On Wednesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and invoked the Fifth Amendment in response to questions about his actions during the COVID pandemic and his diary entries.
Although he refused to answer questions, he got eviscerated six ways to Sunday by senators including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), and Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH). Paul even had one of Fauci’s attorneys removed from the hearing.
I think it is safe to say the sanctification of Fauci died Wednesday, and reality came on the scene with the power of a freight train.
Not only did Sen. Rand Paul skewer Fauci, but he also said they would now be pursuing a contempt vote against him. Then the Department of Justice will have to decide whether or not to proceed with action. So consequences may be coming, finally.
The furor over Fauci then managed to hit James Talarico, the leftist Democrat candidate for Senate in Texas.

DNC Fell for an Email Scammer Pretending to Be Chair Ken Martin
The Democratic National Committee was scammed out of tends of thousands of dollars.
The Democratic National Committee was scammed out of nearly $29,000 by an email from someone pretending to be Chair Ken Martin last year, according to reporting from NOTUS.
This most recent blunder comes amid growing calls for Martin’s resignation after The New York Times’ report on the party’s internal dysfunction and general lack of funds.
“Schedule B supporting Line 29 of the Detailed Summary Page discloses a disbursement for ‘Misdisbursement—seeking return of funds’ totaling $28,860.92,” DNC senior campaign finance and reviewing analyst Jack Baisden wrote in a July 8, 2025, letter to treasurer Virginia McGregor. “This transaction appears to be related to an apparent unauthorized disbursement of Committee funds. Although the Commission may take further legal action regarding this apparent improper use of Committee funds, any further clarifying information that you can provide will be taken into consideration.”
The fraudulent request was made in February 2025, and fulfilled by a staffer who no longer works for the DNC. Just $7,000 of the $28,860.92 has been recovered.

Education Department opens probe into Minnesota ‘gender dolls’ complaint
The U.S. Department of Education has opened an investigation into the Minnesota Department of Education to ensure compliance with the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment after a complaint was received on behalf of parents regarding the use of “transgender dolls” in schools. The probe, announced Wednesday, stems from a complaint filed with the department’s Student Privacy Policy Office by the advocacy group Defending Education.
According to the department’s announcement, “MyGenderDolls” feature removable, interchangeable internal and external genitalia, gender-neutral names, and clothing for both sexes, and are described as expected to be available to Minnesota educators for use with students as young as 4 years old this fall. The dolls’ developers describe them as a therapeutic tool intended for use by trained professionals working with gender-diverse children ages 4 to 10 — not as general classroom instructional material — and Minnesota education officials say they have no plans to mandate the dolls in any district this year.
Parents in the underlying complaint said they were not notified of the program or given a chance to opt their children out, which they argued violated their rights under the pupil-privacy law.

“For the remainder of the government occupation, we will function as a free and donation-based restaurant,” he wrote in a social media post, according to The New York Times. (He was referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement actually enforcing immigration law, which apparently is equivalent to Vichy France.)

Wildfires in Spain force Augustinian nuns to evacuate monastery
Wildfires burning through central Spain forced a community of Augustinian nuns to evacuate their monastery as flames threatened the region.
In a statement published July 27, the sisters of the Monastery of the Conversion in Sotillo de la Adrada said they were evacuated July 25 and “had no choice but to leave the monastery.”
The community said they were offered shelter at the Augustinian convent of Saint Ildefonso in Talavera, located roughly 26 miles south of their monastery.
“We are here, sharing as sisters, awaiting a grace that will allow us to return home,” the statement read. “We especially ask for prayers for all the volunteers and security forces who are tirelessly working to extinguish the fires.”

In an interview with The Tablet, Cardinal Arthur Roche says Pope Leo XIV will not reverse the restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass introduced by Traditionis Custodes, insisting the Pope is “not going back to Summorum Pontificum” and reflecting on liturgy, Church unity and his final meeting with Pope Francis
The Prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments has stated that Pope Leo XIV will not reverse the restrictions placed on the Traditional Latin Mass.
Speaking to the British Catholic weekly The Tablet on 29 July, the English cardinal said: “Pope Leo is not going to change Traditionis Custodes, and he’s not going back to Summorum Pontificum.”
Cardinal Roche described the question of the older form of the Mass as complex yet central because the Eucharist is the sacrament of unity. “It’s the place where we should all be able to be together to celebrate Mass,” he said. “So if it begins to divide us, there’s something seriously amiss.”
