JD Vance: ‘Engineered Chaos’ in Minneapolis Is Consequence of Leftists Working with Local Officials

Vice President JD Vance on Saturday made a pointed statement about the “engineered chaos” in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as leftists riot and protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

“This level of engineered chaos is unique to Minneapolis. It is the direct consequence of far left agitators, working with local authorities,” Vance wrote in a social media post:

His comments came after a Border Patrol agent-involved shooting occurred in the city Saturday, which set off more chaos and saw crowds fill the streets, Breitbart News reported.

“What began as a rapid gathering of onlookers quickly devolved into a volatile confrontation, with agitators blocking roads, surrounding vehicles, and forcing federal officers into defensive positions amid a fast‑escalating wave of unrest,” the outlet said.

Cam Higby’s ‘SignalGate’ Potentially Ties Unrest to Minn. Dems

At least two Democrat Minnesota state officials and a former campaign adviser to Gov. Tim Walz, Amanda Koehler, have allegedly been identified as “admins” and “dispatchers” in a leaked Signal group chat used to track and impede federal immigration operations in the state, the Gateway Pundit reported Sunday.

This activity was highlighted during an investigation by conservative independent journalist Cam Higby, who wrote on X, “I have infiltrated organizational signal groups all around Minneapolis with the sole intention of tracking down federal agents and impeding/assaulting/and obstructing them. Each area of the city has a signal or several signals.”

Higby also shared videos showing individuals he said were members of the groups.

Diocese of Charlotte [NC] reacts to first Sunday after altar rail ban

In the Diocese of Charlotte, Bishop Michael Martin’s pastoral letter of December 17, 2025 ordered that altar rails, kneelers and prie-dieux [prayer desk] be removed from public Masses by Friday, January 16.

As the first Sunday Masses without altar rails unfolded this weekend, reports from across the diocese indicated anything but uniform compliance. While some parishes removed temporary kneelers and adjusted Communion lines, others made no immediate changes, awaiting Vatican clarification on a dubia submitted by more than 30 priests. The result has been a patchwork of responses indicating deep frustration with the bishop’s vision of liturgical conformity.

As parishioners awaited this day, The Catholic Herald spoke with laity from multiple parishes and a diocesan staffer prior to Saturday the 17th. Many voiced deep frustration and concern, viewing the removal of altar rails as a liturgical time bomb they foresaw would not go well for the first Sunday Mass. …

Why Trump’s Strikes in Nigeria Are So Important – Commentary

In the midst of the back and forth of Nicolás Maduro’s capture, the seizure of “Ghost Fleet” oil tankers, and the banter over a possible annexation of Greenland, it’s easy to miss the significance of the Christmas U.S. missile strikes in Nigeria, which hit ISIS and other jihadist groups. This would be a real tragedy, as this was a real step forward.

On Christmas Day, the U.S. conducted precision airstrikes in Nigeria’s Sokoto State, targeting ISIS affiliates with Tomahawk missiles and killing multiple terrorists in coordination with Nigerian forces. These strikes, launched from a ship off the coast, followed President Donald Trump’s threats against militants attacking Christians and aimed to disrupt violent extremist groups.

While some Western analysts worried about sovereignty and unintended consequences, Nigerian officials hailed the joint operation as a success against terrorism.
