Bishops consecrate US to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
“O Desire of Nations and Center of History, we ask you to bless these United States of America.”
The bishops of the United States consecrated the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Thursday, asking for God’s blessings ahead of the country’s 250th anniversary.
The consecration took place during Mass at the bishops’ plenary assembly in Orlando on June 11, on the eve of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart.
Archbishop Paul Coakley of Oklahoma City, president of the U.S. bishops’ conference, was the main celebrant at the Mass, which was held at the Basilica of Mary, Queen of the Universe.
Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore, the first Catholic diocese in the United States, delivered the homily at the Mass.
“As we approach this great anniversary of our nation, we may be tempted towards nostalgia for the past or anxiety about the future,” he said.
“Today we choose something better: trust. Today we place the Church in the United States, and this nation we love, into the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Not because we have everything figured out, but because we know the One whose love endures forever. In his Heart, we find gratitude for the past, strength for the present, and hope for the future.”

Trump issues message joining US bishops in prayer as they consecrate nation to Sacred Heart
The White House issued a presidential message June 11 supporting the U.S. bishops’ consecration of the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
“Today, Melania and I join in prayer with Catholic Bishops gathered in Orlando, Florida, as they consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the occasion of our 250th year of American Independence — a powerful moment in our national story and a poignant reminder that America has always been guided by the loving hand of God,” Trump’s message began.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) are performing the consecration during their Spring Plenary Assembly this week.
June 12 — the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart — marks the anniversary of a historic turning point toward the end of the communist regime, the statement noted. The President’s message also emphasized the importance of recommitment to defending the nation’s spiritual identity and protecting the country against ideologies that currently threaten it.

Presidential Message on U.S. Catholic Bishops Honoring the 250th Anniversary of American Independence
Today, Melania and I join in prayer with Catholic Bishops gathered in Orlando, Florida, as they consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the occasion of our 250th year of American Independence—a powerful moment in our national story and a poignant reminder that America has always been guided by the loving hand of God.
Even in the centuries before the United States was conceived in nationhood, America was a land of prayer, a place of miracles, and home to some of the most faithful and devoted Christians to ever live. From the heroic bands of Christian missionaries, settlers, and explorers who tamed the unknown to spread the Gospel to the priests, chaplains, and churchgoers who forged our spirit in every generation since, the love of Jesus Christ has stood at the center of our identity and way of life.
Inspired by this proud birthright of faith, just years after the end of the Revolutionary War, Bishop John Carroll—the first Catholic bishop in the United States and cousin of Catholic Founding Father Charles Carroll—consecrated our young Republic to Mary, the Mother of God. Today, this grand legacy of faith in America reaches yet another historic milestone as America’s Catholic Bishops consecrate our Nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, during which they will prayerfully “celebrate the abundant gifts” that God has “given this nation, founded on the self-evident truths that our Creator has endowed all people with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” And following today’s consecration, on June 12, Christians in the United States and around the world will celebrate the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, a joyful celebration of God’s boundless love for all His creation.

Minnesota man marks FBI’s first arrest from DOJ’s ‘Most Wanted Fraudsters’ list
Said Abdullahi Ereg allegedly stole from the Federal Child Nutrition Program during the COVID-19 pandemic
FBI Director Kash Patel announced Wednesday that Said Abdullahi Ereg, a former Minneapolis grocery and deli owner, had surrendered to federal authorities, marking the first person on the FBI’s new Most Wanted Fraudsters list to be taken into custody as federal authorities continue a nationwide fraud crackdown.
Said Abdullahi Ereg, 47, faces charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.
The FBI said Ereg, a former south Minneapolis grocery and deli owner, surrendered to federal authorities less than a week after the Justice Department unveiled its “Most Wanted Fraudsters” list, which is intended to publicly identify individuals charged in major fraud cases.

EU Migration Pact to overhaul asylum system comes into effect
The EU Migration Pact comes into force today, two years after it was adopted by member states and the European Parliament.
The pact overhauls existing EU rules to bring about what officials describe as a more efficient, streamlined system that will mean a departure from years of toxic politics around the issue.
However, the pact has been criticised by both the far-right, for not going far enough, and by refugee organisations, who said its legal safeguards for those seeking protection are not sufficient.
The Migration Pact follows years of torturous negotiations over how to manage the asylum system at EU level.

Former Polish PM issues warning about the EU’s Migration pact
The Migration Pact is coming into force right now – this isn’t any kind of European solidarity, it’s a pressure mechanism: take in migrants or pay up! We’re hearing today about a “relief,” but the system stays in place and will come back every year: 1 relocation or 20,000 euros. Border security and decisions about who we let into the country must remain in Polish hands!

Repent or Go to Hell: Pope Leo Warns Europe’s Illegal People Traffickers
Repent from your evil ways or prepare to go to hell. That was the simple message from Pope Leo on Friday for people traffickers and criminal groups who deliver illegal aliens to Europe through Spain’s Canary Islands.
Reuters reports on the final day of a week-long tour of Spain, in which the pontiff has urged global leaders to treat migrants more humanely, Leo said he wanted to directly address those who “take advantage of peoples’ desperation (or) organise death routes.”
“Stop. Repent,” the first U.S. pope declared. “For every life lost, every family deceived … you will have to appear before divine justice.”
“Repent while there is still time,” he said, invoking the Catholic belief that someone who did evil in life must confess their sins and make amends or be sent to eternal hell in death. …
This is not the first time the Pope has addressed mass immigration or the career criminals driving it.
On Monday the leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics called for a global response to the “tragic drama” of migration and said world peace was a “true global imperative.”

Cardinal Robert Sarah condemns Barbara Butch’s concerts in Parisian Churches
A CARDINAL SPEAKS OUT Cardinal Robert Sarah has expressed “his strong disapproval” regarding Barbara Butch’s concerts in Parisian churches, which he describes as a “lamentable spectacle” “A church is not a concert hall or a theater; it is a place of worship, a space reserved for God,” the cardinal stated today “A small group, a certain ideology, is attempting to abolish Christianity. But God built the West. Everything is Christian—its cities, its streets, its literature, EVERYTHING,” the cardinal’s entourage confided this Sunday to @EcclesiaIrae. He praises the “commitment” of Catholics in the face of what he sees as “low blows and gratuitous acts.” He points to “faults” in the management by the current archbishop, Mgr Laurent Ulrich.
