Supreme Court ruling sparks gerrymandering fights across the US
A new Supreme Court decision interpreting the Voting Rights Act is triggering another wave of redistricting fights across the country, with both parties looking for ways to reshape congressional maps ahead of 2026. The ruling changes how states can draw congressional lines, and districts cannot be drawn based on race.

Trump says Tennessee next to redistrict after Supreme Court ruling and ‘give us one extra seat
President Donald Trump on Thursday said he had a “very good” conversation with Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN) about redrawing Tennessee’s congressional map to give the GOP “one extra seat.”
The president’s plan to push redistricting in the Volunteer State comes after the Supreme Court on Wednesday handed down a ruling on the Voting Rights Act that gives states more freedom to redraw congressional maps without prioritizing racial outcomes by raising the bar for what qualifies as racial gerrymandering.
“I had a very good conversation with Governor Bill Lee, of Tennessee, this morning, wherein he stated that he would work hard to correct the unconstitutional flaw in the Congressional Maps of the Great State of Tennessee,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “This should give us one extra seat, and help Save our Country from the Radical Left Democrats, and their Country destroying Policies of High Tax, Open Borders, Transgender Mutilization, Defunding the Police, ICE, and Border Patrol, No Voter ID, Soft on Crime, and so much more.”

Alabama wants to redraw its Congressional maps, asks Supreme Court for quick review
Alabama has asked the Supreme Court to quickly review its pending court case dealing with congressional district maps, a move that could have major consequences on the party makeup of the state’s Washington delegation.
The April 30 filing comes one day after a bombshell decision to overturn Louisiana’s congressional maps, which sparked efforts across the country to change the balance of power in Congress. Alabama is considered to have two House Democrats vulnerable to potential redistricting.

No, Gun Control Wouldn’t Have Prevented The Latest Trump Assassination Attempt essay by John R. Lott Jr.
If policymakers and advocates are serious about reducing such incidents, the focus needs to shift toward measures that directly address the factors involved.
As is so typical, just hours after the assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Democrats were already calling for more gun control. But they made the same mistake they continually make — they called for gun control laws that were irrelevant for stopping the attack they are discussing.
The attacker had a 12-gauge Mossberg Maverick 88 pump-action shotgun and an Armscor Precision .38 semi-automatic pistol. The guns were obtained from two different gun stores in California. That is an important fact that gun control advocates need to appreciate because gun control groups rate California as the state with the “best” gun control laws.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., appeared on CNN’s State of the Union the morning after the incident and suggested the shooting could become a “moment of unity” to advance “universal, violent criminal background check[s]” for gun ownership. However, California already enforces universal background checks on all gun transfers. The media rarely press gun control advocates on this point, yet my research shows that not a single mass public shooting this century would have been prevented by universal background checks, even if they had been perfectly enforced nationwide.

King Charles leaves United States as Queen Camilla returns to UK alone
King Charles III has concluded the United States leg of his state visit and is now preparing to continue his overseas tour with a visit to Bermuda, following a four-day programme of engagements in Washington, New York and Virginia.
The King departed the US after a series of high-profile ceremonial and diplomatic events designed to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence and reinforce the UK-US relationship.
His final engagements included a formal farewell at the White House, where he and Queen Camilla were hosted by President Donald Trump, followed by a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where the King laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in tribute to fallen service personnel.

Biden DOJ fantasized about prosecuting habit-wearing nuns [spotted at Jan 6 rally]
Justice Department prosecutors under the Biden administration exchanged texts relishing the chance to prosecute Catholic nuns — particularly traditional nuns “who still wear the head habit.”
One of the prosecutors is now running for the U.S. House as a Democrat in Virginia’s newly carved 7th Congressional District.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, released documents about the anti-Catholic targeting. He released texts exchanged in 2021 between two prosecutors for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
The same prosecutors later joined special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation and prosecution of President Trump.
The texts date back to the weeks after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, when the Justice Department began an unprecedented investigation to prosecute people who were on the Capitol grounds or inside the building that day.
In a February 2021 text, Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly Gaston wrote to a colleague that she had spotted nuns “near the oath keepers” in a New York Times photo of the Capitol riot.
“I would like to take a special assignment of finding and prosecuting them,” she wrote to J.P. Cooney, then chief of the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Fraud, Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section.

Sacred Heart’: The Film France Tried To Silence — And Crowds Saw It Anyway
A new docudrama by former boy band star Steven Gunnell, which explores the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the apparitions in Paray-le-Monial, is one of this year’s big surprises at the French box office.
Even before its release, the film was scorned by part of the French cultural elite, provoking either mockery or indignation towards content deemed to be overly proselytizing. Even France’s state-owned railway companies refused to advertise the film. As the box-office numbers show, these efforts did little to dissuade the public. On the contrary: Sacré-Cœur: son règne n’a pas de fin (“Sacred Heart: His Reign Is Endless”), directed and produced by Steven Gunnell and his wife Sabrina Gunnell, has become the cinematic surprise of the year.
Since its Oct. 1 release, the film has defied every prediction: nearly half a million tickets sold, record attendance per screening, and a wave of conversions to the faith.
There are plans to extend the film to a global audience, with a U.S. release currently slated for just before or during celebrations for the 2026 Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, according to SAJE Distribution.
In anticlerical France, where the simple display of Christmas Nativity scenes is often prohibited in public places, no one expected the story of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to draw crowds larger than some Hollywood productions. …
The 92-min docudrama recounts Christ’s apparitions to St. Marguerite-Marie (Margaret Mary) Alacoque in Paray-le-Monial in the 17th century, one of the most decisive chapters of Christian history. Through testimonies, accounts of Eucharistic miracles, historical analysis and reenactments, the film explores the moment when Christ revealed his Heart to the world, its burning love for humanity and its suffering for their sins.

Here’s why the month of May is dedicated to the Virgin Mary
The Catholic Church dedicates the entire month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of God and spiritual mother of all.
The Catholic Church dedicates the entire month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of God and spiritual mother of all.
In the plan of salvation, the Blessed Virgin Mary holds a special place. By virtue of her role to be the mother of the Son of God by divine election, she was conceived immaculately — i.e., without the stain of original sin — and by fidelity to her son has been crowned queen of heaven and earth.
Everything Mary said and did leads to Christ. Who knows a child better than a mother? And what good and loving child does not know his or her mother and love her with all of his or her heart?
Mary knew and loved Jesus like no one else on earth — and she loves each of her children, human beings, with similar affection and tenderness.

St. Joseph, the beloved spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and earthly father of Jesus, is celebrated twice by the Catholic Church every year — first on March 19 for the feast of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, and again on May 1 for the feast of St. Joseph the Worker.
While the saint’s March feast dates back to the 10th century, his May feast wasn’t instituted until 1955. What was behind it?
Pope Pius XII instituted the feast of St. Joseph the Worker on May 1, 1955, so that it would coincide with International Workers Day, also known as May Day — a secular celebration of labor and workers’ rights.
