Trump Warns Iran It Will Be Hit 20 Times Harder If Hormuz Oil Is Disrupted
President Donald Trump warned Monday that the United States would respond with overwhelming force if Iran attempts to halt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, even as he has recently said U.S. strikes have already severely damaged Iran’s military capabilities.
“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far,” Trump wrote Monday on Truth Social.
“Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again — Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them — But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen!” Trump added.

Victor Davis Hanson’s latest on war in Iran
Critics have hounded the Trump administration for supposedly not clearly stating to the American public their most favorable outcome in the ongoing conflict with Iran. With the midterms less than eight months away, the pressure is on this administration to get the job done. And it can happen in one of three ways, argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words:”
The Optimal Choice: What’s left of the Iranian military and Revolutionary Guard will capitulate, opening the doors for a Western-supplied transitory government made up of exiles to lead the nation until elections can be held. The Impalpable Solution: The “Venezuela solution,” i.e., appoint a lower-tier, secular, dissident member of the former regime, like a general. The Worst Choice: Allow the mullahs to “stew in their own juices.” Bombed their nuclear and military capabilities off the face of the earth and then leave.

Catholic priest killed in Israeli strike on Christian village in southern Lebanon where Hezbollah fighters reportedly staged counteroffensive
A Lebanese Maronite Catholic priest was killed March 9 when an Israeli tank shell struck a home in the Christian-majority village of Qlayaa in southern Lebanon amid ongoing clashes with Hezbollah, according to local officials and reports.
Father Pierre al-Rahi, the parish priest of St. George Church, remained in the village with other clergy and residents despite an Israeli evacuation order, The National reported. Since the Feb. 28 onset of the Iran war, Israel has carried out strikes on suspected Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, south Beirut, and the Bekaa Valley.
According to Lebanese Parliament member Samy Gemayel, the Israeli attack came after a Hezbollah fighter entered one of the village’s homes. Gemayel said on X that Fr. al-Rahi went to the house along with local officials after an initial strike injured people inside. The home was then shelled again, leaving the priest critically wounded. He later died from injuries, according to AsiaNews.

Stocks Rally and Oil Sinks After Trump’s Remarks Reassure Investors That Iran War Is ‘Very Complete’
Stocks rose and oil prices fell on Monday after President Trump indicated that the war with Iran was nearing its end.
Brent Crude, the global oil benchmark, had climbed above $110 in international markets on Monday and stock futures indicated U.S. indexes would decline as much as two percent. But by the close of trading on Monday, the major U.S. indexes were up for the day and oil had plunged to below $90 a barrel.
Within hours of the opening of cash markets for stocks in New York, stocks were paring back their losses, and oil had sunk to around $102 a barrel. Comments from France’s finance minister indicating that the Group of Seven economies were prepared to release strategic oil reserves to stabilize the global market appeared to ease concerns over the supply of Persian Gulf oil. After CBS News reported that President Trump said the war with Iran was “very far ahead of schedule” and “very complete, pretty much,” the shift intensified.
Brent crude fell to around $87 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate fell to around $83 a barrel.

Cathedral of new Nigerian diocese destroyed in fire
A devastating fire destroyed St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Wukari, Nigeria, the principal church of the Diocese of Wukari in Taraba State, leaving the building reduced to a shell of charred walls and twisted metal.
The blaze, which broke out late in the evening of March 4, consumed the cathedral within hours and has been described by local Church leaders as a profound loss for one of the region’s most visible symbols of Catholic life.
According to diocesan officials, the fire erupted shortly after electricity supply returned to the area following a period of outage. Within a short time, the flames had spread through the structure, overwhelming the building before any meaningful response could be organised. By the time the fire subsided, the roof had collapsed, furnishings had been destroyed and much of the cathedral’s interior had been lost. …
[The Director of Communications for the Diocese of Wukari, the Rev Fr John Laikei]
described the fire as “a total setback” for the diocese and acknowledged that the clergy and faithful were struggling to come to terms with the scale of the loss. “We are still in shock,” he said, explaining that the diocese had not yet been able to determine the precise cause of the blaze. “The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but all I can say is power was restored and the incident occurred.” …
The Diocese of Wukari itself was only established in 2022, having been carved out of the Diocese of Jalingo as part of the Church’s continuing growth in Nigeria.
