Leon XIV resumes work from the hospital after surgery

For the second day the American Pope celebrated Mass with other priests in a special chapel installed near his room on the tenth floor of the hospital, announced spokesman Matteo Bruni.

Pope Leo XIV met this Thursday with a senior collaborator and resumed work from the hospital, while his doctors reported that his lung had recovered well from surgery to remove a cancerous nodule.

León’s postoperative tests remained within normal levels and his physiotherapy session this Thursday included full mobility exercises, and the pontiff carried out his daily activities independently, according to the update of his personal physician, Dr. Luigi Carbone, and the head of thoracic surgery at the Gemelli hospital, Dr. Stefano Margaritora.

“The chest X-ray revealed a good recovery of the operated lung,” they reported. “In general, his postoperative recovery progresses as planned.”

DOJ Sues California Over 20,000 Suspected Noncitizen Voters

The Justice Department is taking California to court in a major election integrity showdown, alleging that approximately 20,000 people suspected of being noncitizens were left on voter rolls and mailed ballots. John Solomon breaks down the allegations, the DOJ’s effort to prevent potentially ineligible ballots from being counted, and what the lawsuit could mean for election security and voter ID efforts nationwide.

Plus, Solomon examines reports of a North Korean espionage operation targeting American companies, record early voting in Georgia, and rising construction costs at the Obama Presidential Center.

Joining the show are Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart, who discusses Latino support for President Trump, the future of Cuba, and developments in Venezuela; former Trump deputy national security advisor Victoria Coates, who addresses the controversy surrounding Starlink and Ukraine; and Oklahoma education leader Ryan Walters, who discusses teachers unions, parental rights, and the future of public education.

Talarico Shows He’s As Ignorant About The Bible And Abortion As He Is About Texas by Jordan Boyd

As Talarico demonstrated, long before he hit the Texas Senate campaign trail, caring about unborn babies and the Bible never really was his priority.

James Talarico knows his Texas as well as he knows his Bible, which is apparently not at all.

Less than one week after Talarico reappeared following a mysterious absence from the campaign trail and media due to what he claimed was a “nasty flu,” he appeared on a CNN and Jubilee town hall to Lone Star State voters about his faith and politics.

This “Change My Mind” was supposed to be an opportunity for Talarico to soothe his skeptics’ fears about his radicalism, including describing God as “nonbinary” and expressing love of “trans children.” Instead, it further proved that the “Christian who hates Christianity” has no business holding authority in church or state, specifically the U.S. Senate.

Statement From Catholics For Catholics President On Fr. James Martin Carrying The Monstrance At Napa’s NYC Eucharistic Procession

The Napa Institute and Tim Busch have done incredible things for the Church in the United States. One of the best things that they do is their annual Eucharistic procession in New York City.

The images that we have seen over the years of thousands of people processing in the heart of New York City with the Holy Eucharist flanked by countless religious and priests is a beautiful example of what this apostolate has been able to do.

Tim Busch, Chairman of the Board and Founder of the Napa Institute, has helped many other good Catholic works, and that should be noted.

That being said, I was in the middle of a retreat for priests at the apparition site of Our Lady of Champion when someone sent me the images of Fr. James Martin holding the Eucharist in downtown New York City as part of Napa’s annual Eucharist procession. …

Bishop Varden: There is a Catholic springtime in Norway

Bishop Erik Varden reflects on his conversion, Norway’s spiritual awakening, and how cultivating a hidden life prepares us for public action.

Bishop Erik Varden, a Cistercian monk and the bishop of Trondheim, Norway, recently published two books that illustrate the fruitfulness of a hidden life. Already becoming well known across the Church, he was asked by Pope Leo to preach this year’s Lenten retreat to the Curia. He spoke with Aleteia about his conversion to Catholicism, Norway’s spiritual awakening, and the power of the interior life.

In an age when everything seems to be on display, Bishop Varden celebrates what remains hidden. His books are an ode to monastic life, an ancient tradition that has contributed to Europe’s cultural influence. They also celebrate the interior life, an essential foundation for developing one’s thinking and listening to God’s voice.

His latest work, Introduction à la vie cachée (Introduction to the Hidden Life; Fayard), is a conversation with Nicolas Diat based on Pope Benedict XVI’s 2008 address at the Collège des Bernardins regarding the monastic foundations of European civilization. His second recent book, Illuminés d’une gloire cachée (Illuminated by a Hidden Glory; Artège), gathers the spiritual meditations he preached to Pope Leo XIV and the Roman Curia during this year’s Lenten retreat.

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque: Disciple of the Sacred Heart by Edyta McNichol

I need nothing but God, and to lose myself in the Heart of Jesus.” These were among the last words of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647–1690), a French nun whose holy life and special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus we celebrate today on her feast.

Margaret was born into a large Catholic family, the fifth of seven children. As described in her biography, she exhibited a devotion to Christ from an early age, especially to the Blessed Sacrament. “O my only Love,” she prayed, “how indebted I am to Thee for having prevented me from my tenderest youth, for having made Thyself Master of my heart!” When she was bedridden by a mysterious illness at the age of fifteen, Margaret prayed to the Blessed Mother, promising in front of her whole family that if she was healed she would take religious vows. She was instantly cured.

Indeed, Margaret entered the Order of the Visitation at Paray-le-Monial at age twenty-three. It was here that the Lord Jesus appeared to her on three separate occasions to impart to her the mission of spreading devotion to his Sacred Heart. Although initially filled with fears of her own unworthiness for such a task, Margaret received consolation in his words: “Fear nothing; I shall be thy strength.”
