The National Counterterrorism Strategy is a refreshing reset from previous misguided activities undertaken in the name of ‘counterterrorism.
With the fast pace of the news cycle, it is easy to miss all the good things the Trump administration is currently advancing. One key highlight was the National Counterterrorism Strategy issued from the White House this month. The strategy is a refreshing reset from previous decades of misguided and even malicious activities undertaken in the name of “counterterrorism” and points in a promising direction with immediate steps to restore and protect our nation, citizens, and way of life. The official strategy document touts many achievements of the Trump administration already in the first 17 months, but this brief survey will focus on the parts of the strategy that are most uniquely promising to America First patriots who have been hopeful supporters of the president.
The strategy identifies three main categories of terrorist groups that threaten the U.S.: “Narcoterrorists and Transnational Gangs,” “Legacy Islamist terrorists,” and “Violent Left-Wing Extremists, including Anarchists and Anti-Fascists.” The administration’s identification of cartel gang bangers, jihadists, and Antifa thugs as its top targets is a drastic change from just a few years ago when the Biden administration identified supposed white nationalists and right-wing domestic extremists as the “most lethal elements of today’s domestic terrorism threat.”

‘Trump Accounts’ App Launching [May 28, 2026] to Track $1K Given to Newborns in the US
On Thursday, the Treasury Department released a mobile app for Trump Accounts, allowing parents to track investments and access financial literacy modules before contributions officially begin on July 4.
Established under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the initiative grants $1,000 in seed money to children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent noted nearly 6 million children already have accounts set up.
Parents and others can contribute up to $5,000 annually to accounts managed by Bank of New York Mellon Corp. and Robinhood, with funds invested in low-cost stock index funds charging no more than 0.1% in annual fees.
While President Donald Trump promotes accounts as providing “real assets and a shot at financial freedom,” critics argue they may widen the wealth gap by favoring affluent families. Companies including Uber, Intel, IBM, and Nvidia have pledged to match contributions.
Trump accounts will officially open for investment on July 4, coinciding with the United States’ 250th anniversary. Officials estimate accounts could grow to more than $1 million by age 28 with $5,000 in annual contributions.

Federal judge refuses to block Trump order to create federal voter list and limit mail voting
On May 28, District Judge Carl Nichols declined to block President Donald Trump’s Executive Order tightening mail-in voting rules, marking a loss for The Democrats who argued the measure could disenfranchise millions of voters.
The Executive Order, signed March 31, mandates the Postal Service deliver ballots only to voters on approved lists and requires states to preserve election records for five years while directing agencies to build “state citizenship lists.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Plaintiffs argued the Order infringes on states’ rights under the Constitution, claiming Department and Social Security Administration data used for “state citizenship lists” risks excluding lawfully registered voters due to outdated information.
Dismissing the request, Nichols wrote: “Given that the Executive Order does not command Plaintiffs to do anything, and that no agency has yet acted pursuant to the Order in a way that could harm Plaintiffs, they have not suffered any harm at present.”
A separate lawsuit challenging the Order proceeds in Boston, where District Judge Indira Talwani is scheduled to hear arguments on June 2, as Republicans and The Democrats remain locked in a tight battle for control of Congress.

As Trump welcomes more Afrikaner refugees, Catholic bishops call for others to also be included
The Trump administration authorized 10,000 more Afrikaners from South Africa to be admitted as refugees, and Bishop Brendan Cahill said U.S. protection should not be limited to a single group.
U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has raised the cap for Afrikaner refugees but kept capacity restrictions on refugees from other countries, which sparked disapproval from Bishop Brendan J. Cahill of the Diocese of Victoria, Texas.
Cahill, who chairs the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration, welcomed the decision to admit 10,000 more Afrikaners as refugees but said in a statement that resettlement opportunities should be more broadly available.
Afrikaners are a white minority descendent of Dutch settlers. In February, the White House issued a statement that accused the South African government of racial discrimination against Afrikaners through land seizures permitted under the Expropriation Act 13 of 2024. The South African government denies racial discrimination.
On May 28, the administration updated the federal register to change the cap on Afrikaner refugees from 7,500 to 17,500, citing an “unforeseen emergency refugee situation.”

CatholicVote Demands Answers from Washington Nationals, Files DOJ Civil Rights Complaint Over Alleged Religious Discrimination Against Catholic Pitcher Trevor Williams
CatholicVote President and CEO Kelsey Reinhardt sent formal letters today to Washington Nationals Managing Principal Owner Mark D. Lerner and to Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division following reports that a senior Nationals executive admitted the team excludes pitcher Trevor Williams from certain official social media content because of his Catholic faith and public defense of Catholics.
The letters follow a report released by journalist James O’Keefe in which Sean Hudson, the Nationals’ Director of Community Relations, was allegedly caught on camera discussing Williams’ Catholic faith and his public criticism of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group widely criticized by Catholics for performances mocking Jesus Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Eucharist, priests, and religious sisters.
According to the report, Hudson described Williams as “very Catholic,” referenced Williams’ public objection to the Dodgers’ decision, and then said: “Because of that, we don’t use him on social.”
“If accurate, this is not a misunderstanding or an ordinary communications decision,” Reinhardt said. “It is a direct admission that a Catholic player may have been excluded from official team promotion because he publicly defended his faith. Catholics are not asking for special treatment. We are demanding equal treatment under the law.”

These remarkable finds also encompass ancient Christian tombs and inscriptions. Over the past two years, archaeologists in Anatolia – modern-day Turkey – have uncovered at least a dozen previously unknown churches, dating from the fourth and fifth centuries AD. Furthermore, excavations in the historic city of Pergamon have revealed one of the earliest depictions of Saint George, England’s future patron saint.

Italian Bishop Tells Catholics To Evangelise Muslims
A Catholic bishop in northern Italy has called on Christians to actively evangelise Muslims living in Europe, warning that believers must not “hide” their faith in the face of rising migration and secularisation.
In a pastoral letter issued on the feast of Pentecost, Bishop Antonio Suetta of Ventimiglia-San Remo argued that welcoming Muslim migrants should go hand-in-hand with openly proclaiming Christianity, insisting that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.
The letter, titled There Is No Greater Love Than This, was issued ahead of a new diocesan initiative aimed specifically at outreach to Muslims living in the region near the French border, an area heavily affected by immigration in recent years.
Drawing inspiration from St. Francis of Assisi’s famous meeting with the Sultan during the Crusades, Suetta said Christians should approach Muslims with “charity” and “respect,” but without abandoning missionary zeal or diluting Catholic teaching.
