Abbott targets Texas Democrat ‘ringleader’ Wu in emergency order to state Supreme Court
Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) is asking the Texas Supreme Court to strip the alleged “ringleader” leading Texas Democrats of his elected office.
Abbott filed an emergency petition Tuesday to remove Democratic Texas House Minority Leader Gene Wu from his post. Texas Democrats have been away from their home state to deny Texas Republicans the quorum they need to vote on a GOP-friendly congressional map.

Ken Paxton issues Friday deadline to runaway Democrats — They will vacate office by not returning
“I will seek judicial orders declaring that runaway Democrats who fail to appear by the Speaker’s deadline have vacated their office. The people of Texas elected lawmakers, not jet-setting runaways looking for headlines. If you don’t show up to work, you get fired.”

The Democratic Protectorate of Illinois: Few do partisan gerrymanders better than Springfield liberals – Opinion
Texas Democrats have fled to Illinois to escape having to vote in Austin on the Republican plan to gerrymander the Lone Star State’s Congressional district map. The destination is amusing since no one knows more about partisan gerrymanders than Illinois Democrats.
Thanks to successive map-drawing by Democrats, with no GOP check, the state’s districts are among the most gerrymandered in the country. Democrats control 82.4% of the state’s House seats, though in 2024 they won only 52.8% of the House popular vote in those districts. The presidential election wasn’t really contested in the state, but President Trump still won 43.5% of the vote.

Homeland Security Committee Member Says She’s Loyal To A Different Homeland
Forty-two years ago, a pregnant Guatemalan woman illegally crossed the Rio Grande River and gave birth to a baby who now has “birthright” citizenship. Today, that child sits in Congress — proudly declaring her allegiance to the country her mother left behind. This is the predictable result of a broken immigration system — one that has allowed the mass importation of both legal and illegal aliens regardless of their capacity or willingness to assimilate into the country.
“I am a proud Guatemalan before I am American,” Illinois Democrat Rep. Delia Ramírez said in Spanish during the opening remarks of the second annual Panamerican Congress in Mexico City. Notably, she sits on the House Homeland Security Committee — a committee dedicated to protecting the homeland.

DHS, CBP hiring more agents as Trump immigration crackdown continues
Illegal border crossings are down and morale is up since President Donald Trump took office in January, but the Department of Homeland Security is just now rolling out a push to hire 8,000 new Border Patrol officers and customs agents.
There are incentives, sign-on bonuses and even a social media campaign aimed at drafting Americans to defend the homeland from what Trump has described as an invasion perpetrated by the Biden administration.
“America has been invaded by criminals and predators. We need YOU to get them out,” reads a DHS post on X, next to an image of Uncle Sam pointing his finger, saying, “AMERICA NEEDS YOU.”

Trump Threatens to Take Over DC After ‘Big Balls’ Lives Up to His Name
The incident in question happened early Sunday morning. A woman in a car was approached by some teenagers who demanded she hand over her car. A bystander saw what was happening and got involved. He wound up being beaten bloody by a group of teens but stopped the carjacking attempt. This afternoon, President Trump highlighted this case on Truth Social saying crime in the city is out of control because teens aren’t held accountable. His post also included a photo of the man who was beaten up.

Transgender Biological Male Foreign Athletes Will be Barred from Getting US Visas
Biological male transgender athletes beware: you are no longer allowed a visa to enter the U.S. to compete as women.
The Department of Homeland Security announced Monday it will deny visas to foreign athletes who are biological males looking to compete in the United States as women.
The Washington Times reported that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said it was enforcing President Donald Trump’s executive order demanding that government agencies pursue policies to keep “men out of women’s sports.” The aim, the agency said, is to “guarantee an even playing field” for women.

Blue States Suing To Block Trump Admin From Cracking Down On Child Mutilation
A coalition of over a dozen blue states is suing the Trump administration in an attempt to block federal policies aimed at curbing transgender medical interventions for minors.
The lawsuit, filed [Aug.1] in federal court in Boston, comes from 16 Democrat-led states and Washington, D.C. It challenges President Donald Trump’s January executive order titled “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,” which instructs the Department of Justice (DOJ) to prioritize enforcement against so-called “gender-affirming” care — a term encompassing things like puberty blockers and surgeries — for minors.

Chinese Couple Renting American Women’s Wombs Exposes Dark Side Of Surrogacy Industry
A surrogacy scandal involving a Chinese couple under investigation for alleged child abuse is drawing attention to lax regulations allowing anyone — including foreign nationals — to hire an American woman to deliver their child.
Police initiated a child abuse investigation into 38-year-old Silvia Zhang and 65-year-old Guojun Xuan after a two-month old in their care was hospitalized with a head injury in May, a local law enforcement official confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation. The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently removed 21 children from their custody, including some born from surrogates who worked with an agency called Mark Surrogacy.

‘Surrogates’ are more likely to suffer mental illness than ordinary mothers
The Irish state is a willing partner in the international sale of babies and the rental of women’s bodies to supply them on demand. As it refuses to criminalize this evil trade, it also ignores the damage done by its permission of the reduction of human life to a mail-order consumer product.
Scientific studies now confirm that women paid to give birth to babies they will then give away suffer mental illness at a far higher rate than mothers who do not sell their children. A leading anti-surrogacy campaigner has challenged the Irish Health Ministry with this evidence, in a move which further shifts the debate on the “surrogacy” industry towards criminalizing the trade.

The Fight to Stop Euthanasia for Mental Illness
In 2010, twenty-one-year-old Andrew Lawton attempted suicide by swallowing a bottle’s worth of pills in a public bathroom. His depression had become unbearable. Thankfully, he failed, and after weeks in a coma, began a long recovery. Earlier this year, he was elected to Canadian Parliament and has become a key advocate of a new law to halt the scheduled expansion of euthanasia to those suffering solely from mental illness.
Bill C-218, the “Right to Recover Act,” was tabled by MP Tamara Jansen and would make it a criminal offense to provide “medical aid in dying” (MAiD) to someone suffering solely from a mental illness. The Supreme Court overturned criminal prohibitions on assisted suicide in 2015, and the next year Parliament passed Bill C-14, which legalized euthanasia for those “enduring intolerable suffering” with a “reasonably foreseeable death.” In 2021, the Trudeau government passed Bill C-7, legalizing MAiD for those struggling with mental illness.

Climate Change Isn’t the Top Environmental Issue — An Interview with Michael Shellenberger
So begins the interviewer: “You are known for your skepticism about climate activism and environmentalism. One of my favorite stories about this—I don’t know if you have heard this one—is from this March, when there was a climate summit called the COP30 in Belém, Brazil. The government actually cleared out tens of thousands of acres of rainforest to make way for a highway for the climate summit. Have you heard of this story?”

New Mexico Archbishop Reinstated, Promoted, and Lives with Priest who Spent 10 Years in Registered Homosexual Relationship
Archbishop John Wester, the local ordinary for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, NM, reinstated the faculties of a priest who spent ten years in San Francisco as a registered “domestic partner” to another man. According to Fr. Steve Rosera’s official bio, Abp. Wester reinstated him to the priesthood on 20 January 2021. The official Archdiocese of Santa Fe facebook page indicates that Fr. Rosera took a “leave of absence” twenty-eight years earlier, meaning he had been away from the priesthood since 1993.
During this time, Rosera spent ten years in a committed homosexual relationship (officially registered with California courts), heavily advocated for same-sex “marriage,” and played an active role in the LGBT “rights” movement – an activism which he still maintains to this day.
Even more scandalous than restoring Rosera’s priestly faculties, however, Abp. Wester also made him the pastor of a parish, the dean of a deanery of priests in the archdiocese, and placed him on the Archdiocesan Tribunal, where he works as a judge and Defender of the Bond. Abp. Wester currently lives with Rosera in the same residence.

Revolt of the Janitors: On the Detroit Massacre – Opinion
My father grew up in Florida, and most of his friends were Cuban. He often heard from them how wonderful Cuba had been before Fidel Castro’s revolution. My father once asked one of his friends how Castro managed to take over the county. He told him it was simple: first they would take over a factory. Then, they would remove the manager of the factory and replace him with the janitor. The reason for this was that the janitor could never become the manager in normal times but only because of the revolution. Thus, the janitor would defend the revolution to the death, so as to keep his new position of power at all costs.

Back on the Right Track: Conservative Polish President Sworn In as Liberal Coalition Cracks
On Wednesday, August 6th, Karol Nawrocki was officially sworn in as the 7th President of Poland since the fall of communism, marking both a major political shift and the first step toward returning to the national conservative governance that characterised Poland for much of the past decade.
Nawrocki—not officially a member of any party but supported by the conservative PiS (ECR)—secured 50.9% of the vote in a tightly contested runoff in early June against liberal Warsaw mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, the vice-chairman of PM Tusk’s ruling Civic Platform (EPP) and a staunch advocate of closer EU integration.

Cardinal Eijk Praises Cardinal Burke’s Christlike Endurance in the Face of Criticism
Dutch Cardinal Willem Eijk has warmly praised Cardinal Raymond Burke for the way he has endured attacks for proclaiming the fullness of the Catholic faith, saying that his example imitates Christ’s suffering and opens the way to heaven.
Preaching at a July 31 Mass to celebrate Cardinal Burke’s founding of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 2008, the cardinal archbishop of Utrecht held up the American cardinal as “an exemplary priest, an outstanding canonist, a prophet of canon law.”

Pope Leo sends Message to Bishop of Hiroshima for the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings in Japan (Aug 6, 1945).
MESSAGE OF THE HOLY FATHER LEO XIV FOR THE 80th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ATOMIC BOMBINGS OF HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI: To the Most Reverend Alexis M. Shirahama Bishop of Hiroshima I offer cordial greetings to all gathered to commemorate the eightieth anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In a particular way, I express my sentiments of respect and affection for the hibakusha survivors, whose stories of loss and suffering are a timely summons to all of us to build a safer world and foster a climate of peace.
Though many years have passed, the two cities remain living reminders of the profound horrors wrought by nuclear weapons. Their streets, schools and homes still bear scars — both visible and spiritual — from that fateful August of 1945. In this context, I hasten to reiterate the words so often used by my beloved predecessor Pope Francis: “War is always a defeat for humanity.”
Transfiguration shows the Heavenly glory of Christ on Earth
The start of August is marked by a veritable flurry of great feasts, in both the new and old liturgical calendars. But one date which is unchanged for the adherents of either ordo is that of today’s feast of the Transfiguration.
this feast is not just the historical event, but also an occasion to meditate on the “permanent mystery attached to it; not so much the personal favor bestowed on Simon Peter and the sons of Zebedee, as the accomplishment of the great message then entrusted to them for the Church.”
