Data Center Animosity Reflects Legit Concerns AI-Mongers Don’t Care About Humanity’s Interests
The question at the heart of the AI debate is whether the human person can survive in a world dominated by mass artificial intelligence.
The debate over AI data centers, and the growing opposition to them in local communities, is partly a proxy for deep anxiety about artificial intelligence itself and the kind of future AI companies are trying to create.
Same goes for the college graduates who recently booed their keynote speakers for praising AI. The viral clip of University of Arizona graduates repeatedly booing Eric Schmidt, the billionaire former CEO of Google, for praising AI and urging grads to embrace an AI-dominated future might prove to be a turning point in this debate.
At the very least, it was revealing. Every time Schmidt, a man who made his fortune in disruptive technology, so much as uttered “AI,” a chorus of boos rippled through the stadium. The same thing happened at the University of Central Florida, where graduates of the College of Arts and Humanities and the Nicholson School of Communication and Media practically booed their commencement speaker, a real estate executive, off the stage after she declared, “The rise of artificial intelligence is the next industrial revolution.” When she said, “Only a few years ago, AI was not a factor in our lives,” the graduates erupted in applause — cheering for a world they wish they could go back to.

Media Livid Over Trump Acknowledging Christian Founding
The Second Continental Congress called for a “day of humiliation, Fasting and Prayer” in May of 1776 amidst the impending separation with the Crown. As General George Washington stated, the day was set to “supplicate the mercy of Almighty God” and seek forgiveness for the nation’s sins before undertaking what would become the American Revolution.
Two hundred and fifty years later, President Donald Trump’s administration held a national prayer and rededication event. But the day of rededication ignited rebuke from the usual suspects, who framed the event as an alarming attempt to rewrite American history by portraying America as a nation founded in Christianity.
“Trump Administration Pushes Narrative of Christian Founding at Rally,” The Times’ Ruth Graham and Elizabeth Dias wrote. “The rally aimed to crystallize the narrative that the nation’s founding was an intentionally Christian project, a framing disputed by many scholars.”

Vandal removes head of Sacred Heart of Jesus statue at East Islip church
The damage was discovered as churchgoers gathered for services and First Communion celebrations, an event that typically brings families to the spot to take photos.
A quiet Sunday morning turned unsettling for parishioners at St. Mary’s Church when they discovered the head of a Sacred Heart of Jesus statue had been removed.
“I had come out from a funeral and saw people hanging around,” said Father Anthony Iaconis, pastor of St. Mary’s.
The damage was discovered as churchgoers gathered for services and First Communion celebrations, an event that typically brings families to the spot to take photos.
“Across the way into the auditorium, we had first communions and this is where the kids come and they take their picture,” Iaconis said.
Police were called, and the statue’s head was later found nearby in bushes, according to the pastor.

A fire at the Mother of Christ Specialist Hospital in the Diocese of Enugu broke out on May 12, causing vast damage — but a Marian statue was left untouched amid the flames.
A statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary remained untouched after a fire severely damaged sections of Mother of Christ Specialist Hospital in Nigeria’s Catholic Diocese of Enugu on May 10, the administrator at the facility said.
In an interview with ACI Africa, the sister service of EWTN News in Africa, on May 12, Sister Maria Chinaemerem Igwe said the incident has strengthened the faith of many Catholics and drawn Christians from other denominations to the hospital to pray and witness what she described as an extraordinary occurrence.
The Nigerian member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ (IHM) said the fire broke out around 10 p.m. after most staff members had retired for the day.
“As I was coming, I saw flames going above the roof. Everybody around, nurses, workers, and students, had gathered trying to pour water through the windows because the fire had already broken the glass,” Sister Maria recounted, noting that the fire destroyed the reception area, administrative offices, the CCTV control room, the doctors’ lounge, and part of the children’s ward before firefighters from the Enugu State Fire Service contained the blaze.
