Dems Grandstand While ICE Agents Remove Violent Criminals
If insufferable Rep. Eric Swalwell is moving his lips, there’s a good chance he’s lying. The California Democrat with a fetish for Chinese Communist Party spies spent his time at Tuesday’s House Homeland Security Committee hearing demonizing federal immigration law enforcement agents to score political points with the anarchist wing of the far-left Democratic Party.
But Swalwell, a candidate for governor, ensnared himself in one of the biggest lies the left has told about the Department of Homeland Security agents sworn to enforce the nation’s immigration laws: The fractured fairy tale that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers “grabbed” a 5-year-old boy and used him as “bait, forcing him to knock on his own door so they could arrest his father.” It’s a load of crap, but that didn’t stop Swalwell from repeating it as his lackey held a blown-up photo of the kid behind him. You know what they say about a lie traveling halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.

Trump threatens to prevent opening of Canada-Michigan bridge over treatment of US, China friendship
President Donald Trump threatened late Monday to block the opening of a new bridge on the border between Michigan and Canada, over Canada’s treatment of the United States and its budding relationship with China.
The new bridge is expected to open early this year and is set to be the only bridge that allows for foot and bike traffic between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, according to Politico. The bridge will be maintained by Canada.
Trump said he would derail the plan for the Gordie Howe International Bridge to open soon in a post on Truth Social, stating that Canada has not been treating the United States “fairly” for decades.
“I will not allow this bridge to open until the United States is fully compensated for everything we have given them, and also, importantly, Canada treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve,” Trump insisted. “We will start negotiations immediately.”

Vance completes two-day visit to Armenia, signs nuclear deal, visits genocide memorial
Vice President JD Vance concluded a two-day visit to Armenia on Feb. 10, marking the first time a sitting U.S. president or vice president has traveled to the country. The trip advanced U.S.-brokered peace efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, finalized a civil nuclear agreement, and included a solemn visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan. …
On Feb. 10, Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial, honoring Armenians killed during the 1915 massacres under the Ottoman Empire. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum estimates that “at least 664,000 and possibly as many as 1.2 million” Armenians died in the genocide.
The couple laid flowers to honor the victims, observed a minute of silence, and viewed exhibits at the adjacent museum.
Vance told reporters that the visit came at the request of Armenian leaders. He described the memorial as “a very important site” to them and said the massacre is a “very terrible thing that happened a little over a hundred years ago.”

Pope Leo sends 80 generators, medicine, food to Ukraine
Pope Leo XIV has strengthened his support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war by sending new humanitarian aid to areas hardest hit by winter bombings, including 80 electricity generators, along with food and medicine.
According to the official Vatican News outlet, the assistance was sent at the pope’s request through the Dicastery for the Service of Charity. Three trucks carrying the generators departed Rome to help communities facing severe cold after repeated attacks on energy infrastructure.
Nighttime temperatures in Ukraine have fallen as low as minus 15 degrees Celsius, forcing many families to leave their homes in search of warmth in shelters, often the only places where they can receive a hot meal. The generators are intended to ensure electricity and heating in these shelters during the harsh winter months.
Along with the generators, the Pope also sent food and large quantities of medicine, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, supplements, and melatonin, which has been especially sought after to help people sleep amid constant fear and stress caused by ongoing attacks.

Jimmy Lai’s Death Sentence is the Red Line: Time to End the Vatican-China Deal
A Hong Kong court has sentenced Catholic hero Jimmy Lai to twenty years in prison – a deliberate attempt at a death sentence, and clearly intended by China’s officially atheistic regime to make an example of the ailing 78-year-old media mogul.
And to whom is Lai meant to serve as an example? To Catholics – to you and me. Beijing wants to intimidate us into silence and inaction. But I am calling on Catholics – and laypeople in particular – to answer Lai’s sentencing with the same courage he showed by standing up to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the first place: It’s time for us to stand up and put an end our Church’s secretive and compromising “deal” with the CCP. …
… [W]ith international visibility of Lai’s sentencing, which has outraged Western leaders from Britain (where Lai holds citizenship) to the United States (where a Catholic, anti-Communist Secretary of State has already condemned the Hong Kong court’s decision) – now is the perfect time for the Vatican to unilaterally break its deal with the CCP.

Blessed Fulton Sheen, a Modern Evangelist for Christ – Essay by Msgr. Jason Gray
No doubt many people will offer their own reflections on the life of Archbishop Fulton Sheen now that the Vatican has approved his beatification. I offer these reflections on some lesser-known aspects of the life of this man of exceptional faith and character.
Fulton Sheen was a televangelist, a charismatic bishop, a media personality with piercing eyes, a scholar, a celebrity, and the host of an award-winning television program. Yet these are not reasons for the Church to beatify or canonize anyone. Many people possess similar qualities but are not thereby distinguished for their personal holiness.
The reason to honor a blessed or a saint is because of his or her life of heroic virtue. In my opinion, Sheen’s greatest quality is his humility. …

Jewish refugee Franz Werfel was running across Europe from Nazis en route to the US. While he was hiding in the village of Lourdes in France, he heard of the miraculous apparitions of Our Lady to Bernadette Soubirous. So taken was Werfel with her story, he promised that if he made it safely to the US, he would ‘sing the song of Bernadette.’ He succeeded and wrote the book ‘The Song of Bernadette’ (1941) upon which the eponymous movie was based.
