Day 5 of Iran War: Vatican decries ‘law of force,’ Trump admin defends strikes, public polling shows mixed results

Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin spoke out March 4 against the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran as the Trump administration defended the operation and signaled the conflict is accelerating.

In an interview published by Vatican News’ Andrea Tornielli, Cardinal Parolin criticized the Trump administration’s logic of preventive war and warned that the events in the Middle East reflect an “erosion of international law” in which “justice has given way to force; the force of law has been replaced by the law of force.”

“If states were to be recognized as having a right to ‘preventive war,’ according to their own criteria and without a supranational legal framework, the whole world would risk being set ablaze,” he said when asked about the justification for the initial U.S.-Israeli strikes.

Peter Schweizer Explains How Trump’s Iran Strikes May Cripple China

Journalist Peter Schweizer appeared on Fox News Wednesday and explained how President Donald Trump’s strikes on Iran could potentially cripple another U.S. adversary — China.

Schweizer appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” just four days after the U.S. and Israel jointly struck the Islamic theocracy, killing its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking Iranian officials. The journalist suggested that the U.S. operation, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, may have “ripple effects” that become “tidal waves in China,” as the Communist Party-controlled country relies heavily on Iranian oil and was a critical strategic partner of the Ayatollah’s regime.

“Any time you have these kinds of military operations that are taking place, they have ripple effects,” Schweizer told host Jesse Watters. “These ripples are actually tidal waves in China. Think about it. Over the last 58 days, between what happened in Venezuela and what started happening in Iran, China has lost two of its most important allies in the developing world.”

House Report: Walz, Ellison Knew About Minnesota Fraud ‘for Years’

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was aware of the widespread welfare fraud in his state “for years” and “repeatedly failed to act,” alleges a congressional report released on Wednesday.

Walz and the state’s Attorney General Keith Ellison are set to testify Wednesday about the $9 billion scandal before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The report, which also alleges that Ellison knew of the welfare fraud in Minnesota, draws from interviews with state employees and whistleblowers.

“Senior officials in the governor’s office and Attorney General Ellison’s office were aware of credible fraud concerns in Minnesota’s social services programs as early as 2019 within the Department of Human Services (DHS) and by April 2020 within the Department of Education (MDE), despite later public statements by Governor Walz suggesting otherwise,” the report says.

The committee and staff conducted transcribed interviews with nine key current and former Minnesota state officials. The investigation focuses on alleged money laundering and fraud in Minnesota’s social services programs, uncovered by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota.

Texas Democrat James Talarico Says Bible Supports Killing Babies in Abortions

James Talarico, a Texas lawmaker, won the Democratic race to run for U.S. Senate. As a Democrat, he strongly supports abortion. What has surprised many Texans is not just his position, but the way he defends it. He says the Bible supports his view.

Talarico grew up in a Christian Presbyterian church and often talks about his faith. But his explanation of Scripture ignores what the Bible teaches about the value of Life, especially the lives of babies in the womb.

Around the time the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, allowing Texas to protect preborn children, Talarico preached a sermon that focused almost entirely on abortion.
