EX-FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY CHARGED WITH FEDERAL CRIMES IN NEW CASE [ARTICLE]

Ex-FBI Director James Comey has been charged with federal crimes for actions he took in distributing national defense information to an individual not entitled to receive it, marking the third case filed by Department of Justice prosecutors against him. The charges were filed in federal district court in the District of Columbia.

The charges relate to information Comey and unnamed co-conspirators violating federal law in October 2016. The first count covers the unauthorized communication of information relating to national security, with the second count stating that “such information could be used to injure the United States and to the advantage of any foreign nation—knowingly and willfully communicated, delivered, transmitted, and caused that information to be communicated, delivered, and transmitted to a person not entitled to receive it.”

Reuters reported on the charges Wednesday and Comey had already commented on the matter. “Comey said in a video on Instagram that ‘they’re back again’ and referenced the Justice Department, but did not provide further details,” with the news outlet adding that attorneys representing Comey have already asked for the case to be dismissed.

The legal troubles for Comey continue. In May, Attorney General Todd Blanche said the “86 47” case goes beyond just an Instagram post. He told NBC Meet the Press host Kristen Welker, “The career assistant United States attorneys in North Carolina, the career FBI agents, the career Secret Service agents that investigated this case, didn’t just look at the Instagram post to walk away. That’s why you saw an indictment… notwithstanding the fact that it was last May that the post was made. So I am not permitted to get into the details of what the grand jury heard or found, as you know. But rest assured that it’s not just the Instagram post that leads somebody to get indicted.

WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS TRUMP AFTER ARCHBISHOP CALLS PRAYER MOMENT ‘MANIPULATED’ AHEAD OF MIDTERMS [ARTICLE]

Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob issued a public apology after alleging the administration distributed video without consent

The White House on Monday defended President Donald Trump after Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob publicly apologized for participating in an Oval Office prayer with the president, accusing the administration of using the religious gathering for political purposes less than two weeks before the midterm elections.

Grob issued a statement Sunday titled “A Public Apology,” alleging that the White House distributed photographs and video of the Thursday prayer without the consent of the 12 participating bishops. He accused the administration of manipulating a sacred moment. The archbishop said he had received messages from Catholics concerned that the prayer appeared to constitute a political endorsement. Grob acknowledged having reservations before attending and apologized for the distress his participation caused. …

White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers defended Trump’s record on religious liberty and Catholic priorities in a statement to Fox News Digital following the archbishop’s public apology.

“There has never been a greater president for Catholic Americans than President Trump, and his strong record proves it: he stopped the weaponization of the federal government against Christians, proudly defended and expanded our religious rights, pardoned pro-life activists, stopped the chemical mutilation of our nation’s children, and protected parents’ rights,” she said.

The meeting, which Grob said was arranged by the Heritage Foundation, was intended to address immigration enforcement, religious worker visas and other Catholic priorities. Following a 90-minute discussion with White House domestic policy staff and advisors, the bishops entered the Oval Office, where Trump presented commemorative tokens before they prayed together. Grob said the group was unaware that video was being recorded.

CARDINAL CUPICH WILL HONOR BILLIONAIRE PLANNED PARENTHOOD DONOR MICHAEL SACKS [ARTICLE]

A prominent Catholic cardinal is under fire again for yet another decision to honor a radical abortion activist.

Cardinal Blase Cupich faced massive criticism last year for his decision to honor pro-abortion Senator Dick Durbin and, this year, he’s facing calls to rescind an honor to a leftist billionaire who donates to the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Cupich and the rector of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake plan to present the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Nostra Aetate Award to billionaire businessman and Democrat donor Michael Sacks at an October 29 fundraiser for the formation of future priests, drawing criticism from pro-life advocates who cite Sacks’ support for America’s biggest abortion business.

Illinois Right to Life has called on Cupich and seminary rector Fr. John Kartje to withdraw the honor, scheduled for the annual Seminary Salutes Rerum Novarum event. The group pointed to foundation records showing $500,000 from the Sacks Family Foundation to Planned Parenthood of Illinois between 2020 and 2022, plus a September 2026 Crain’s Chicago Business report identifying an additional $600,000 contribution by Sacks toward an abortion initiative that benefited organizations including Planned Parenthood of Illinois and the Chicago Abortion Fund.

RURAL PENNSYLVANIA NUNS ARE BUILDING MASSIVE STONE MONASTERY BY HAND: ‘WE HAD A VISION’ [ARTICLE]

A group of cloistered nuns in rural Pennsylvania who trace their history back to 16th-century Spain are building a sprawling monastery meant to last 1,000 years — and they’re doing it almost entirely by hand.

Expected to be completed in 2041 at a cost of $100 million, the 48-acre Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph monastery in Fairfield, Pa., is entirely the vision of one woman — Mother Thérèse of Merciful Love, the 41-year-old daughter of a firefighter from Cape Cod, Mass.

“We had a vision, a dream, an interior kind of intuition that there was something that we needed to do different,” Mother, as she’s known around the compound, told The Post in an exclusive interview from behind an iron screen inside the monastery’s guest house. “We are building an authentic building.”

The nuns are laying the foundation brick-by-brick themselves, in between their daily spiritual duties and tending to the livestock and garden. For the heavier lifting, they’ve brought in outside help — renowned New York architect Riccardo Vicenzino and local contractor Joe Bonifate, who is also in charge of fundraising.

ST. FRUMENTIUS, APOSTLE OF ETHIOPIA FROM BUTLER’S LIVES OF THE SAINTS [VIDEO]

St. Frumentius, known as the Apostle of Ethiopia and first Bishop of Aksum, is commemorated on October 27. This account, taken from The Lives of the Saints by Fr. Alban Butler, tells how divine providence used tragedy and exile to bring the Gospel to Ethiopia. Born in the 4th century, Frumentius and his brother Aedesius were taken captive after a voyage gone wrong. Rising from slaves to royal officials, they used their influence to introduce Christianity to the Ethiopian court. Frumentius would later travel to St. Athanasius of Alexandria, who consecrated him as Ethiopia’s first bishop—laying the foundations for one of the world’s oldest Christian nations.
