Trump Lays Out Vision for ‘Strong and Unified West’ at World Economic Forum

President Donald Trump expressed his vision for “a strong and unified West” at the World Economic Forum on Wednesday and called on Europe to abandon the culture it has cultivated over the past decade.

Trump said European policies in recent history have been “destructive,” leading to “lower economic growth, lower standards of living, lower birth rates, more socially disruptive migration, more vulnerability to hostile foreign adversaries, and much, much smaller militaries.”

“The United States cares greatly about the people of Europe. We really do. I mean, look, I am derived from Europe — Scotland and Germany. One hundred percent Scotland, my mother. One hundred percent German, my father,” he said. “And we believe deeply in the bonds we share with Europe as a civilization.”

Thank You, Trump, for Reminding Europe’s Leaders How Utterly Stupid They Are – essay by Itxu Díaz

The Davos gathering used to be a long litany of lamentations. The apostles of climate doom would arrive in their private jets, dine well, do those things they do when their wives aren’t traveling with them, mount the Davos altar, and deliver their apocalyptic prophecies of the type: “The end of the world is near. Ask ‘Pachamama’ for forgiveness, pay more taxes, sell your diesel car, buy an electric scooter, and believe in the gospel of Al Gore.” One after another, they performed the same ritual. Businessmen agreed in agreement while conducting deals behind the scenes, politicians gave their most dramatic performances, and heads of international organizations sold their influence for a hefty price in the tea rooms. To the outside world, in front of the media, it was all the tedious repetition of the Woke Catechism and the Gospel of the End Times. Now things are different. And it sounds better. …

The EU no longer exists. The farce has been exposed. And the longer Brussels’ leaders — who have been living off Europeans for years — take to understand this, the worse it will be. That’s all Trump came to tell them in Davos.

Trump: Minerals, Golden Dome Part of Greenland Framework

President Donald Trump revealed few details Wednesday of a framework for a future deal with NATO over Greenland, but said it would include access to mineral rights for the U.S. and its European allies, as well as collaboration on the Golden Dome missile defense system.

“They’re going to be involved in the Golden Dome, and they’re going to be involved in mineral rights, and so are we,” Trump told CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

When asked how long the deal would last, Trump said, “Forever.”

Denmark Doesn’t Deserve Greenland – commentary by Francesco Stipo

Last week, President Trump announced that the United States will acquire Greenland one way or the other.

Greenland is a self-governing territory of Denmark; it is the world’s largest island, with a small population of less than 100,000 inhabitants, mostly composed of indigenous people called Inuits.

Because Greenland sits at the intersection of three continents (Asia, Europe, and North America) and is rich in strategic resources, it has immense geopolitical importance. …

[T]he island’s geopolitical relevance is disproportionate with respect to the global role of Denmark, a country of just 6 million inhabitants. During World War II, Nazi Germany invaded Denmark, forcing the United States to occupy Greenland to prevent it from falling under Hitler’s control. The United States should have kept the island; instead, it made a major mistake, returning it to Denmark after the end of the war.

Vance and Johnson to address March for Life

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson are expected to speak at this year’s March for Life in Washington, D.C., marking a significant show of support from the highest levels of government for the country’s largest annual pro-life gathering.

The 2026 march, set to take place on Friday, 23 January, will bring tens of thousands to the streets of the capital to reaffirm the dignity of unborn life and advocate for continued protections in law and culture. While the event has always drawn a strong turnout from grassroots activists, religious leaders, and students, this year’s edition carries particular weight as it comes amid renewed national debates over abortion legislation and state-level protections following the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Vice President Vance, a Catholic and long-time advocate for family policy, is due to give remarks that highlight the moral and social case for defending life in the womb. Speaker Johnson, who has frequently cited his Christian faith in defence of pro-life legislation, is also expected to address the rally and signal the continued commitment of congressional leadership to opposing efforts to expand abortion access federally.

Catholic Loyola University Chicago Pays for Killing Babies in Abortions

Loyola University Chicago students can get help killing their preborn babies through the health insurance plan at their Catholic school.

The Jesuit Catholic university continues to cover “abortion care services” through its campus health plan according to the certificate of coverage published by UnitedHealthcare. Loyola has covered abortions since at least the 2022-2023 school year.

The health insurance coverage stands in contrast to the teachings of the Catholic Church, which has always opposed the intentional killing of innocent preborn babies.

The Catholic Church has always “affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion.” Abortion is “gravely contrary to the moral law,” the Catechism of the Catholic Church states.

Polish press reports on Charlotte NC diocese: The bishop ordered the communion rails to be thrown away – some parishes say ‘no.’

Sunday, January 18, 2026, was to be, according to the decree of Bp. Michael Martin [Charlotte, North Carolina], the deadline for the removal of the communion rails in the churches of the entire diocese. Not all parishes have adapted to the absurd order of their ordinary. More than 30 priests deposited their dubia to the Vatican, and some parishes are leaving rails in place until they receive a response from the Holy See.

Bishop Martin began his march against liturgical tradition and conservatism in May 2025, when he ordered the celebration of the Mass in the traditional rite to be stopped in the four parishes that did so. In return, he established one new place of celebration (where Masses are celebrated only on Sundays!) in a chapel that belongs to a former Protestant congregation.

It is worth noting that the diocese of Charlotte covers almost half of the state of North Carolina, and therefore one place of celebration of the traditional Mass means that people have to overcome sometimes very long distances to get to it. Secondly, the chapel is too small to accommodate all the faithful who have attended the “old” Mass in the four parishes mentioned so far. However, the bishop had a golden advice to this criticism, suggesting that the faithful should go to the traditional Mass only “occasionally.”

On the initial actions of the Bishop, Martin’s priests responded with patience and obedience, thinking that he simply did not like the Mass of All Time. However, it quickly turned out that this was only the first element of his liturgical murder. The hierarch launched a kind of bulldozer, which was supposed to remove almost everything that gives even the appearance of liturgical traditionalism. Removal of bells, removal of the prayer to St. Michael, women wearing veils, kneeling in front of the Blessed Sacrament lists the actions of Bishop Jason Murphy, long-time coordinator of North Carolina’s Catholic Conference of Men. …

Nigerian Catholic Priest Says Trump’s Strikes on Extremists Are Effective in Protecting Christians

“My parish is really on the front line between the Muslim North and the Christian South,” said Father George, a Catholic priest and pastor of St. Augustine Parish in Dong, on the outskirts of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. Plateau, one of only two predominantly Christian states in northern Nigeria, has been the site of numerous attacks by Islamist groups, particularly Fulani militias. …

He went on to say that his current parish has experienced a brief window of peace, which he attributed to targeted strikes ordered by Donald Trump against extremist groups in Nigeria.

“We are always thanking God because we can see that He is answering our prayers,” Father George said. “I have been in my parish for two years, and in those two years we have experienced, for the first time, two months with no kidnappings and no violence. No kidnapping incidents by the Fulani and no attacks by the Fulani. This is the first time that has happened.” …

Father George explained that the strikes drew international attention to the suffering of Christian communities, which in turn pressured the Nigerian government to allow security forces to act against Islamic extremists. “Before this, there was clear impunity,” he said.

“Now that is why you are seeing calm,” he added. “Beyond that, the situation has exposed the Nigerian government. Their hypocrisy has unraveled. They are now being forced to act, so they have no option but to sit up, and they are sitting up. …
