Fed Subpoenaed As DOJ Launches Criminal Probe Into Jerome Powell, Who Vows To “Stand Firm”
Not content with launching a dizzying cascade of international conflicts, Trump just lobbed a nuke at the Fed.
While Trump’s vendetta against the Fed’s Lisa Cook set for a January showdown before the Supreme Court, the Trump admin dramatically raised the stakes on Sunday when the NYT first reported, and minutes later Fed Chair Jerome Powell confirmed that the US central bank had been served grand jury subpoenas from the Justice Department threatening a criminal indictment, in what Bloomberg said was a dramatic escalation of the Trump administration’s attacks on the Fed.
As the NYT first reported, the US attorney’s office in the District of Columbia has opened a criminal investigation into Powell over the central bank’s renovation of its Washington headquarters and whether the Fed Chair lied to Congress about the scope of the project. The inquiry, which includes an analysis of Powell’s public statements and an examination of spending records, was approved in November by Jeanine Pirro, a longtime ally of President Trump who was appointed to run the office last year, the NYT sources said. …

Bessent says Treasury can cover tariff refunds if Supreme Court rules against Trump
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that the United States has the capital should the Supreme Court rule in favor of the retail companies seeking refunds for President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
Bessent made the assertion in an interview with Reuters. The Trump administration is facing lawsuits from Costco, Kawasaki Motors, Revlon, and Bumble Bee Foods, among others, over the tariffs. These companies are seeking a full refund of the tariffs they have paid to the Trump administration for foreign products, with interest.
According to Bessent, the $774 billion the Treasury has on hand will be more than sufficient to pay the refunds should the Supreme Court rule against Trump’s emergency powers.
“We’re not talking about the money all goes out in a day. Probably over weeks, months, may take over a year, right?” Bessent said.
However, the secretary was doubtful that the court would rule against Trump. Bessent suggested there was “very, very little, if any, pass-through” of tariffs on to customers and questioned whether Costco would pass the refunds on to its customers.

A leftist protesting outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Minneapolis on Friday admitted on camera she was there because it is literally her job.
Video footage from conservative journalist Nick Sorter showed Fox News host Laura Ingram talking to so-called “protesters” outside the facility. Ingram asked a woman wearing a red jacket and face covering if she had a job.
The woman, who kept shouting, “Shame! Shame!” finally answered Ingram’s question by stating, “I’m getting paid right now!” and Ingram reacted with a thumbs up:

Democrats Want Anti-ICE Protesters To Die So They Can Protect Their Fraudulent Patronage With Riots
Leftist agitators and the corporate media wasted no time capitalizing on the death of a woman who was fatally shot by an ICE officer after she appeared to ram an agent who was positioned in front of her vehicle.
While those with common sense rightly point out that the shooting was justified by the circumstances and backed up by legal precedent, the left quickly capitalized on the woman’s death by further demonizing federal law enforcement and repeating their tired accusation that the Trump administration is little more than a fascist tyranny.
The shooting on Wednesday and the Somali fraud scandal that at least partially caused the ICE crackdown in Minneapolis call attention to the fact that the left will fanatically defend those whose crimes they themselves have facilitated.
Rather than try to deescalate the situation or provide support for federal law enforcement, Minnesota Democrats moved swiftly to hamstring ICE operations further. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said, “The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city. We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately.”

The ICE agent clearly acted in self-defense after the immigration activist Renee Nicole Good attempted to run him over after he repeatedly urged her to get out of the car.
