Trump scores Supreme Court win on mail-in voting restrictions before midterms
The Supreme Court allowed the Trump admin to enforce revised mail-ballot restrictions
In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court handed the Trump administration a victory on Monday, allowing it to enforce President Donald Trump’s “election integrity” executive order restricting mail-in voting ahead of the November midterms.
The high court lifted an injunction that had blocked the order in 23 states that challenged it after the administration appealed in July.
The U.S. Postal Service and Justice Department said they would immediately implement the revised mail-ballot restrictions after the ruling.
Most immediately, the ruling clears the path for the U.S. Postal Service to check its distribution of mail-in ballots against a list of citizens maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. But it’s also a significant political victory for the Trump administration as it has advocated against the widespread use of mail-in-voting, citing what it believes is a heightened vulnerability to tampering and voter fraud.

‘I Think We’re in a War’: Texas Pastors Gather for Training on Islamification Threat
A group with special operations and intelligence skills and filmmaker Chris Burgard teamed up on Saturday to teach pastors in East Texas how to respond to the rise of Islam in the Lone Star State.
The Allied Special Intelligence Group is an organization that uses its knowledge of special operations military skills, counterintelligence, and human intelligence to educate and train citizens on how to “legally and lawfully, delay, disrupt, dismantle, and remove Communists/Marxists and Terrorists networks from our communities in order to restore and protect our Constitutional Republic.”
Two of the group’s operatives, John Bennett, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and former Oklahoma state representative, and Matt Shea, who served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and is a conservative lawyer, pastor, and politician who served in the Washington House of Representatives from 2009 to 2021, took up the task of educating the Texas pastors about the threat of Islamification.

Outrage as [California] school shows kids as young as 14 extremely graphic abortion, sex and transgender art
Outraged parents in Central California are demanding answers from a local high school district after kids as young as 14 were shown content featuring a bloody abortion and men wearing strap-on genitalia.
Sanger High School students ages 14 to 18 were exposed to graphic abortion imagery and explicit language while taking a summer dual-enrollment art course at Reedley College taught by professor Jose Soria.
The class, titled “Art 2 Introduction to Visual Culture,” was a dual enrollment class that featured content from an art installation called Wo/Manhouse 2022. Inside the installation was a “At Home D.I.Y. Abortion” room that showed a statue of a woman sitting on a bench bleeding with a coat hanger nearby.
Another room showed pictures of women breastfeeding alongside a cow statue pumping out breast milk while a bathroom named “Trans Bathroom” featured a “TESTOSTERONE INJECTION SITES” sign and compression underwear.
Other graphic language such as “DON’T FORGET FOREPLAY” was also taped on walls. An “ENCOURAGING BANNERS FOR ORGASMS” plaque was also attached to the wall.

San Francisco archbishop urges new Nigerian priests to be ‘friends and fathers’ to their people
“The people of God must know that the priest is with them, that he is for them, and that he acts only with their best interest in mind,” Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone told 14 newly ordained priests.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of the Archdiocese of San Francisco urged 14 newly ordained priests in Nigeria to model their ministry on Christ’s sacrificial love and remain close to those entrusted to their pastoral care.
In his homily during the Aug. 22 priestly ordinations of 14 deacons for the Diocese of Makurdi, Cordileone said the commandment Jesus gave the apostles during his farewell discourse provides a fundamental framework for understanding the identity and mission of the Catholic priest.
“Be friends and fathers to your people,” he said during the Eucharistic celebration at the Sesugh Maria Pilgrimage Centre in Makurdi. “The people of God must know that the priest is with them, that he is for them, and that he acts only with their best interest in mind.” …
Addressing the challenging circumstances in which the 14 deacons were being ordained priests, particularly in Nigeria’s Benue state, Cordileone said: “You are being ordained into a world in which this is also a dangerous step.” …
“There is the possibility that Our Lord may call you to lay down your life for your friends,” he said.
The archbishop referred to the suffering of Christians in Nigeria and the possibility that priests could be called to martyrdom in imitation of Christ.

Synodality Will Kill Catholicism by Brad Miner
The Catholic Church has always distinguished itself from other Christian bodies by its claim to possess, and be bound by, a deposit of faith handed down from the Apostles. The Church comes from Christ, and the Church doesn’t invent, revise, or vote on its Magisterium, its authoritative application of that depositum fidei. It receives, guards, and transmits that ancient faith. Doctrine can develop in the sense that St. John Henry Newman described it, growing in clarity and application, as an acorn becomes an oak tree. But it cannot be renegotiated – or reversed! – by majority sentiment or contemporary enthusiasm.
The claim of having received the Truth and of guarding it is the Church’s entire reason for existing and makes it something other than a voluntary religious association. But synodality, no matter what its defenders suggest, introduces a mechanism capable of dissolving that claim: a standing, undefined, participatory process for generating endless, contemporary ecclesial consensuses that increasingly function as rival sources of authority alongside, and – from the standpoint of the innovators – ahead of the settled deposit of faith and, therefore, the Magisterium meant to guard it.
The vagueness we’ve seen so far in the synodal process has not been incidental. It’s a feature, not a bug. After multiple synodal gatherings, the Church still has no fixed definition of synodality – only descriptions of a “style,” a “process,” an “instinct,” and this inability to clearly define synodality is no minor omission.
