Trump urges GOP senators to use ‘nuclear option’ to ‘make America great again’

President Donald Trump has grown weary of Democrats’ efforts to prolong the government shutdown. He has called on Republican senators to use the “nuclear option” to end it.

In two posts to his Truth Social account late Thursday night, the president urged Republicans to end the filibuster in order to end the shutdown. In his message, Trump scolded the Democrats, labeling them “crazy,” insinuating that this is why drastic legislative measures must be taken, citing previous efforts by Democrats to try to implement the procedure.

“….BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE GONE STONE COLD “CRAZY,” THE CHOICE IS CLEAR — INITIATE THE “NUCLEAR OPTION,” GET RID OF THE FILIBUSTER AND, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said in his first post.

Schumer Shutdown to Cost $14+ Billion, Reduce GDP Two Percent

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a report on Wednesday revealing the negative impact that the federal government shutdown could have on the U.S. economy. If Democrats extend the shutdown up to eight weeks, GDP growth for the fourth quarter of 2025 could be up to two percent lower.

CBO delivered the report to Congress in response to a request from House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington. In the report, CBO Director Phillip Swagel said that the length of the shutdown will determine the damage dealt to the nation’s economy.

“The agency estimates that the annualized quarterly growth rate of real GDP in the fourth quarter of 2025 would be lower by 1.0 percentage point in the four-week shutdown scenario, 1.5 percentage points in the six-week scenario, and 2.0 percentage points in the eight-week scenario,” Swagel explained.

Dems Take Away Free Food From the Snapanese at Great Political Risk: Hell hath no fury like the entitled denied what isn’t theirs – Essay by Daniel J. Flynn

The Snapanese, a normally reliable Democratic constituency that depends on what the vernacular refers to as food stamps, may ‘Pearl Harbor’ progressives after their month-long recalcitrance on re-opening the government.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides an average of more than $350 per recipient household a month. The welfare program pays for milk, eggs, apples, and other groceries at the supermarket, which frees up funds, for those so inclined, for scratch tickets, neck tattoos, and meth pipes. …

In the United States, the Snapanese outnumber Asians, LGBTQers, and Californians to make for a powerful interest group. If SNAP were a country, its population would exceed Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Ukraine. Forty-two million Americans, 12 percent of the U.S. population, receive SNAP benefits.

Catholic Charities USA launches fundraising effort amid government shutdown, loss of SNAP

Catholic Charities USA has launched an emergency fundraising effort to support those about to lose access to federal food assistance in the coming days.

Due to the ongoing government shutdown, funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will lapse on Nov. 1, meaning millions of Americans will no longer have access to food assistance.

“For low-income families and individuals who rely on SNAP and WIC to put food on their tables, this could be a catastrophic moment,” Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) President and CEO Kerry Alys Robinson said in an Oct. 30 press release announcing the emergency effort. “The Catholic Charities network stands ready to come to the aid of our vulnerable brothers and sisters during this time of dire need.”

Farage More Trusted to Lead Country as Prime Minister Than Starmer for First Time Says Poll

The British public now prefers Brexit boss Nigel Farage over Sir Keir Starmer for prime minister for the first time, a survey has found.

Little over a year after sweeping to power with a strong majority, the polling picture for the leftist Labour Party continues to darken as it bleeds support in disparate directions and amid the rise of outsider parties, such as Nigel Farage’s populist-right Reform UK and the Islamo-leftist Greens.

A survey this week from polling firm Ipsos has found that Farage now stands above Starmer in prime minister preference among voters, a marked shift in recent months, with the PM previously besting the Reform leader by eight points in July in a previous poll.

A ‘silent majority’ of U.S. Catholics support Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts

Catholics who do not gather for anti-enforcement rallies organized by high-ranking Catholic prelates are a “silent majority,” according to conservative Catholic immigration experts.

As the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts continue to intensify, Catholics across the country have committed to observe days of prayer and public witness for migrants through efforts such as the One Church One Family initiative spearheaded by the western Jesuits. However, according to some conservative Catholic immigration experts, the number of Catholics who are opting out of such vigils are “a silent majority.”
