Vance says fraud task force found 186,000 dead people collecting SNAP benefits
Vice President JD Vance told a crowd at a rally in Iowa on Tuesday that his fraud task force found 186,000 dead individuals collecting benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Vance traveled to Des Moines to appear at an event for Rep. Zach Nunn (R-IA), a vulnerable member of the House GOP majority. During his remarks, Vance talked about the fraud task force that President Donald Trump asked him to lead.
“People have asked me, ‘Is that a hard job?’” Vance told the audience. “And I say, ‘Well, let me think. Finding fraud in the federal government, it’s kind of like fishing in a barrel with dynamite.’”
Vance said he is “shocked every single day by the things” the task force has uncovered.
“Brooke [Rollins] has found out that we’ve got 355,000 people on SNAP benefits receiving double benefits, that we’ve got 186,000 dead people getting SNAP benefits,” Vance said, referring to the agriculture secretary. …
Vance joked that the “fake news media” would misrepresent his remarks as wanting to “take away food stamps.”
“That’s what they’re going to say. I actually think that we should take food stamps away from dead people. I’m guilty of that,” Vance said to laughter and applause from the crowd.

Supreme Court allows Voting Rights ruling to take effect immediately
The Supreme Court decided Monday to let its recent ruling limiting a key part of the Voting Rights Act take effect early instead of holding it for a month, per tradition.
The Supreme Court last week narrowed the scope of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act to bar race-based districts, ruling that Louisiana’s map was unconstitutional and prompting the state to reschedule its upcoming House primaries while its lines are redrawn.
Supporters of the Supreme Court ruling urged the court to allow it to take effect immediately so Louisiana has time to redraw the maps, but opponents urged the court to push it until after the election because voting in the primary had begun.

Grassroots GOP Ousts Indiana Republicans Who Betrayed Base On Redistricting
In a remarkable demonstration of grassroots strength, Indiana conservatives ousted numerous Republican state lawmakers who betrayed their constituents on mid-decade redistricting.
According to The New York Times, preliminary results from Tuesday’s primary elections indicate that at least five incumbent Republican senators who sided with Democrats last year to kill redistricting before the 2026 midterms are projected to lose their reelection bids. The successful challengers were backed by President Donald Trump, Indiana Gov. Mike Braun, and Turning Point Action.
In Senate District 1, challenger Trevor De Vries is estimated to defeat incumbent Sen. Daniel Dernulc. As of publication, De Vries leads Dernulc 76 percent to 23 percent, with 74 percent of votes tabulated.

Luxury Dutch cruise ship locked down after Hantavirus outbreak

Experts suggest this mind-boggling quarantine period for MV Hondius passengers facing terrifying hantavirus outbreak
Distraught passengers onboard the stranded MV Hondius could face quarantine for up to eight weeks, a health expert warned Tuesday – as officials scrambled to contain a deadly hantavirus outbreak on the cruise liner.
“I’m sure people are isolated or quarantined in their rooms or cabins, but unfortunately, that quarantine period can take up to eight weeks,” New Jersey-based emergency medicine physician Sampson Davis told The Post. “The virus usually has a quick onset, but it can linger up to about eight weeks before it has an impact.”
Hantavirus is typically only spread through rodent droppings, but one rare strain, the Andes virus, can spread between people and carries a 40% mortality rate – and it’s likely the culprit behind the outbreak, which has killed three passengers and sickened at least seven others, the World Health Organization said Tuesday.

Israeli Settlers Storm Christian Village of Taybeh [West Bank], Establish Illegal Outpost in Escalating Campaign of Forced Displacement
Israeli settlers have stormed the historic Christian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank, establishing an illegal outpost on privately owned land and blocking residents from accessing their own property in what observers are warning is an escalating campaign of forced displacement.
The Vulnerable People Project (VPP) is sounding the alarm, warning that the situation reflects a broader pattern that could amount to the systematic erasure of Christian communities from the region.
“This is not an isolated incident- it is part of a concerted effort that will result in the erasure of a Christian presence in the Holy Land” said Jason Jones, founder of the Vulnerable People Project. “When families are displaced from their own property and threatened into submission, this crosses the line into forced displacement. The world must recognize what is happening and stand with our Christian brothers and sisters.”
Eyewitness accounts and video evidence indicate that settlers are using the newly established outpost as a base to expand their presence, intimidate residents, and assert total control over the village. Families report being physically prevented from reaching their land, with growing fears that continued incursions will make normal life impossible.
