Southern Baptist President Fires Back at Calls for Pastors to Stay Out of Politics — Urges Conservative Pastors to “Step Up” Before the Midterms Because Abortion, Marriage, Gender, and Immigration Are Theological Issues
For years, we’ve watched the radical, anti-God left wage an unrelenting war to destroy our great country while weak-kneed establishment figures and silent church leaders sat on the sidelines. The Marxists have infiltrated our schools, our government, and yes, even our churches.
Southern Baptist Convention President Willy Rice is absolutely dropping MOABs on the secular left and their enablers. In a powerful new declaration, Rice is firing back against the absurd, un-American demands that pastors must “stay out of politics.”
Instead of caving to the woke mob, Rice is urgently calling on Christian leaders across the nation to STEP UP, find their courage, and get aggressively involved ahead of the most important midterm elections of our lifetimes.

Bolsonaro Overperforms to Reach Round 2 of Brazil Presidential Election Against Incumbent Socialist Lula
Conservative Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro won Sunday night’s presidential election in Brazil, defeating incumbent socialist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva – but did not pass the 50 percent threshold necessary to win the presidency outright, triggering a runoff election.
Brazilians took to the polls on Sunday for general elections for the presidency, local state leadership positions, and seats in the Brazilian Congress. Bolsonaro and Lula were among 13 candidates competing for the chief executive position, though polling prior to the election did not indicate that any of the other candidates were attracting any meaningful levels of support to vie for first place.
At press time, Brazil’s electoral officials have counted 99.57 percent of the vote. Bolsonaro is in the lead with 47.12 percent support, or nearly 56 million votes, while President Lula obtained 45.05 percent of the vote, or about 53.5 million votes. The third-place candidate, self-help author Augusto Cury, obtained only 2.89 percent of the vote, or about 3.4 million votes.

US Rushes to Remove Bombers From UK’s RAF Fairford Amid New Threats
The United States rapidly withdrew all 12 B-1 bombers from a key air base in England over the weekend after commanders received new warnings about a possible Iran-backed plot targeting the installation, according to U.S. officials.
The unusual withdrawal from RAF Fairford was considered so urgent that some bombers and their crews took off for the United States while aerial refueling aircraft were still being scrambled to support their return flights, the New York Times reported.
At least three of the bombers had reached their home base in South Dakota by Sunday, officials said.

Up to 500 French Schools to be Totally or Partly Closed Monday: [Education] Minister
Up to 500 schools across France will be totally or partly closed on Monday due to the protests by teenage pupils that have shaken the country, the education minister said.
Lessons will be “totally or partly suspended” in some “400-500” high schools as the security conditions “have not been fulfilled”, said Education Minister Edouard Geffray on Sunday, adding that 24 schools had been “burned or ransacked” since the start of the movement.
The teens at French high schools, known as lycées, say that their studies are being ruined by high teacher absences, overlong school days and dilapidated facilities as well as other grievances.

Stanford students turn to Catholicism in big numbers in astonishing Gen Z campus revival
“The intellectual tradition of Catholicism shocked me beyond belief.”
A Catholic revival is taking hold at exclusive Stanford University as a growing share of Gen Z students embrace the the 2,000-year-old faith.
The campus best known for churning out high-achieving tech execs has seen a three-fold increase in Catholic converts — with 46 adults entering the church at Easter this year, up from 14 the year before, according to Fr. Bart Hutcherson, pastor of the Catholic Community at Stanford.
It’s an astonishing turnaround at a campus that averaged just four adult baptisms annually for about 30 years, the Dominican priest said.
Hutcherson said he’s sought to make Stanford’s ministries more welcoming to students after he was appointed pastor roughly three years ago. The Catholic-curious coeds are drawn to traditional forms of worship, he said — complete with age-old hymns played on a pipe organ, Latin prayers and the ornate Byzantine details at Stanford Memorial Church.
Six hundred Stanford students packed into a recent Saturday afternoon Mass of the Holy Spirit — hundreds more than Hutcherson would have expected just a couple of years ago.
Contrary to the “pay, pray and obey” tropes about Catholicism, the priest said brainy and motivated Stanford students are often first attracted to Catholicism on an intellectual basis, educating themselves on church’s history and centuries-old philosophical traditions before taking the plunge.

Latin Patriarchate Mourns Two Christian Women Killed in Gaza City Strike
The two women had reportedly stayed at Holy Family Catholic Church before moving into the apartment where the strike was carried out.
Two Christian women were killed early on Oct. 3 in an Israeli strike on a residential apartment in western Gaza City, according to Palestinian and Church sources. The women had recently moved into the apartment after spending a prolonged period sheltering at Holy Family Catholic Church during the ongoing war.
The victims were identified as Maysaa Khader Ibrahim Abu Dawoud and Mary Hafez Michel al-Najjar. They had been living in an apartment in the Institutions area of western Gaza City.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the strike.
In a statement to ACI MENA, the Arabic-language sister service of EWTN News, George Anton, the director of operations for the Latin Patriarchate in Gaza, said the two women had stayed at Holy Family Catholic Church throughout the war before recently moving into a rented apartment in an effort to resume a more stable life after months of displacement and sheltering at the church.
Anton said the apartment was struck early on Oct. 3, killing both women. He said their deaths had “left deep sorrow among Christian families in the Gaza Strip.”

Helping Every Family Become a ‘Domestic Church’ by Bishop Earl Boyea
Many young parents desire to build holy homes, but lack faith-filled experiences from their own upbringing. Here’s what the Diocese of Lansing is doing to help.
Growing up in Waterford, Michigan, north of Detroit, I was the eldest of ten children. Dad worked in an auto factory. Mom ran the home. Despite what were limited financial means, we found our basic needs met. And our parents always prioritized prayer and Sunday Mass.
Looking back, Mom and Dad were always striving to foster a faithful “domestic church.” Although they would have been unacquainted with the term, it’s an expression that’s as venerable as Christianity itself.
“Henceforth, make your home a church in order to put the devil to flight,” advises the Church Father Saint John Chrysostom in his Homilies on Genesis, written in the late fourth century. Inspired by this ancient injunction, last month witnessed the Diocese of Lansing launch a Year of the Family.
Why? Because the family is the foundation of society. It is the first, best, and cheapest department of health, welfare, and education. It is also where vocations to marriage, the priesthood, and consecrated life most often take root. Hence, we posed the question: How can we best help our families grow in holiness and, thus, happiness?
