Trump announces Hamas and Israel have agreed to first phase of Gaza peace deal

President Donald Trump announced in a social media post on Wednesday that Hamas and Israel have signed off on the first phase of a peace deal in Gaza.

“This means that all of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS,” he added.

Cdl. Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, welcomes announcement of Gaza agreement

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem welcomes with joy the announcement of an agreement that envisages a cessation of the attacks in the Gaza Strip and the immediate release of the hostages, as well as that of Palestinian prisoners.

The Patriarchate ardently hopes that this accord will be fully and faithfully implemented, so that it may mark the beginning of the end of this terrible war. It also stresses the absolute urgency of immediate humanitarian relief and the unconditional entry of sufficient aid to Gaza’s suffering population. Above all, the Patriarchate prays that this step may open a path of healing and reconciliation for both Palestinians and Israelis. …

Gaza Priest: “We hope that the Gaza Calvary is coming to an end”

An Italian News Service is reporting that Fr Gabriel Romanelli of the Holy Family Church in Gaza City is hoping ‘the Gaza Calvary is coming to an end.’

The news service reports that currently about 450 Christians have found refuge at Holy Cross Parish and are assisted by Fr. Romanelli, alongside Fr. Youssef Asaad and Fr. Carlos Ferrero, together with the nuns of the Incarnate Word (Ive) and those of Mother Teresa. They all take care of numerous severely disabled and intransportable children.

Fr. Romanelli reports that Israeli military operations continue on the ground, including air strikes and bombings in several areas cause further civilian casualties, displacement, and the destruction of infrastructure.

“However,” adds Fr. Romanelli, “there are voices here announcing a possible agreement. We hope for the best. And we truly hope that the inhabitants of Gaza can stay and live here and rebuild their lives. For our part, we are fine, but we are tired and exhausted. We continue to work, to pray, to do good for everyone, to be instruments of peace.”

The case for Trump winning a Nobel Peace Prize

President Donald Trump has said he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, which eluded him during his first administration, but he’ll find out on Friday if he finally got selected for the prestigious award.

Trump would be only the fifth U.S. president to win a Nobel Peace Prize, following in the footsteps of former Presidents Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Woodrow Wilson, and Teddy Roosevelt.

The 2025 winner will be announced this Friday at 5 a.m. and presented with the award on Dec. 10 during a ceremony in Oslo, Norway. …

He’s also said he doesn’t believe he’ll get it even though he believes he deserves it.
