Pope Leo’s postoperative recovery ‘progressing normally’

On his third day in the hospital, Pope Leo XIV’s doctors say his chest X-ray in the morning shows “good recovery of the lung that underwent surgery.”

Dr. Luigi Carbone and Prof. Stefano Margaritora have provided the following update on the Pope’s postoperative recovery:

“This morning, the Holy Father underwent routine checks, which yielded normal results. The chest X-ray showed good recovery of the lung that underwent surgery. He carried out his daily activities independently. His physiotherapy session included a full range of physical activities.”

“Overall, his postoperative recovery is progressing normally.”

Trump torches Democrats at Arizona rally, warns they will ‘destroy our country’ ahead of midterms

Rep Andy Biggs joined Trump onstage and urged the Bullhead City crowd to ‘vote Republican top to bottom’ ahead of Election Day

President Donald Trump brought a blunt warning to Arizona voters Wednesday, declaring Democrats would “destroy our country” as he blasted their State of the Union conduct and urged supporters to turn the state red from top to bottom.

With Election Day less than three weeks away, Trump rallied behind Rep. Andy Biggs, the Republican gubernatorial nominee, and a slate of GOP candidates during a campaign stop in Bullhead City, taking aim at Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs and calling for a victory in honor of Charlie Kirk.

“On election night, Arizona is going to prove that America does not belong to those who hate it,” Trump said. “America belongs to those who love, love, love, love — love it.”

Feds building case to deport Ilhan Omar as new details emerge about DC home raid

Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband were at their Washington home Monday morning when federal agents executed a search warrant, taking the Minnesota Democrat’s cellphone, notebooks, personal computers and her passport, according to a new report.

The “Squad” member is the target of separate federal investigations, The Post confirmed Wednesday, with prosecutors in Minnesota probing potential immigration fraud, while the office of DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro is pursuing an inquiry into the finances of Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett.

The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials and others familiar with the Omar case, reported that the ultimate goal of the immigration investigation is to strip the lawmaker of her citizenship and deport her.

How Barack Obama’s Islamic Socialism Spawned Abdul El-Sayed And Zohran Mamdani by Jeannie DeAngelis

If Barack Obama’s presidency was a lesson in school, Abdul El-Sayed and Zohran Mamdani appear to be star pupils.

Since 2004, the political precedents Barack Obama sought to establish have already been in motion, and now, in 2026, newcomers Abdul El-Sayed and Zohran Mamdani appear to be advancing his unfinished mission in exactly that direction. That may be why Obama seems to be playing the role of a proud father, secretly smiling in approval as his well-schooled children venture out to harvest the seeds he’s spent more than 20 years sowing.

As these wet-behind-the-ears political successors seek to establish themselves as the new face of what Obama has long hoped would take shape, Obama appears to be tacitly passing the torch to trophy-kids El-Sayed and Mamdani and seems to have no problem publicly supporting their efforts. By standing side by side with El-Sayed and Mamdani, the former president reinforces policies associated with democratic socialism and positions and agendas that extend beyond what he publicly championed during his two terms as a supposed capitalist Democrat. The association further undermines Obama’s moderate persona and highlights his role in propelling the Democrat Party down the path of left-wing extremism.

Famous scholar on Teresa of Avila’s Autobiography – El Libro de la Vida

Saint Teresa of Avila’s Life is among the most remarkable accounts ever written of the human encounter with the divine. The Life is not really an autobiography at all, but rather a confession written for inquisitors by a nun whose raptures and mystical claims had aroused suspicion. Despite its troubled origins, the book has had a profound impact on Christian spirituality for five centuries, attracting admiration from readers as diverse as mystics, philosophers, artists, psychoanalysts, and neurologists. How did a manuscript once kept under lock and key by the Spanish Inquisition become one of the most inspiring religious books of all time?

In “The Life of Saint Teresa of Avila: A Biography” (Princeton University Press, 2019) National Book Award winner Carlos Eire tells the story of this incomparable spiritual masterpiece, examining its composition and reception in the sixteenth century, the various ways its mystical teachings have been interpreted and reinterpreted across time, and its enduring influence in our own secular age.
