Trump Says Supreme Court Ruling Against Tariffs would Cost the US TRILLIONS – “We’d Have to Pay Back Trillions of Dollars”

President Trump told reporters on Thursday that the Supreme Court’s ruling on his authority to impose tariffs on foreign imports could cost the United States trillions of dollars if they don’t overturn the Court of International Trade’s May ruling that the President does not have the authority to impose tariffs.

“I don’t want to talk about it. I’m going to hope that we win,” he told reporters on Thursday when asked if he plans to impose any new tariffs before the Supreme Court rules.

“I can’t imagine that anybody would do that kind of devastation to our country.”

President Trump invoked his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA) when he declared a national emergency to reduce the US trade deficit.

Report: Senate Dems ‘Unified’ on Continuing Government Shutdown Despite Negotiations from Republicans

Senate Democrats are reportedly set on continuing to drag out the government shutdown with another “no” vote on Friday, with members claiming that “people want us to fight” and that the caucus is “unified” in how they are going to do so.

A Thursday closed-door meeting ended with Democrats “coalescing around a unified strategy rather than splintering into factions,” Semafor reported, noting that a number of Democrats are looking to end the shutdown, “but probably not enough to prevail in a vote on Friday.”

One source familiar with the inner workings of the caucus confirmed to the outlet that Democrats want to keep pushing to extend the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) enhanced premium tax cuts, which are currently set to expire at the end of the year.

Trump demands agencies kill regulations faster

President Donald Trump is doubling down on his demand that federal agencies kill Biden- and Obama-era regulations.

Faced with slow action by his team, the Office of Management and Budget has just issued a nine-page demand that his government speed up deregulation efforts.

“The goal of this memorandum is to offer guidance to the agencies as to how to bolster, streamline, and speed … the deregulation of facially unlawful prior government regulations,” said OMB. “Deregulation has important, unique impacts.”

In Trump’s first administration, he ordered that two past regulations be eliminated for every new one created. Agencies found it easy to beat that ratio, killing over five old rules for every new one.

Radical Abortion Activist Nancy Pelosi Will Finally Leave Congress

Longtime Democrat Congressman Nancy Pelosi, a fierce proponent of abortion whose unyielding support for killing babies has drawn sharp rebukes from Catholic leaders, is poised to retire from Congress at the end of her current term.

The 85-year-old California lawmaker, who has represented San Francisco since 1987, has finally announced she is stepping down.

In a CNN interview aired Monday, Pelosi emphasized her drive to reclaim House control for Democrats, saying, “For me, it’s just a question about one thing: winning the House for the Democrats, and that’s what we’re doing with Proposition 50. It’s the first step.”

USCCB and CRS Urgently Ask World Leaders to Address Climate Change at COP30

As world leaders gather for the 30th annual United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), the bishop chairmen who lead committees of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) that address climate policy were joined by the president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to call for urgent, courageous action to protect God’s creation and people.

Archbishop Borys Gudziak, Bishop A. Elias Zaidan, and Mr. Sean Callahan’s statement follows:

“This year’s COP30 convenes while the Catholic Church celebrates the Jubilee Year of Hope. Pope Leo XIV called for the participants of COP30 to ‘listen to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor, families, indigenous peoples, involuntary migrants and believers throughout the world.’

This jubilee year is a sacred opportunity to restore relationships and renew creation at a time when the gift of life is under grave threat. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation are devastating communities already burdened by poverty and exclusion. …

Bill Gates says climate crisis won’t cause ‘humanity’s demise’ in call to shift focus to ‘improving lives’

Bill Gates has called for a “strategic pivot” in the effort against the climate crisis, writing that the world should shift away from trying to limit rising temperatures to instead focusing on efforts to prevent disease and poverty.

Writing on his Gates Notes website, the billionaire Microsoft co-founder criticized what he described as a “doomsday view of climate change” which is focusing “too much on near-term emissions goals”.

Gates’s memo comes a day after the UN said humanity had missed its target of limiting global heating to 1.5C, with the UN secretary general warning of “devastating consequences” for the world.

RI School Demands Mom Cough Up $117K To See Curriculum, Emails Of Teacher Who Celebrated Charlie Kirk’s Death

After a high school teacher in Rhode Island posted a video celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk, a concerned mother requested information about the materials this teacher uses in his classroom. In response, school officials demanded she pay roughly $116,000 to find out.

Benjamin Fillo is a social studies teacher at Barrington High School who came under fire for posting multiple videos on social media demeaning Kirk shortly after his assassination. In one video, he called Kirk a “piece of garbage” and ended the video by saying, “this is what happens…bye, Charlie.” In another video, Fillo reportedly asserts that “Charlie Kirk is not in heaven right now.”

Vatican to release new document on polygamy at end of November

The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith will publish a new document on marriage in the context of ongoing discussions about polygamy in Africa.

The document, titled “We Two: In Praise of Monogamy. Doctrinal Note on the Value of Marriage, Exclusive Communion, and Mutual Belonging,” will be released at the end of November, the dicastery’s secretary, Father Armando Matteo, said Tuesday.

Matteo said the work is connected to a request made during the Synod on Synodality for African bishops to prepare a statement on polygamy. African bishops themselves, he noted, asked the Holy See for guidance on the issue.

The Synods on the Family in 2014 and 2015 — though largely dominated by questions of divorce and remarriage — also saw significant interventions from African bishops on the pastoral challenges of polygamous marriages.
