Biden's Beltway is bracing for an enema.
As examined in Part I of this series, the Communist-Democrat plot to take down Donald Trump has enraged Americans of all stripes. More than two weeks on, patriots are still seething over the former president's conviction by a Biden-backed kangaroo court.
But rather than mustering torches and pitchforks, Trump's troops are preparing a laxative of sorts to flush the legal system clean.
With the election now less than five months away, Team MAGA is readying plans for reprisal. And, if the green light is given in November — if 45 is crowned 47 — a red blitz will be unleashed on Washington, the moment the White House is won.
'EVERYTHING IN OUR ARSENAL'
Already, portions of the payback playbook are beginning to emerge.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) vowed last week that congressional Republicans would bring their full weight to bear against corrupt prosecutors.
On Capitol Hill, Republican lawmakers have begun to make good on Speaker Johnson's pledge.
Led by Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government convened Thursday to examine "the recent political prosecution of President Donald Trump."
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who secured the May 30 sham verdict, has agreed to testify before the subcommittee — but only on July 12, the day after Trump's scheduled sentencing.
'NASTIER OVER TIME'
Things may head south for Bragg in the coming months.
In comments to Axios last week, former Trump advisor Steve Bannon made clear that if the former president returns to the Oval Office in January, supporters will seek to investigate and incarcerate the Manhattan DA.
Bragg "should be — and will be — jailed," Bannon vowed.
Likewise, the conservative media baron said he would push for "investigations to include [Democrats'] media allies."
Bannon hinted that a second Trump term would be more hawkish than the first. Reflecting on "the evolution of … war," he noted that clashes "only get nastier over time."
Notably, one day after Bannon's comments were published online, a federal judge ordered him to report to jail by July 1, where he'll serve four months for refusing to comply with the Democrats' January 6 investigation.
THE PLAN
The MAGA plan to impose accountability is bigger than whatever consequences Bragg may eventually face — much, much bigger. In fact, it reportedly includes an overhaul of entire government agencies — chief among them, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
An array of left-leaning media are substantiating claims that Trump is preparing to purge the DOJ and FBI of corrupt, leftist elements.
Reuters, for example, revealed in a May 29 dispatch that "Some of Donald Trump's allies are assembling proposals to curtail the Justice Department's independence and turn the nation's top law enforcement body into an attack dog for conservative causes," according to nine anonymous insiders involved in the plan.
Beyond mere restructuring, the former president's supporters say the DOJ must be "stacked with allies unlikely to slow-walk Trump's demands." Therefore, the report noted, high-powered backers are "combing through federal regulations for novel ways to bring stalwart conservatives into the Justice Department at the start of a potential Trump term."
For his part, the former president "has publicly embraced a potential executive order known as 'Schedule F' that would give him the power to replace thousands of civil servants with conservative allies" — including many inside the DOJ.
Meanwhile, according to plan insiders, "the FBI — which many Republicans see as biased against them — would have new constraints on its authority, with many of its responsibilities shifted to other law enforcement agencies."
Allies of the former president told Reuters that they also support "eliminating the FBI's general counsel," an office that "provides legal advice to FBI employees regarding ongoing probes and other matters."
Backers say that doing away with the general counsel "would force the bureau to receive legal guidance from people closer to Trump's attorney general in the chain-of-command," and curtail the bureau's "ability to conduct investigations without close political oversight."
The architects of the plan, Reuters noted, represent a vast array of conservative foundations, advocacy groups and brain trusts:
'INSTITUTIONALIZING TRUMPISM'
Project 2025, or the 2025 Presidential Transition Project, is an initiative of The Heritage Foundation.
Representing the largest, most ambitious conservative alliance ever assembled, Project 2025 boasts 100 members, including the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists; Alliance Defending Freedom; ACLJ Action; the American Family Association; Americans United for Life; the California Family Council; the Center for Family and Human Rights; the Center for Immigration Studies; Concerned Women for America; the Discovery Institute; Eagle Forum; the Family Research Council; the Frederick Douglass Foundation; the Heartland Institute; Hillsdale College; Liberty University; Media Research Center; Native Americans for Sovereignty and Preservation; Project 21 Black Leadership Network; Students for Life of America; Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America; the Texas Public Policy Foundation; Turning Point USA; and many more.
Project 2025 partners are, in the words of Heritage Foundation president Kevin D. Roberts, fixed on "institutionalizing Trumpism." The mission of the initiative, as described on its website, is to expunge the cancer of leftism from the halls of government in Washington and beyond:
As part of its "personnel" pillar, Project 2025 is crafting a massive Presidential Personnel Database, through which eager, professionally-qualified patriots can apply for positions in the next conservative presidential administration.
"With the right conservative policy recommendations and properly vetted and trained personnel to implement them, we will take back our government," Project 2025 affirms.
Likewise, as part of its "training" pillar, Project 2025 has established a Presidential Administration Academy, a "a one-of-a-kind educational and skill-building program designed to prepare and equip future political appointees now to be ready on Day One of the next conservative Administration."
"This academy provides aspiring appointees with the insight, background knowledge, and expertise in governance to immediately begin rolling back destructive policy and advancing conservative ideas in the federal government," the initiative explains.
Project 2025's 180-day playbook has not yet been unveiled, but the measure "includes a comprehensive, concrete transition plan for each federal agency."
"Only through the implementation of specific action plans at each agency will the next conservative presidential Administration be successful," the initiative notes, adding that the playbook is "a roadmap for doing just that."
Project 2025 urges anyone interested in learning more about its vision for the next conservative administration to explore its policy agenda, as encapsulated in its Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise — a massive tome of 900+ pages.
A 'REDPRINT' FOR RECLAIMING AMERICA
The number, and scope, of policy prescriptions contained in Project 2025's Mandate is immense — far beyond the capacity of this article to adequately address. However, a brief sketch of its recommendations for DOJ and FBI reform follows, to illustrate that the work does seem to be a cornerstone of MAGA plans for policy prescriptions — that its contents read like a page (or many pages) out of Trump's political playbook.
In a chapter titled "General Welfare," the Mandate outlines the threat a compromised DOJ and FBI represents:
"The most important thing for the next attorney general to do is to refocus the department on its core functions of 'protecting public safety and defending the rule of law,' while restoring its 'values of independence, impartiality, honesty, integrity, respect, and excellence,'" the Mandate declares.
"It is essential that the next conservative Administration place a high priority on reforming the DOJ and its culture to align the department with its core purposes and advance the national interest. Critically, this must include the FBI," the Mandate notes.
"Anything other than a top-to-bottom overhaul will only further erode the trust of significant portions of the American people and harm the very fabric that holds together our constitutional republic," the Mandate explains. "At a practical level, not reforming the Department of Justice will also guarantee the failure of that conservative Administration's agenda in countless other ways."
DISQUIETED QUISLINGS
In a June 4 article for The Nation, progressive writer and activist Robert L. Borosage bewailed Project 2025 — a testament to its potential to effect lasting change.
"MAGA acolytes have not only dethroned the Republican establishment in Congress and red-state legislatures," Borosage observed, "they have taken over the party's think tanks, including the Heritage Foundation, once the bastion of Reagan conservatism."
"Heritage's new Mandate is far more extreme than the original 1980 plan that guided Reagan's administration," he lamented.
Borosage is far from alone in his outcry against the possibility of a second Trump term. Across the country, in print and on the airwaves, leftists are laboring furiously to raise alarm over the prospect of MAGA returning to power.
Not surprisingly, many of those voicing anguish over the former president's potential resurrection are the inverse of Americans angry over the sham trial verdict. Rather than agonizing over what a second Trump term would mean for the Republic, they fear what it could mean for them.
Legions have spent the past nine years working to annihilate Trump, and his return to power — an angry, post-conviction return, in particular — could spell trouble for them, especially if Bannon gets his way.
Cognizant that MAGA means business, Biden's media lackeys are trying to whip up hysteria, arguing that Trump — not Comrade Biden — represents a fundamental threat to American democracy.
In a recent statement, for example, Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer bellowed:
Similarly, on June 4, the New York Times warned that, "When Donald Trump hurls wild charges at his opponents, he is telegraphing what he plans to do to them … Trump has already tried to use the power of the presidency to harass his enemies, and his allies have since identified the choke points in the system that previously thwarted him."
Writing for The New Republic on June 8, journalist Greg Sargent voiced dismay at the way Trump's post-conviction pronouncements are being covered in the press:
NO SURRENDER
Wherever they operate — in courtrooms, political chambers, television studios or newsrooms, the agents of the Deep State must be fought, and routed.
They have actively worked to overturn the Constitution and its principles, which are based on the recognition of divinity and its order of the universe. They have shown no remorse — quite the opposite, in fact. They are an existential threat to the Republic, to humanity as a whole, and yes, to souls the world over.
There is no negotiating with a cancer. To rid a body of malignancy, the renegade mass must be excised. But, too few conservatives want to face that reality. They refuse to grasp that there can be no coexisting with the diabolical — that this is a fight to the finish. Only one side will win — but one will win — this proxy war between heaven and hell.
