Gaza ceasefire under tension as US envoys arrive in the region

Trump administration envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff touched down in Israel on Monday, seeking to keep the fragile ceasefire together. Vice President JD Vance is expected to follow on Tuesday.

The Trump administration is reacting quickly to preserve the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas as violence over the weekend put the deal under increasing strain.

For now, it appears Israel is also intent on preserving the ceasefire, backing off further retaliatory measures taken in response to an attack on its troops by militants from the Gaza Strip, where it has fought Hamas for two years.

FDA Stayed Silent As Internal Reports About Potential Tylenol Risks Piled Up

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) defied the advice of its own drug safety experts to warn pregnant women about Tylenol for nearly a decade, internal reports and presentations obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation reveal.

FDA rank-and-file scientists repeatedly recommended the agency release information about Tylenol in pregnancy across three scientific reviews conducted in 2016, 2019, 2022 and two memos, one from the FDA’s maternal health division in 2016 and one from the FDA’s urological health division in 2017.

The scientific literature posits many plausible drivers of autism, the most well-established of which are genetic, and the FDA drug safety experts acknowledged that the research linking the condition to Tylenol is far from ironclad.

Reviving Sacred Spaces—Conewago Chapel’s Journey Through Church Restoration – essay

Many historic parishes around the United States rejected the architectural embellishments that marked them as distinctively Catholic during the roughly thirty years after the Second Vatican Council. Many parishioners mourned as high altars, murals, windows and other features were carted away, covered over, or simply destroyed. Others silently wept as sacred decorations provided by the sacrifices of their ancestors gradually faded and decayed as time’s ravages became increasingly visible.

Fortunately, it appears that the wanton vandalism has ceased. In recent years, many historic parishes have restored their buildings to their rightful places as beacons of the faith in an increasingly ugly world.

Rejecting Canterbury Decision, Conservative Bishops Claim Lead of Anglican Communion

Weeks after the appointment of the Rt. Rev. Sarah Mullally as the leader of the Anglican Communion, conservative Anglican prelates in Africa have rejected the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury and have proclaimed their own network of conservative churches the official voice of Anglicanism.

“The majority of the Anglican Communion still believes that the Bible requires a male-only episcopacy. Therefore, her appointment will make it impossible for the archbishop of Canterbury to serve as a focus of unity within the Communion,” said the prelates’ statement, released shortly after Mullally’s appointment Oct. 3.

The statement asserted that the members of the network, known as GAFCON, were “not leaving the Anglican Communion because we are the communion.”

French senators urge action against rising anti-Christian attacks in the country

In an unprecedented initiative, 86 French senators have signed a public appeal denouncing the alarming rise of anti-Christian acts in France and urging the government to take concrete measures to protect believers and places of worship.

The statement, led by Sen. Sylviane Noël of Haute-Savoie (southeastern France) and published on the conservative website “Boulevard Voltaire,” paints a grave picture of growing violence against churches and Christians across the country — and of what the signatories describe as a culpable indifference from public authorities.

“Not a week goes by without the regional daily press or social media informing us of these attacks, ranging from desecration and arson to physical assault,” the appeal warns.

On Trial for a Bible Verse: Defend Free Speech in Finland

One of Europe’s most shocking assaults on freedom of expression and religion is reaching a climax in Finland. On October 30th, the Supreme Court of Finland will hold a landmark oral hearing in this watershed case with free speech implications for everyone.

Päivi Räsänen — a medical doctor, grandmother, Member of Parliament, and former Minister of the Interior — has been dragged through the courts for six relentless years simply because she peacefully expressed her Christian views on marriage and sexuality online.

ADF [Alliance Defending Freedom] International is coordinating her defence, and that of Lutheran Bishop Juhana Pohjola, who is being prosecuted alongside her.

The ordeal began in June 2019, when Päivi — an active member of the Finnish Lutheran church — addressed the leadership of her church and questioned its official sponsorship of an LGBT event in a post on Twitter, accompanied by an image of a Bible text.

German bishop admits civil marriage while remaining ordained

The German missionary bishop Reinhold Nann has publicly acknowledged marrying a Peruvian woman in a civil ceremony despite remaining ordained.

In a statement given to the German Catholic news agency KNA, Bishop Nann, aged 65 and formerly serving in the Archdiocese of Freiburg, admitted the civil marriage and blamed institutional failures for his decision. …

Bishop Nann’s clerical career took him from working as a priest in Peru between 2002 and 2017 to his appointment in 2017 as Bishop of the Territorial Prelature of Caravelí. He resigned the office in December 2024, notifying the Vatican and his home archdiocese, citing depression, stress, and high blood pressure — health issues he now says were intertwined with his developing relationship.
