Trump resumes push to end Senate filibuster in wake of GOP electoral wipeout
Democrats previously called for eliminating the filibuster under President Joe Biden and Trump has warned that they will do so anyway when they return to power.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday again resumed calls for the Senate to end the filibuster to pass key legislation in the wake of Tuesday night’s electoral rout.
“It’s time for Republicans to do what they have to do: terminate the filibuster,” Trump said at the White House. “If you don’t? You’ll be in BAD shape. We won’t pass ANY legislation. No legislation for 3 and a quarter years.”
The Senate currently maintains a 60-vote threshold for key legislation that has prevented Republicans from passing key items on the administration’s agenda, including voter ID and other electoral reforms.

The third time wasn’t the charm for Republican businessman and former New Jersey lawmaker Jack Ciattarelli in Tuesday’s race for the Garden State’s next governor. And Virginia didn’t elect its first black female governor.
New Jersey and Virginia remain squarely in the blue state column.
But Tuesday’s election, contrary to the left and their corporate media partners, wasn’t an early verdict on Republican President Donald Trump or a bellwether of next year’s midterms.
The Democratic National Committee proclaimed far-left Abigail Spanberger’s victory over Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in Virginia’s race for governor “another sign that voters are rejecting Donald Trump and his Republican allies’ extreme agenda that is raising health care and utility costs and destroying jobs.”
It’s not a sign, and the agenda stuff, per usual, is dizzying political spin.

Son of famed Iranian American poet arrested in NJ in connection with Michigan ISIS-inspired terror plot: sources
The son of noted Iranian American poet Roger Sedarat has been arrested in tony Montclair, New Jersey, in connection with an alleged ISIS-inspired terror plot uncovered in Michigan last week, law enforcement sources said.
Milo Sedarat was arrested at his father’s home in Montclair on Tuesday, sources told The Post.
Roger Sedarat is an award-winning Iranian American poet and a professor at Queens College in New York City.
Along with Sedarat, the feds also nabbed another Montclair teen, Tomas Kaan Guzel, 19, sources said.
Police said they found numerous ISIS-inspired propaganda on Guzel’s phone, including a statement he made online about conducting a “Boston bombing-like attack.”

As Illinois governor considers assisted-suicide bill, Bishop Paprocki calls for prayer and opposition
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat, said Nov. 3 he has not yet decided whether to sign a bill that would legalize physician-assisted suicide in the state — though he admitted feeling “deeply” affected by those seeking it. His comments came just days after the measure narrowly cleared the General Assembly.
“It was something that I didn’t expect and didn’t know it was going to be voted on, so we’re examining it even now,” Pritzker told reporters at an unrelated press conference, according to the Chicago Tribune.
As CatholicVote reported, the Senate approved SB 1950 by a 30-27 vote in the early hours of Oct. 31, around 3 a.m. If signed by Pritzker, the bill would allow terminally ill patients to obtain and self-administer lethal “medication” prescribed by physicians. It would take effect nine months after Pritzker’s signature.

Czech cardinal who resisted communism mourned
Catholic leaders in Central Europe paid tribute Tuesday to an outspoken Czech cardinal who was jailed under communism and helped to rebuild the Church after the collapse of the Soviet bloc.
Cardinal Dominik Duka, O.P., who led the Prague archdiocese from 2010 to 2022, died Nov. 4, at the age of 82, days after he was re-admitted to the city’s Central Military Hospital.
Archbishop Josef Nuzík, the president of the Czech bishops’ conference, led the tributes to Duka, who was one of the last living cardinals imprisoned by communists, alongside Albania’s Cardinal Ernest Simoni.
“Under communist dictatorship, he experienced persecution and imprisonment because of his faith, and this experience shaped him into a spiritual leader of a zealous, even combative nature, who stood courageously on the side of truth, yet had a good and friendly heart,” said Nuzík.
“The Church and society have lost an important figure in him.”

November, Patton, and Veterans
Early November, minds and hearts turn to veterans. They should, with Veterans Day on November 11. We owe more to our veterans than any or all together, can ever repay. One percent of America is on active duty. Only six percent are veterans. So, let’s remember.
Interestingly, a coincidence – if there are such things – sweeps me this year. General George C. Patton was born on November 11, 1885, 140 years ago.
Many fault him for being insufficiently sensitive, too overbearing, demanding, rough-cut, brash, and acting in ways Democrats hate today.
Actually, he loved his men – all of them. He wept for them. He modeled leadership, for which they loved him, and went everywhere with him.
When he helped Generals Dwight Eisenhower, George Marshall, Douglas MacArthur, Omar Bradley, Hap Arnold, and others win WWII, Americans were in awe, not critics.
