DOJ launching grand jury investigation into Russiagate conspiracy allegations
Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered a grand jury investigation into the intelligence regarding President Trump and Russia in the run-up to the 2016 election.
She has directed Justice Department staff to begin legal proceedings and ordered a federal prosecutor to present evidence to a grand jury about the matter to secure a potential indictment, according to a source familiar with Bondi’s efforts. It is unclear what the charges would be and who would be charged.

Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) “very closely” (32%) or “somewhat closely” (33%), repudiating the calculated media silence about the Obama administration’s fake narratives and manipulation of intelligence to frame Trump as a Kremlin stooge to cover up Clinton’s wrongdoing.

‘Cowardice & Dereliction Of Duty’ – Texas Governor Orders Arrest Of Fleeing Democratic Lawmakers
Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered the arrest of Democratic lawmakers who left the state to block a controversial vote on new congressional maps.
“Texas House Democrats abandoned their duty to Texans,” Abbott said in a statement Monday.
“I ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to locate, arrest, and return to the House chamber any member who has abandoned their duty to Texans.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running for the Republican nomination for US Senate, said he supported the speedy arrest of “jet-setting runaways” who left the state during the legislative session.
Their choice of exile location is positively drenched in hypocrisy, as Illinois arguably has the worst gerrymandering in America — to Democrats’ benefit, of course. In 2024, Democrats won 53% of the popular vote in Illinois House races, but took 82% of the seats (14 out of 17).

Newsom stands firm on California redistricting, won’t back down until Texas does
California Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Monday that the state would not back down from its redistricting fight and pledged to “fight fire with fire” if Texas tried to redraw its congressional district maps.
Newsom spent most of his afternoon press conference going after President Donald Trump, repeatedly alleging he was behind a nefarious and illegal stunt to sway the 2026 midterm elections.

Trump Floats ‘Tariff Dividend’ for Middle-Class Americans
President Donald Trump is suggesting that middle- and lower-income Americans could receive direct cash payments — what he referred to as a “dividend” — funded by revenues generated from his tariffs on foreign imports.
“There could be a distribution or a dividend to the people of our country. I would say for people that would be middle-income people and lower-income people, we could do a dividend,” the president told reporters Sunday before boarding Air Force One on his way back to Washington, D.C., from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Backpedaling On Taxpayer-Funded IVF Would Be A Trump White House Win, Not An ‘L’
President Donald Trump spent the last few months of his 2024 campaign promising to force taxpayers to foot the bill for a procedure that routinely destroys human life. His plans to pave the way for Americans to make “more babies” by subsidizing in vitro fertilization, however, are allegedly on hold.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem lauded Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz” as a model for state-run detention centers housing migrants, telling CBS News the proximity to an airport gives Immigration and Customs Enforcement newfound “efficiency.”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis partnered with the Department of Homeland Security to open Alligator Alcatraz at a remote airstrip surrounded by the Everglades in South Florida.

Miami Archdiocese celebrates its first Mass at ‘Alligator Alcatraz’
As part of a new Catholic ministry, the Archdiocese of Miami celebrated its first Mass at the Florida detention center for unauthorized immigrants known as “Alligator Alcatraz.”
“I am pleased that our request to provide for the pastoral care of the detainees has been accommodated,” Archbishop Thomas Wenski said in an Aug. 3 statement. “Also, we were able to respond to a request to provide similar service to the staff who reside at the facility.”

ICE is Deporting People at a Frantic Pace
President Donald Trump’s administration is deporting almost 1,300 people a day, according to the latest figures,
The numbers are still below the figures deported during President Barack Obama’s administration. Still, if the pace keeps up, it will surpass the quantities of 2012, a record set by the Democratic president.
Nevertheless, according to The Washington Times, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it is running into several roadblocks on its path to rack up the deportations, in its quest to boot out the millions who arrived to the U.S. during President Joe Biden’s border catastrophe.

Woke Media Outlets NPR and PBS Scrambling; Top executive resigns on the heels of federal funding cuts
Federally funded media companies just got their quills handed to them, and now it appears they are scrambling to reshuffle their woke practices. Edith Chapin, the editor in chief and acting chief content officer of National Public Radio (NPR) announced she will be leaving the organization later this year while the Public Broadcasting Service and affiliates are looking at layoffs and other budget cuts.
[NPR President and CEO Katherine] Maher says the cuts represent “an unwarranted dismantling of beloved local civic institutions, and an act of Congress that disregards the public will” …
PBS and NPR still receive a lot of funding from other sources, so it is unlikely they will shut down.

This incredibly biased interview was with Carol Mason, the author of an upcoming book which apparently tries to make the bizarre case that the pro-life movement – a movement driven largely by mothers and grandmothers – is extremist.
The interview begins with an outright falsehood, where Mason claims the movement sees “the rule of law as something to be ignored” …

Brian Burch: America’s Ideal Ambassador to the Holy See
It took ridiculously long, but it finally happened.
Over the weekend, after months of intentional delays by Democrats behaving like partisan ideologues, the Senate confirmed Brian Burch as U.S. ambassador to the Vatican. Predictably, it was a party-line vote, 49 to 44.
Burch’s nomination had been held hostage by Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), who placed a blanket hold on all State Department nominees — over 50 in total — because of what he dubbed President Donald Trump’s “illegal attempt to shutter the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as an independent agency.” Not until Trump’s move “is reversed” would Schatz permit a vote. Mercifully, a vote finally occurred when U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) provided cloture on Burch’s confirmation on July 31.
The delay was highly ill-advised. It came during the crucial period when the previous pope, Francis, had died, and a new pope, Leo XIV, was elected and installed as the 267th successor to St. Peter. The pope was chosen by the conclave on May 8. His installation at St. Peter’s Square was on May 18.

In Charlotte [North Carolina], Catholics May Have to Give Up the Old Ways
It’s not Sunday morning, but the Rev. Matthew Buettner still proceeds down the aisle of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Tryon, North Carolina, accompanied by 15 servers in white and black vestments. Beneath arches of burnished dark brown wood and ceiling tiles adorned with seashells and fleurs-de-lis, the priest circles the Italian marble altar, swinging a thurible of aromatic incense to bless the sanctuary.
Over 50 people are gathered in the pews for a traditional Latin Mass on a Tuesday to honor the feast day of the church’s patron saint. The celebration proceeds much as it would have 500 years ago.

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was confined to house arrest after allegedly using social media in violation of a court order banning its use during his prosecution.
In a Monday ruling, Alexandre de Moraes, a Supreme Court justice and the judge responsible for Bolsonaro’s case, alleged that the former president had violated the terms of his restraining order by sharing posts through his sons’ and allies’ social media accounts. Moraes ordered authorities to seize his cellphone and confine him to house arrest, limiting visits to his family and allies.

If Muslims behead Catholics in a church, does it make a sound with legacy media?
All was initially well for Catholics at [a] Sunday night’s mass at the Parish of Blessed Anuarite in Komanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo. They reportedly gathered to engage in festivities celebrating the Catholic Church’s silver jubilee, but many of them would never get that opportunity.
In an instant, radical Islamic terrorists from the ISIS-backed Allied Democratic Forces burst into the church and began murdering innocent churchgoers, many of whom were women and children. Some were reportedly beheaded in the church. The most up-to-date reports have the fatality list at 49 people. It was the latest act in what should arguably be described as genocide against Christians.
It’s an all-too-common occurrence that regularly gets underreported, if even reported at all.

The Cathedral bell destroyed by the atomic bomb [in Nagasaki] will ring again: “It will ring to invoke peace”
Buildings razed to the ground, living beings disintegrated, people killed in seconds as a result of an energy so devastating that their shadows remain imprinted on the walls or the asphalt today. In the terrible wake of destruction caused by the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, exactly 80 years ago, one of the two bells of the ancient Urakami Cathedral was also swept away.
When the church was rebuilt, that bell tower remained empty. In recent months, several American Catholics have raised funds to rebuild that bell and have donated it to the Cathedral. Peter Michiaki Nakamura, Archbishop of Nagasaki, spoke about this in an interview with Fides: “this new bell was recently installed in the empty bell tower and will ring for the first time at the same time that the atomic bomb exploded in the sky of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.”
