IF TRUE, LATEST POLL ON BLACK VOTER SUPPORT FOR EL-SAYED COULD BE AN ELECTION DAY KILLER BY MATT VESPA [ARTICLE]

I can’t be certain this survey is accurate. That got tossed out when numerous firms intentionally posted fake polls, and they all used the same excuse: they were conducting a social experiment. We’re flying blind here, with some saying that Democrats could net 230-plus seats in the House, only for news to break that polls are tightening in the Midwest and Democrats are now more bearish on their chances of a blue wave. Two scenarios, two different outcomes, and both cannot occupy the same space. Yet in Michigan, Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers is clinching 33 percent of the Black vote. If that holds, Abdul El-Sayed could be toast.

Since the primary, the two voter blocs El-Sayed struggled mightily with were black and Jewish voters, the two biggest minority voting blocs in the country. That project has seen no improvement, as Jewish Democrats in the Detroit suburbs are supporting Rogers, along with black voters. Also, Abdul, ordering fried chicken isn’t good black voter outreach. …

TRUMP’S DOJ SENDS 1,000 ELECTION MONITORS TO 50 STATES; LOCATIONS NOT YET DISCLOSED [ARTICLE]

The U.S. Department of Justice plans to send election monitors to every state ahead of Election Day, expanding a long-standing practice that’s spurred concern this year among Democrats and voting rights advocates because of President Donald Trump’s push to influence elections.

The Justice Department for decades has deployed monitors across the country to watch the voting process. During President Joe Biden’s administration, the DOJ sent monitors to 64 jurisdictions across 24 states for the 2022 midterm elections.

The 2026 monitoring program is larger, with the Justice Department announcing it will have a presence in all 50 states. DOJ spokesperson Kiersten Pels told States Newsroom on Monday that about 1,000 monitors will be involved but that the department won’t disclose the full list of monitored locations until Election Day — Nov. 3.

“Every monitor will merely observe and report any potential violations of federal law to the Department, which will be reviewed after Election Day,” Pels said in a statement.

U.S. BISHOPS URGE CENSUS BUREAU TO WITHDRAW PROPOSED RULE CHANGES [ARTICLE]

The proposed rule changes, open to public comment until Nov. 2, would count only citizens and lawful permanent residents in the census and would remove some demographic questions.

U.S. bishops are opposing proposed Census Bureau rule changes that would determine who is counted for congressional apportionment in the 2030 census, arguing that excluding noncitizens without lawful permanent resident status would effectively deny them recognition as persons.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued a public comment on Oct. 22 to the Commerce Department, which houses the Census Bureau, asking it to entirely withdraw the proposed changes, which the bishops say “conflict with our fundamental belief in the equal dignity of every person, the obligations of a just society, and legal precedent.”

The bishops compared the proposal to the Three-Fifths Compromise, calling to mind a constitutional provision rooted in slavery that was later changed and counted enslaved people as three-fifths of a person for purposes of congressional representation. They pointed to potential harm to federally funded healthcare, anti-poverty, family support, and infrastructure programs if millions of people are excluded from the census count.

WEST TEXAS CITY TO VOTE ON ‘SANCTUARY FOR THE UNBORN’ ORDINANCE [ARTICLE]

A West Texas city will not only be voting for elected officials but will also be deciding on a pro-life ordinance to protect the unborn from abortion trafficking.

Seminole is a small city that has a population of about 7,952 and sits 30 minutes away from Hobbs, New Mexico, a destination for one of the largest independent abortion providers in the U.S., Whole Woman’s Health.

Residents will vote on Proposition B, also referred to as Proposition 2, to decide whether the city adopts a “Sanctuary for the Unborn” ordinance. The ordinance would prohibit abortion and abortion pill trafficking to protect pregnant mothers and their unborn children from the dangers of abortion.

DEMOCRACY DIES IN BRAZIL? BOLSONARO FLEES LULA’S TOTALITARIAN CRACKDOWN AS TRUMP ADMIN PLANS TO GRANT VISAS [ARTICLE]

Bolsonaro Heading To US Amid Lula’s Political Crackdown

The Trump administration plans to issue visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family, Bloomberg reported late Tuesday evening, citing a senior State Department official.

The move follows a Brazilian Supreme Court order ordering Bolsonaro to surrender his passports after Sunday’s presidential runoff. …

The visas will allow Bolsonaro and his family to enter the US, the official said Tuesday. Bolsonaro is en route to the US and is likely to land in either Dallas or Miami, Folha de S.Paulo reported earlier in the day.

Brownstone Institute founder and president Jeffrey Tucker wrote on X: ‘Disaster is unfolding in Brazil. Obviously faked election results and totalitarian crackdown on opposition: could they trigger a US intervention? It could, which would also be a disaster. There are no solutions.’

The developments suggest Brazil could be on the verge of a political crisis, heightening tensions between the Trump administration and Lula’s socialist regime.

SIXTY PEOPLE KILLED IN ATTACK ON ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN VILLAGE IN ETHIOPIA [ARTICLE]

At least 60 people have been killed in attacks on Orthodox Christians that were carried out by an armed group in Ethiopia’s Shirka district, Oromia region, about 270 km south of the capital of Addis Ababa.

An armed group killed at least 60 people in attacks targeting Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia, overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

The attack took place in the Shirka district in the Arsi area of Ethiopia’s Oromia region. The death toll remains provisional and elderly and children were among the victims.

According to witness accounts, the assailants went from house to house, killing residents with gunfire and knives.

One church was reportedly damaged, while churches in neighbouring villages provided shelter to people fleeing the attack.

The attack took place in an area inhabited by Muslims, Protestants, and Orthodox Christians.

According to information available so far, a rebel coalition identified by Ethiopian authorities as “Tsimido” is believed to be operating in the area.

The coalition reportedly includes the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, the Amhara Fano militias and the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), which Addis Ababa classifies as a terrorist organisation.
