decision to participants. “We will not enter into St. Peter’s tomorrow,” he said, adding that accusations had been made that last year’s Mass was “instrumentalized.”
The decision follows an earlier refusal to authorize the celebration of the traditional Latin Mass inside the Vatican Basilica. The latest restriction goes further, preventing pilgrims from entering as a group to pray before the tomb of the Apostle Peter.
