Rick Scott Leads Senate to Unanimously Establish October 14 as National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk
The U.S. Senate on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution led by Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) designating October 14, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk, honoring the late Turning Point USA founder’s legacy of faith, free speech, and civic engagement. …
In remarks on the Senate floor, Scott described Kirk as “a good man, a devout husband, father and friend,” recalling their weekly conversations and the outreach Kirk carried out on college campuses across the country. “Charlie dedicated his life to the idea that the power of our ideas can not only win the day, but start a movement,” Scott said, adding that Kirk’s devotion to faith, family, and civil debate would endure through the resolution. “[On] October 14 [Kirk’s birthday] we will gather together as a nation and pay tribute to his great life.”

Queer Terror: The violence towards conservatives may be part of a broader terror network.
The FBI is investigating leads indicating that the assassin of conservative leader Charlie Kirk at a Utah college campus last week forms part of a far-left terrorist network that could have connections with Cuba and China.
His violent radicalization in Marxist transgender ideology fits a pattern of recent attacks across the country linked to an outcrop of groups such as Armed Queers (AQ), which recruit online, engage in paramilitary training at gun ranges of a new organization with chapters in all 50 states called Socialist Rifle Association, and seem closely tied with ANTIFA.
Current investigations are focusing on the AQ Salt Lake City chapter, which held a 2024 protest event in the city’s suburb where Kirk’s assassin, Tyler Robinson, was shacked up with a lover transitioning from male to female. The AQ-SLC logo was inscribed on shell casings found at Robinson’s sniper position. The group has scrubbed all its social media postings since his arrest.

Charlie Kirk’s Friend UNLEASHES On Squishy Pastors Amid This Spiritual War
Pastors and other Christian leaders who opposed Charlie Kirk for standing up for biblical truth in culture and the public square must recognize their error and change, argued Charlie’s friend and top pro-life leader Seth Gruber with the White Rose Resistance. If they won’t, they should cease to be pastors and find another job, Gruber told Alex Newman on The Sentinel Report.
While the nation grieves the loss of Charlie Kirk, a man now being widely hailed as a Christian martyr, it’s important to remember he cannot be replaced. At the same time, Americans must recognize there is no choice but to try and be more like him—and especially his Lord and Savior—by boldly speaking the truth and taking action.
One of the key points that came out of this interview is that this is, in the most literal sense possible, a spiritual war with physical manifestations.

Two Patriot Saints: Charlie Kirk and Joan of Arc – Essay by John Zmirak
In the past week, we’ve seen an explosion of patriotism and faith in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder. Now millions of Americans are rewatching old clips of Charlie speaking sweet reason and sharing the Gospel with misguided, clueless college students — and through our tears, we’re streaming Erika Kirk’s defiant remarks after just 48 hours as a widow.
This upsurge of grace is a comfort, a ray of Easter sunlight peeking through Good Friday’s gloom and murk. As Eric Metaxas once said, Christian witness Dietrich Bonhoeffer knew that:
No Christian really dies. Death has been defeated. In a very real sense, we’re bulletproof, since the part of us that matters is beyond the enemy’s grasp. It’s with Jesus, on whichever side of the grave we happen to be. …

Dearborn Mayor Tells Pastor He’s ‘Not Welcome’ After Street Sign Dispute
Abdullah Hammoud, the Muslim mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, last week told a Christian man he was “not welcome” in the city after the resident voiced objection to a street sign honoring Arab American news publisher Osama Siblani.
Edward Barham, a Christian pastor, during a Sept. 9 City Council meeting, criticized the placement of signs at two intersections on Warren Avenue.
He called it “inappropriate” and said it was equivalent to having a street named “Hezbollah Street or Hamas Street.”
Hammoud interrupted Barham, called him a racist, bigot, and Islamophobe, and said he should simply avoid the renamed streets or “close your eyes while you’re doing it.”
“Although you live here, I want you to know as mayor, you are not welcome here. And the day you move out of the city will be the day that I launch a parade celebrating the fact that you moved out of this city,” Hammoud told Barham.

Byron Donalds fires back at Rashida Tlaib after ‘fascist’ jab: ‘Do I look like a member of the Third Reich?’
A shouting match broke out during a House Oversight Committee hearing Thursday after far-left “Squad” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) described President Trump’s Washington, DC crime crackdown as a “fascist takeover” – rhetoric that Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) said was “way out of line.” …
Donalds told reporters he felt Tlaib was trying to label him and fellow Republicans “fascist,” which he said was “a sore subject” in the aftermath of last week’s assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“She used the exact same irresponsible rhetoric that inspired Tyler Robinson and was completely out-of-line,” Donalds wrote on X, referring to Kirk’s suspected killer.

Trump says ‘scum’ Omar should be impeached, claims she married her brother
President Donald Trump called for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to be impeached from Congress after an unsuccessful censure resolution failed to punish her for comments she made about Charlie Kirk.
Trump also disparaged the congresswoman in later comments, suggesting she was “scum,” and claimed she married her brother to gain citizenship.
“I think she should be impeached. I think she’s terrible,” Trump said Thursday aboard Air Force One. He acknowledged he was impeached twice, and later added, “She should be impeached, and it should happen fast.”
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) tried a censure resolution against Omar, but it failed after multiple Republicans voted against it in exchange for a different censure resolution to be dropped against Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL).

Niger: Scores die in terrorist attack on baptism ceremony
Gunmen on motorbikes reportedly shot dead 22 villagers in western Niger, most attending a baptism ceremony.
Local media and other sources said the attack happened Monday in the Tillaberi region, near Burkina Faso and Mali, where jihadist groups linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group (IS) are active.
A resident of the area told AFP [Agence France-Presse] 15 people were killed first at a baptism ceremony in Takoubatt village. “The attackers then went to the outskirts of Takoubatt where they killed seven other people,” said the resident, who requested anonymity for security reasons.
In a post on social media, a Nigerien human rights activist said, “Once again, the Tillaberi region… has been struck by barbarism, plunging innocent families into mourning and despair.”

Elderly Austrian nuns break out of nursing home and back into their former convent, defying diocese
Three octogenarian nuns have defied their diocese, run away from their nursing home and returned to their former convent in Salzburg, Austria, which they are now occupying.
On Sept. 4, Sister Regina, 86, Sister Rita, 81, and Sister Bernadette, 88, returned to Schloss Goldenstein, the Alpine convent and girls’ school where they had spent most of their lives — much to the displeasure of the local church. …
The sisters’ former students have been helping and organizing a daily routine for them, while a family doctor is available to offer medical care, ORF added. …
“Before I die in that old people’s home, I would rather go to a meadow and enter eternity that way,” Sister Bernadette told the BBC.

‘Why cry about a crisis?’ — How Pope Leo’s changing the message on Vatican finances
Pope Leo XIV has played down the Holy See’s financial problems in his first papal interview, suggesting that “things are going to be ok.”
But while the pope has insisted he is not “losing sleep” over the curial budget deficit and pension blackhole, he has also undertaken a crowded series of meetings which indicate a more serious engagement with the issues than his publicly relaxed stance would suggest. …

A Book Review of Christopher Manion’s ‘Charity for Sale’: A Wake-Up Call for the American Catholic Church
In “Charity for Sale,” Manion makes the case that too many leaders of the American Catholic church have all but abandoned teaching and advancing homiletics on Christian principles that were central to the faith in the early and mid-20th century. …
To begin explaining this metamorphosis, Manion points to the impact of Father John Ryan, a charming liberal who offered support to Democrat presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt and their progressive agendas as they expanded the federal welfare state. Father Ryan began encouraging the church away from traditional American individualism and toward what was known as “Fabian Socialism,” a gradual, incrementalist alternative to violent, revolutionary Marxism.
In 1931, Pope Pius XI warned us about the temptation of centralized power to absorb the functions of families, associations, and businesses. The Pontiff’s encyclical, “Quadragesimo Annoa,” opposed such usurpation of human freedom and responsibility by the government.
Today, two-thirds of the annual spending by Catholic Charities USA comes from the government.

Catholic Cardinal Will Give Pro-Abortion Senator Dick Durbin a Lifetime Achievement Award
Cardinal Blase Cupich, head of the Archdiocese of Chicago, plans to honor radically pro-abortion Senator Dick Durbin with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the “Keep Hope Alive” Benefit on November 3.
The award is prompting fierce backlash from pro-life advocates who decry the decision as a betrayal of pro-life Catholic teachings and a grave scandal that violates the sanctity of life.
Illinois Right to Life, a leading statewide pro-life organization, condemned the award, to be presented by the Archdiocese’s Office of Human Dignity and Solidarity, as a stark contradiction to the Church’s unwavering stance on the dignity of the unborn.

Pope Leo: God gave families the perfect model, the Holy Family
God has offered the Holy Family as a perfect model to help families in their difficulties, Pope Leo XIV suggested in his remarks on Friday in the Vatican to participants in the Jubilee Meeting organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM) on the future of the family.
Recalling that the meeting has been discussing the future of the family in the context of the Jubilee of Hope, the Pope focused his discourse on the three words: jubilee, hope, and family.

After well over a century under construction, Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia basilica is ready to raise its immense central tower and become the tallest Christian church in Europe.
The basilica’s General Director Xavier Martínez said Thursday that “the tower will be finished at the end of this year or the beginning of 2026.”
“This is an important moment in the history of the building of the Sagrada Familia because it will reach its maximum height,” Martínez told The Associated Press. “We are used to seeing skyscrapers like those in the United States (go up), but it is remarkable that in the 21st century we are building a cathedral.”
Once the gigantic Tower of Jesus Christ is up, the masterpiece of architect Antoni Gaudí will rise to 172 meters (564 feet). …
