Trump and Netanyahu say they have agreed to a plan to end war in Gaza

President Donald Trump announced Sept. 29 that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a U.S.-backed framework to end the war in Gaza, contingent on Hamas releasing hostages and Israel withdrawing its troops.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Netanyahu, Trump said the deal requires Hamas to free hostages within 72 hours and calls for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Israel, in turn, would gradually withdraw forces from Gaza City, where it launched a ground offensive Sept. 16.

GOP fights for upper hand as Washington braces for government shutdown

Republicans are attempting to keep pressure on Democrats, and away from their own party, as Washington lurches toward a politically risky government showdown.

With just hours until federal funding expires at midnight on Wednesday, Republicans are trying to minimize any missteps in a fight they believe is a political loser for Democrats, who won’t vote for a seven-week funding bill without an extension of expiring Obamacare subsidies.

House GOP leadership encouraged its members to stay on message during a Monday conference call and emphasize the economic damage that a shutdown would inflict …

Senate Democrats have already gotten themselves in political hot water with a campaign retreat in Napa Valley that is slated to take place the second week of a possible shutdown.

Mike Johnson Says Schumer ‘Willing’ To Force Shutdown Because Someone Is ‘Coming For Him’

House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared on Fox News Monday and accused Democratic Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer of deliberately risking a government shutdown to appease the far-left wing of his party. …

“I fully expected that [Democrats] would come into the White House today and be reasonable. But they weren’t. They dug their heels in. It’s painfully obvious that he’s got to watch his back because the young socialists are coming for him, AOC and the others, who want to challenge him for his seat,” Johnson said. “And that is 100% what Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, by extension, are watching for. Their own political cover.”

Catholic bishops mourn deadly attack on Latter-day Saints church in Michigan

Several Catholic bishops are expressing their sorrow over a deadly attack at a Michigan house of worship, which took place just weeks after a mass shooting at a Minnesota Catholic church.

At least four were killed when a gunman drove his truck into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, during a Sept. 28 service, then set the church building on fire while shooting with a semiautomatic rifle into the congregation.

Eight victims remain in the hospital, with one in critical condition.

The NFL’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Pick Is As ‘Bad’ As It Gets

The National Football League (NFL) furthered its descent into gay race communism on Sunday with the announcement that uber left-wing rapper-singer Bad Bunny will be the featured performer of the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny, otherwise known as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, said in a statement released by the league. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL [Go tell your grandma we’re going to be the Super Bowl Halftime Show].”

Cardinal Cupich Meetings With Illinois Catholic Leaders Canceled Amid Durbin Award Controversy

The meetings of two groups of Illinois Catholic leaders chaired by Cardinal Blase Cupich were postponed indefinitely last week after a lay leader requested that the Chicago cardinal-archbishop’s controversial decision to honor a pro-abortion-rights senator be discussed.

John Breen, a board member of the Catholic Conference of Illinois (CCI), asked on Sept. 23 that Cardinal Cupich’s plan to give Sen. Dick Durbin a “lifetime achievement award” at an upcoming archdiocesan fundraiser be added to the agenda of a Sept. 25 board meeting because the honor risked undermining the group’s advocacy work.

Pro-Choice ‘Catholic’? Essay by Randall Smith

Cardinal Cupich has decided to honor pro-abortion Senator Dick Durbin. The chancery office says that they are honoring him for things other than his support for abortion, but that’s like honoring Bill Cosby for the wonderful things he did other than his mistreatment of women. No one would accept that. The obvious conclusion would be that you just don’t care about the mistreatment of women – or at least not as much as you should.

But there should be no real mystery about what the Cardinal has done. He is like the unfaithful steward in Luke 16 who, realizing that he is soon to be out of a job, does some favors for his master’s debtors to gain their favor after his dismissal. You still want to be invited to the good parties and hang with the people with money and influence. And it’s another good example of “synodality.” …

Pro-Life Activist Savannah Craven Will File Civil Suit Against Leftist Who Assaulted Her

Pro-life advocate Savannah Craven Antao says her attorneys at the Thomas More Society will file a civil lawsuit against Brianna Rivers, the pro-abortion woman who punched her in the face during a street interview in Manhattan months ago.

The announcement of the lawsuit comes after charges against the attacker were dropped by the district attorney’s office.

The assault occurred in April 2025 during a taped “woman-on-the-street” interview for the pro-life group Live Action, where Craven Antao was engaging passersby in dialogue about abortion.

President Trump delivers message on the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel (September 29)

Today, I salute the millions of Christian believers in the United States and around the world observing the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel.

According to sacred Scripture, when the Devil rebelled against God in Heaven, Saint Michael and his legion of angels cast Satan down to Earth—triumphantly reasserting God’s sovereignty over all creation. For 2,000 years, Christians have looked to Saint Michael the Archangel for protection, strength, and courage in times of conflict, distress, and doubt.

In 1886, nearly 140 years ago, Pope Leo XIII, leader of the Roman Catholic Church, fearing for the future of the western world, introduced the legendary Prayer to Saint Michael, which is still recited to this day in churches and homes all across our Nation and throughout the world …

Charlotte Bishop Restricts Traditional Latin Mass to 1 Chapel

Bishop Michael Martin of the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina, said the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) must cease at four parishes and will be only be permitted at a chapel beginning Oct. 2.

After delaying the restrictions three months, Bishop Martin said in a Sept. 26 letter that the Chapel of the Little Flower in the St. Therese Parish in Mooresville, North Carolina, which was recently renovated by the diocese and can seat just over 350 people, will have two Masses each Sunday and on holy days of obligation, both of which will be said by Father Brandon Jones, the recently appointed chaplain.

The bishop said the chapel is “not a parish, nor is it a parish-like community being formed for those who desire to celebrate the TLM.”

New digital ID scheme to be rolled out across UK

A new digital ID scheme will help combat illegal working while making it easier for the vast majority of people to use vital government services. Digital ID will be mandatory for Right to Work checks by the end of the Parliament.

The scheme will be available to all UK citizens and legal residents, saving time by ending the need for complicated identity checks which often rely on copies of paper records.

There is a strategy to annihilate all Christians and Islamize Nigeria, expert says

Attacks against Christian communities, especially in northern Nigeria, are not an isolated phenomenon but rather a strategy to “annihilate them all and Islamize the country,” said Emeka Umeagbalasi, a criminologist and researcher.

The expert has spent 30 years denouncing human rights violations in his country and is clear that “this is not simply a case of violence.”

“We have documented the coordinated and systematic murder of an entire people; therefore we are clearly talking about a Christian genocide,” he told ACI Prensa, CNA’s Spanish-language news partner.

Patriarch Sako: Fewer than seventy Christian families remain in Mosul [Iraq]

In Mosul, once a multi-ethnic city, where at least 50,000 baptized people lived, there are now fewer than 70 Christian families. And across the country, Christians, who once exceeded one million, now number fewer than 500,000. These are some of the figures presented by Iraqi Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Church, during his speech on September 24 in Vienna to Austrian diplomats and politicians on the current situation of Christians in Iraq.

Throughout the last two decades, the Patriarch recalled, the Christian community in Iraq has endured immense suffering as they found themselves vulnerable despite being “the original inhabitants of the land”. The plight of Christians has been weakened “due to conflicts based on sectarian differences, the presence of extremist organizations like Al Qaeda and ISIS, militias and criminal gangs, job discrimination, oppressive ‘Personal Status Law,’ and Islamization of minors.”

Our Lady’s Blue Army Reminder: Pray Every Day for World Peace

At Fatima, Our Lady stated that if her requests were heeded there would be peace in the world. Peace has been illusive in these 108 years since she appeared to the three shepherd children at the Cova da Iria. Why is this? She stated that war was a punishment for sin. How simple this is. Not only have we committed numerous sins but we now have institutionalized sin in society.

The closer that we are to God there is love and serenity. The farther we are from Him there is hatred and chaos. In this time when people of faith particularly are being attacked for their Faith and the unborn are being slaughtered with impunity worldwide, we cannot wonder why there is not lasting peace in the world.

As we approach the centennial anniversary of Our Lady’s request for the First Saturday’s devotion, we recall that she promised an era of peace and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart. …
