Trump warns Colombian President Gustavo Petro is ‘going to be next’ in drug trafficking crackdown

President Donald Trump told reporters Wednesday that Colombian President Gustavo Petro is next on his list in his drug-trafficking crackdown if the Latin American leader does not straighten his country out.

The Trump administration has accused Petro of being an “illegal drug trader,” and tension between the United States and Colombia heated up over Petro’s appearance at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Manhattan earlier this year, where he urged U.S. soldiers to not follow Trump’s orders.

Trump has primarily focused his attention on combating the illicit drug trade flowing from Venezuela, by directing strikes to interdict suspected drug-running operations. But Trump has floated expanding his strikes to Mexico and Colombia.

Massie introduces bill to end US membership in NATO

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has long been a critic of continued U.S. membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He’s categorized it as an archaic institution that serves no current purpose and a waste of taxpayer money. On Wednesday, Massie introduced a bill to end the country’s membership in NATO.

“NATO is a Cold War relic. We should withdraw from NATO and use that money to defend our own country, not socialist countries,” Massie said in a press release and in social media posts. “NATO was created to counter the Soviet Union, which collapsed over thirty years ago. Since then, U.S. participation has cost taxpayers trillions of dollars and continues to risk U.S. involvement in foreign wars.”

Secretary Rollins Signs Six New State Waivers to Make America Healthy Again by Removing Unhealthy Foods from SNAP in Hawai‘i, Missouri, North Dakota, South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins, joined by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., today announced the approval of six new state SNAP food-choice waivers under the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative. The waivers, submitted by Hawai‘i, Missouri, North Dakota, South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee, will amend the statutory definition of “food for purchase” under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beginning in 2026.

“President Trump has made it clear: we are restoring SNAP to its true purpose – nutrition. Under the MAHA initiative, we are taking bold, historic steps to reverse the chronic diseases epidemic that has taken root in this country for far too long,” said Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. “America’s governors are answering that call with courage and innovation, offering solutions that honor the generosity of the taxpayer while helping families live longer, healthier lives. With these new waivers, we are empowering states to lead, protecting our children from the dangers of highly-processed foods, and moving one step closer to the President’s promise to Make America Healthy Again.”

How Republicans Tricked Jasmine Crockett Into Running For Senate

Republicans’ plan to push their preferred candidate, Democrat Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, into running for senate has apparently worked.

The National Republican Senate Committee (NRSC) began including Crockett’s name in polling in July, the Daily Caller News Foundation first reported, and it showed her leading in a hypothetical Democratic primary race. Since then, the NRSC has been working behind the scenes to get Crockett to jump into the Senate Democratic primary, according to a Tuesday NOTUS report.

SAFEGUARDING THE VOTE: Trump Administration Further Modernizes Citizenship Verification

An immigration think tank is calling for Congress to consider mandating the use of a citizenship verification for voter registration after the Department of Homeland Security announced plans to make the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements more user-friendly for state and local election offices.

Last week, the DHS settled a case with four states—Florida, Indiana, Iowa, and Ohio—to overhaul the citizenship verification system.

The report, which the Center for Immigration Studies published Monday, characterizes the 1993 National Voter Registration Act as “fatally flawed,” claiming that it “not only facilitates vote fraud but also results in legal aliens mistakenly voting and putting themselves at risk.”

DeSantis Drops the Hammer on Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR: ‘EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Unlike in school, most voters probably don’t mind when governors copy each others’ homework — especially when it comes to important issues like national security.

Well, it appears Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis copied the homework of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

And that doesn’t bode well for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy group that had worked with the Biden administration, along with the Society of Muslim Brothers. …

This move comes just months after Abbott made a similar ruling in Texas in November.

British Politician Promoting Assisted Suicide Suggests Poor People are Better Off Dead

In a striking scene in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge asks two men raising money for the poor, “Are there no prisons? … And the Union workhouses? … Are they still in operation?” When the charity supporters reply that many would rather die than go to such places, Scrooge replied, “If they would rather die … they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.” Later in the story, Scrooge is reminded of his dehumanizing words and is ashamed.

Recently, in real life Britain, Lord Falconer of Thoroton suggested to the British House of Lords that the poor might be better off dead:

Where the reason that you want an assisted death is because in your mind you are influenced by your circumstances, for example, because you are poor—should you be barred from having an assisted death because of your poverty? In my view not.

In Britain’s nationalized healthcare system, the cost of the procedure for the poor is not an issue. Rather, Lord Falconer seems to be suggesting that the poor should have the “right to die” if they are ashamed of being poor. Poverty, in this view, is a fate worse than death.

Hating Jesus In Vienna For Christmas: Blasphemy, Decadence, And ‘Civilizational Erasure’ In Filthy Art Exhibit

I love Vienna during the Christmas season, which is when the city is at its loveliest. But the Kunstlerhaus museum has chosen this holy season to launch an exhibition of shocking blasphemy. …

It is particularly appalling that this appears in Vienna, the ancestral capital of the Habsburgs. It used to be such a Catholic city. On current population trends, the former imperial capital will be majority Muslim by the end of this century. This is what happens when you cease to believe that you have a culture worth defending, particularly from barbarians like the curatorial team that put this vile exhibit together.

Trump to create sanctions plan for Nigeria, congressman says

U.S. President Donald Trump is crafting a sanctions plan to increase pressure on the Nigerian government amid ongoing Christian persecution, according to a leading member of Congress.

President Trump “is in the process of crafting a comprehensive action plan including sanctions to pursue reform,” according to Rep. Chris Smith, R-New Jersey, who described Nigeria as “ground zero,” and the “focal point of the most brutal and murderous anti-Christian persecution in the world today.”

Smith, a Catholic who chairs the house Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Human Rights, mentioned the plan during his Dec. 9 speech at “The Emergency Summit on Crimes Against Christians,” organized by For the Martyrs, a nonprofit that aids persecuted Christians. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, and Rep. Marlin Stuzman, R-Indiana, also spoke at the event.

Fruit of the council: A Church no longer serious about salvation

By their fruits you shall know them (Mt 7:16). It was the hope of the council fathers, led by Pope John XXIII, that the Second Vatican Council would herald a “new Pentecost”. That has not happened. Sixty years on, it is time to consider why, and to look seriously at what has unfolded before our eyes.

One enormous change that took place was in the everyday language and tone the Church’s clerical representatives frequently use. This is not to paint all priests and religious with the same brush, which would be deeply unfair, but when one reads or listens to homilies and writings from before Vatican II compared to after, there is a marked difference. A note can be found repeatedly present in virtually all things called “Catholic” before, which suddenly, inexplicably, fades into hushed, trailing echoes afterwards: gravity.

Catholicism used to be known as a serious religion. Militaryesque priests in cassocks, solemn chant, confessions heard and last rites administered to the dying with urgency. Our religion was iconically unwavering on matters such as contraception, marriage, abortion, funeral rites and, above all, salvation.
